Noticed the new Zahndrekh Necron Character model is £11.
A possible sign of things to come for the current £10 character models?

Looks like another yearly increase is on the horizon. A nice solid 10% one.
I ended up switching to 15mm for my sci-fi. Like the above poster about Flames of War, I feel like I'm getting so much better value for my money.
GW's prices per individual models seem alright for the plastics. GW's prices for units to be used in the game? Horrific.
I buy the occasional individual figure off of ebay bitz sellers (or used figures), but I'm just no longer interested in WFB/40k's rules & game size.

Remember to take the time to enjoy your hobby. If GW isn't doing it anymore for you, look elsewhere. There are lots of great miniature games out there now.
When did GW release something? Was it plastic or metal? Who sculpted it? Come find out:Fantasy, 40K, LOTR, BFG, Blood Bowl, Epic, Inquisitor, Man O' War, Mordheim, Necromunda & Warmaster

I don't mean to be the mad aus... okay,so I'm totally intending to be the mad aussie price whiner.
But seriously
dollar still higher than US.
Engineer on robo pony or marius is the same price as a unit of greatswords. If seventy bucks was a ripoff for 10 plastic models, I totally see how it makes sense for 1 resin one. One old resin one too.
The stupidest thing is they have like helborg and shwartzhelm still at 61, despite these being larger and overall more intricate models than the engineer/leitdorf, and gelt is 69, despite the fact he's technically a monster kit (though his peg is actually smaller than some of the new horses).
Not only is it ridiculous, it's inconsistent. Other than that, I'm actually not too annoyed at the empire plastic pricing. $90 is a bit steep for a griffon gamewise. Dragon maybe, but griffons aren't exactly going to fill out a chunk of your points. The model does somewhat allow for it though, on a price-by-size mindset. The wagons are reasonably priced. They're not huge death machines, but there's a lot of detail and versatility in there that kind of justifies the price tag. the DG knights are somewhat overpriced, as is all monstrous cavalry atm. they're perilously close to the 50c per point mark that makes a unit an autoexclude in my book.
Cathay v 2.0 for 8th edition is coming, get involved in a professionally produced army book!
Currently painting: lizardmen // Current showcase model: lileath hesperax
I had an interesting experience last weekend that highlighted the GW-Indie store issue. I was at my local indie attending a doubles 40k day event. There were 15-20 teams, so a good turn out. During the lunch break I drove five minutes up the road to return some GW stuff from their own store (it was a present and I wanted the cash to buy FW goodies instead).
Now, both stores are in a similar location, with walking distance of a shopping center with a supermarket and specialty stores. The GW also had the benefit of being right on the street. It was empty; utterly deserted except for the sole staff member painting his minis.
So, what is it that sees a GW store completely empty while five minutes up the road an indie is bustling with players?
Young lady, I am an expert on humans. Now pick a mouth, open it and say "brglgrglgrrr"!
is it known why GW never do sales? if they announced it a month in advance and only had it for one day, I can see a lot of profit coming in.

If there is, then fine, but I still wouldn't put "a case" as a selling point to be honest.
And when you say you can change it, what for exactly? I'd be very surprised if you can take it in and exchange it for a box of models or some such (and that's not a GW bash, I'd be surprised if -any- company would just let you exchane something for a totally different item).
It's just a guess, but I'd imagine they feel it would "devalue" their products and wouldn't be in keeping with the premium quality status they're going for.

Looked at all the new Necron minis.
Drooled.
Looked at prices.
Laughed.
Closed the website.

Actually you can. And there would be nobody stopping you.

Outside of the characters, I thought they were relatively fair for the size of the models in question.
The Destroyer Lord upgrade actually got cheaper...the metal hybrid kit was at $33 last week. Now it's $30.
Of course, the Heavy Destroyer got more expensive, which is on the stupid side...$25 to $28.25.
I guess I don't take issue with the pricing on the plastic kits - the Spyder and Stalker are cheaper than expected, and while the Tomb Blades and Wraiths are more than expected, they're also far larger than I was expecting. I think it all balances out for me in the end - what prices would have been fair in your eyes?
Cut AU$20 each off all of the kits (not the FC chars), and I would buy them. I won't buy FC anyway.

It's strange, the last several army releases I've found the prices much more acceptable for what you get. Sure they are the same as older models, but they are usually larger, more detailed and better looking. Then again, finecast is terrible so maybe it balances out.
Still, I have found all the new plastic sets incredible and as close to being worth the ridiculous prices as you can get.
And models becoming larger for no viable reason every time a new book is released is what troubles me. The only reason why wraiths, spiders, and tomb blades are as large as they are, is because: a) they can wow you with their size, and b) they can charge you more for models with low point costs. Has anyone tried calculating how much an army containing 18 wraiths and 3 spiders would cost? It almost gave me a heart attack, that's for sure!
It's the same thing with fantasy. Why did they make the Griffon so large? Because they can! They inflated it so that it could enter a higher price bracket, and instead of $35 they ask $50 for it - it's $15 of sheer profit more per purchase. Sure, it makes for a cool centerpiece, but army cost has sky-rocketed lately through such shenanigans. I suppose that's in line with their business strategy, I mean, most of their customers never play the game in the end... I wonder why?
What slayed me lately, though, was the price of the Demigryphs - compare a box of 3 Demigryph knights to a box of VC Black Knights... both coming from the same company... Why are the DG's so expensive? Because they come on larger bases and are classified as MC, the models themselves are barely larger than standard cavalry.
Then there's the stealth FC increase occuring with every new book released (compare TK characters to Empire characters)... Looks like GW doesn't need the yearly price increase anymore to gouge their customers!
Am I the only one who notices these latest schemes?
They arent "schemes", they are charging what the market will bear.
