Like I said earlier, I wanted the turret to look like a more angular version of the millenium falcon, so if thats what its reminding you of, I've done a good job.
Hm I don´t think it is good shape for turret on Imperial Tank. But if you like it.
I'd really like to see it with a barrel. I still think the turret looks a bit too big, but a pic with a barrel and maybe zoomed out a bit in profile may look much different. The shape looks fine to me![]()

That looks much better in my opinion. But i would like to see it on the tank and with a barrel, to see how the whole thing works as a whole.
i am actually dyslexic sorry for any grammar
Real world look or not, that turret is about 25% too big.
Well, finally managed to get this done, the software has been spitting fatal exceptions at me nonstop for no apparent reason, and just as easily as it came... it left...
I think its pretty much the correct size. If it looks a bit "off" to you, remember that you're looking at a computer image, it does not take "depth of field" so some things might look bigger/smaller than they really are as it isn't a "true" image. In reality it would look a bit more like this:
But those pics are somewhat inaccurate themselves (so I generally avoid using them), as they are "idealized" and really just 3d representations of a (currently) 2d object, and lack things such as shadows, etc. (although now that I think about it, if I could figure it out I could probably do renders, but Im not sure if it would be worth my time (at this stage)).
Hrm, I think a barrel on there would help bring a lot of perspective to the tank and might remove some of the visual awkwardness, as the turret right now still looks really large, but may change with a barrel and a better overall effect.

Well, problem with that is that the barrel is a completely seperate piece with a completely seperate design process (that I've yet to figure out entirely). I intend on finishing the turret before starting on that, so really the best I can give you until then is a cylindrical protrusion...
Alright, so I did a quick barrel mockup, and by mockup I mean a two-tiered cylindrical protrusion that looks absolutely nothing like the way I inted the barrel to look...

I think the "barrel" on there helps it a lot. It still has a bit different of feel than GW tanks, but I like it. It'll be good to see all the detailing done on the turret. Not to try and rush you, but that's another thing that is causing me to hesitate in really liking. The hull looks great, the turret looks great, it just doesn't have any rivets...
Good work on it!
Dont worry, there will be rivets![]()
Hrm, from the side the turret looks ok now, but in the isometric view the turret still seems a bit too large, although maybe thats just me.

Damn forum must have ate my post. Anyway, as I said, it looks off in the isometric view because it doesnt account for depth of field.
Sorry if this is an obvious question that has already been answered - but how are you making this tank? Are you using the computer stuff to cast it up somehow? Or are these detailed plans for a plasticard scratch build?
I was just wondering as there are lots of neat details in the design that look cool, but would be harder to make in plasticard than maybe they need to be (mainly the angles round the front of the hull and the sponsons). Obviously if you have a manufacturer to cast it all up out of the computer design then its not an issue!!
Im really thinking I should put this info in the first post, but yes my intention is to have it manufactured directly from the CAD files, whether it be in resin or a plastic injection kit.
Hello.
My first post in this forum.
Well back to topic. I think, the turret looks way too big.
Smaller would be better. I understood your tank as an option to the Leman Russ, but it looks more than a Baneblade.
Well if you want to have an Leman Russ option, think about the turret you have made befor this.
The chassis ist very nice, I'm very happy with this sort of chassis armour.
Are you going to cast this model for other people too? If yes, I'm very interested in some. But only if the turret looks good.![]()
Okay, I think we need to start being clearer here. When you say the turret is to big, do you mean it is to big in relation to the hull, or to big in relation to other GW tanks?
And yes, I will be producing them for sale to the general public.

I think it looks a little too large for the hull, I think this is partly due to the fact that it is so high. On modern tanks the turrets are of a comparable size to yours, but there is none of the detail under them like the extra/sponson turrets etc.
Hope thats a little clearer, and bear in mind, it only my opinion, I think the work you've done so far is spectacular and should be applauded.
Maybe you shouldn't be looking at queues from modern armour when designing a Sci-fi tank. I have no idea how hard it would be to do a couple of mock ups for an unmanned turret, or off centred barrel turret etc, but it may be worth looking into.
Cheers
