    my IG Blog

'lo all, to get some progress on my 'to do' list, i decided to get the largest chunk outta the way. That chunk just happens to be the Therian Interior Guard

the first of many planned armies in this regiment, it's a pretty basic list. with nothing too special (valks, superheavies...etc.)

    a total of around 1500pts.

you'll notice that a lot of them are missing heads, that's because i'm custum making GS gasmasks for all of them, here's an example

so, my most finished unit, the Stormtroopers!

all that i really need to do with them is finish the last 3 members, and base them at the end with the rest of the army

after i finish those, i'll be doing all my squad/platoon leaders

then, the vets all with GS gasmasks and trench coats

after that, all the special weapons

    then the sentinels

    then my heavy weapon platoon
minus the command squad, i still need to make 'em

then all the squad heavy weapons

after, it's on to the grunts! ....... oh joy

    then a break from infantry

    it's back to the grunts!

    after, my commander

then it's back to the grunts!

    another break

    the final hurdle

groan.. lot's of work ahead, hopefully updates every day until it's done....eventually

comments on the finished stormtroops? remember, they're only TT quality

oh, and before i forget, here's the full album, it's got all the pictures i didn't bother to post

I like them! A lot! Stormtroopers look good, how are you doing their bases?
Maybes need another colour in there to break up the monotony..I painted most of my army in a green/grey then decided to give them one blue shoulder pad, which became their "thing". If you're sanding then static flocking their bases the green of the grass might help too

    Re: my IG Blog

for bases, i'm not set on anything yet, probably not going to decide until they're all done

most likely sand and rubble, as they're going to go with my soon to be built cityfight table ("soon" is to be taken with a grain of salt )

as for the monotony, once i finish them up to the same standard i might try out some fancy free-hand and weathering..... but only once they're roughly 'done'

Yeh, thats the stage im upto now with my Guard...
I was going mostly-infantry, now I'm a bit bored, sick of getting beaten up and close with orks so im adding some tougher stuff..
Once I get my next 2 russ and basilisk converted painted up Just made an extra unit of hardened veterans, got ogres on their way to convert into ogryns, think I'll add some Grenadiers and maybes some converted sergeants. You will be disheartened by the first 50, but keep strong! Looking good though.

phhh, i'm already disheartened by the thought of the first 50...

small update: finished the first seargent, minus the hands here

*warning* the picture is waaaay to focused, and as such looks really dusty

IRL it's a better blend, ijust couldn't get a decent picture of it to turn out

it's easier to see the details on these, than the flat black undercoated ones...... 'nuff said

    praise allah! a response!

those GS masks were pretty simple, for the majority of them (the ones on the grunts/vets) i just GS cast a Kasrkin mask, then jammed the cadian face into it. since they're the exact same size, they fit perfectly

it's just the fact that i have to do it 50-odd times that scares me......

    my gosh, another!

these vets were inspired by one death korps conversion that was really impressive, and the trench guard look was what i was aiming for

though, they aren't as spangly clean as most guard, i wanted a more 'real' and 'gritty' feel for them, though.... they will be getting mud/dust and other wear and tear once i decide on the bases

    - If you water down some wood glue, then you should be able to add bits like that pretty easily.

    - I like the ones on Page 12 I think it is, lol. Those look my Gen1's. Right now, I'm GSCing the Kasrkin Faces (like you), but mixed it up between a few. I use a small "mask" beneath the rebreather to connect itbetween the sides of the helmet (it looks like you tried that). As well, I use the whole mask with specs on the spare helmets. That works pretty stellar IMO.

    - The whole aremy is really lacking in colours, but if you want that "urban warfare" type of deal, then it's ok. For trench warfare, they'll stick out a fiar bit - since when did black and gray look much like brown? I guess it could work on those "Ash wastes", but odds are the storms will provide you with enough visibility issues...

    - The Trenchcoat guys, your vets? I like the snub-nosed lasguns and greatcoats, though it shocks me that you put the coats under the armour. Wouldn't it make sense that they just tossed them over the armour, or took off the shoulderpads even? Anyhow, they look great.

    Re: my IG Blog

Looking at the greatcoats again, it looks more like skirts 'cause you didn't add anything on the arms...

    hehe, edit tool...

    Re: my IG Blog

yeah, they do look like skirts....but don't tell anyone!!!
really, i just put them there for looks, so putting them under the armour just seemed easier

the total 'lack of colour' was intentional, and unavoidable, they're for urban warfare, in a desert/badlands-type city, and i only really had a few colours that would work for it

most of these guys really only need two colours (minus lenses) bleached bone, and brown ink, my entire storm trooper squad was done with those two colours (yes, even the seargents face), plus hawk turquoise for lenses/lights

now, i am planning on adding more detail once they're all finished, wear & tear, squad markings, etc.

oh, and those snub-nose lasguns can also double as shotguns in a pinch, as the vets are the ony ones with 'em

thanks for the c&c, the main issue i have right now is colour, but that'll be worked out in the end.....i hope
