Half the pagecount of the VC army book, in softback not hardcover, for only just under half the price. It's only a "good" price by GW standards. And the sad thing is that I will eventually buy all of them.
Show me any other company that could get away with selling a 48 page "book" at that price point. Then again, show me any other company that could get away with charging £4.50 for their monthly sales catalogue...

They don't because they're resin of course. This is actually going to be quite an interesting test to see how well FC standards stand up to huge models- will there always be a dud component you just have to deal with?
Cathay v 2.0 for 8th edition is coming, get involved in a professionally produced army book!

I heard the undercoat sprays are gong up from $25NZ to $34NZ here. It's gone beyond ridiculous.
GW Undercoat sprays are already 3x the cost of the same bloody thing from companies like Krylon. Everytime someone buys a can of GW spray I have to question their sanity.
I've been undercoating models in their matt black and white for the last decade. Cheap as chips, covers just as well and the last time I got them they had an adjustable nozzle that allowed you to spray in a horizontal manner or vertically.

Browncoat. And will be forever.
Not being funny, I bloody love Mantic Games
"This product is SO much better!"
"How is it better?"
"The detail is crisper!"
"...yeah I don't see that. If anything that detail is offset by problems like miscasts and bent appendages. We'll call it even."
"Sure, sure, but consider how much cheaper the material is!"
"Oh, awesome. How much cheaper are the models?"
"...er, well, it's actually more expensive to produce the models now, even though the material is cheaper. They're going to cost 15-20% more."
"...I'm not sure I understand. Why are you doing this if the only net result is you get to charge us more money?"
"...just look at the detail!"
What they've done is used an at best equally-efficient, cheaper material, and then charged the consumer more money because their production costs went up. I don't think so, guys.
Edit - Nevermind.
Whilst I'm here, has anyone else's LGS or GW store had a big sale on Metal Blisters to get rid of them so they can bring in Finecast? I got Skulltaker, Mounted Chaos Lord, a box of Flamers, the Changeling and a Khorne Exalted Hero for 50% off. No miscasts on any of them either!

Currently Listening to (Keeping me sane whilst painting) - My Dying Bride - A Map Of All Our Failures
Maybe the resin process only ends up more expensive because there are so many miscasts they have to use so much resin before they get a decent kit? Either way you spin it.. Switching from one material to a more expensive and difficult to use one that provides no real advantage is just a stupid business decision, and to pass the extra costs onto the customers is nothing more than an insult.
