Can't see a 20% price rise happening, but if it did then it would surely be the end of Games Workshop. There can't be any way they would survive that.
If the prices increase by 20% I think it will be time for me to finally call it a day... My disposable income is getting smaller every few months due to other household bills.
Well, they can if they do it to only a few items in the range. How do I know? Because they have done it in the past, and again fairly recently. LotR is the one that comes to mind immediately because it is one of the systems most familiar to me lately, but most of the character models went from around $25-$27 to $33, a little over 20%. Granted that was a switch to FC, but IIRC it was similar in the price hike before that one, with character models going from about $22 to the $25-$27 range, right around the 20% range.
Just this past January, the LotR infantry boxed sets went from $33 for 24 to $22.25 for 12, so to get 24 you now need to spend $44.50, an increase of about 34%. And when that happened, I heard the usual "well it's an expensive hobby anyway" or "it's about time those products came more in line price wise with everything else", very apathetic replies. As long as the replies like that keep coming and people keep paying, GW is going to keep doing it, and everytime they do, we will see the "nail in the coffin" comment being proven wrong over and over again (a comment I have also been guilty of uttering numerous times).
Ha, thanks (I think). Honestly, I love Warhammer, that's why I'm still here despite all this. I just hate seeing GW screw it over. It's gotten to the point now where I -want- to see them push it past breaking point, so that the backlash losses will either finally convince them to change tactics or allow someone else to take over.

When did GW release something? Was it plastic or metal? Who sculpted it? Come find out:Fantasy, 40K, LOTR, BFG, Blood Bowl, Epic, Inquisitor, Man O' War, Mordheim, Necromunda & Warmaster
Well they just posted some finecasted space marine models. Quite the nice price increase on the thunderfire cannon. Gotta love GW.....
Well, taking in the wider economic situation, this would be about the worst time to go for volume growth with low prices, I think. Selling a smaller quantity of stuff at a higher price is something of a defensive strategy in these times. I base this solely on my personal experience where money is so tight now that it makes no difference to me whether a box set is £10 or £30 - I simply can't afford it.
Apparently, in the dying days of 2011, I started a blog-thingy to encourage me to do more hobby stuff.
If that's the case, then a 10-man Tac squad will cost more than Terminators currently do...

Bloody hell! That one shocks me even for GW. One marine and his big gun costing nearly as much as a land raider? It was already one of the more absurdly priced models.
Oh and it also went from £30.75 up to £36, which is nearly 20%. So I guess that figure isn't so unrealistic.

By this point, you would have to realistically figure that this is a deliberate attempt to crash or collapse the company.

I cannot honestly see an "accross the board" 20% rise - on a number of things yes, but everything? Rounding up/down that would put (the newer) army books at £30 each, battalions £70 min, basic orc boyz £21 for 10 and IoB possibly up to £75. Really?
EDIT: And £2.75 for a 12ml pot of paint...

Member of J.A.D.E.DTrying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.
Lest we forget
I've long ago come to the conclusion that the suits running GW are crazy but surely they're not suicidal enough to jump everything 20% in one go.

I believe the correct translation for "GW will increase its prices by 20%" is "GW no longer wishes Australians to buy its products".
Young lady, I am an expert on humans. Now pick a mouth, open it and say "brglgrglgrrr"!
Tymell provided me with a list of most of the prices from the now finecasted SM products. A comparison to what they cost now:
Thunderfire Cannon - £30.75 ... £36 ... +17%
Tigurius - £10.25 ... £11 ... +7%
Chaplain Cassius - £8.20 ... £11 ... +34%
Lysander - £12.30 ... £13 ... +6%
Sergeant Telion - £8.20 ... £9.50 ... +21%
Pedro Kantor - £8.20 ... £11 ... +34%
Kor'sarro Khan - £10.25 ... £11 ... +7%
Vulkan He'stan - £12.30 ... £13 ... +6%
Captain Shrike - £10.25 ... £11 ... +7%
Librarian - £8.20 ... £9.50 ... +21%
Chaplain - £8.20 ... £9.50 ... +21%
Terminator Chaplain - £8.20 ... £13 ... +59%
Masters of the Chapter - £20.50 ... £20.50 ... no change!
Veterans - £23.50 ... £25.50 ... +9%
Terminator Captain - £10.25 ... £11 ... +7%
The percentages of the price rise are based on the original price. Rounded up or down as needed. Across the products listed, the price rise averages to +17%, with some disgusting exceptions I must add.
Seems like no June price rise is needed at all. Remember the WHF Empire release, when the same happened: their characters were finecasted with some price rises of up to +100%.
Fix'd.![]()
Damn, I new I should have picked up some of those before they were made into FC![]()
Those who know don't care any more, and those who care don't know.
So maybe a 20% price rise in June will be the average then, with some rising by much more and lots rising by not a lot? It would be a bit out of character for GW to just rise everything by exactly the same percentage, consistency is not one of their strengths!
Edit: Haha I just saw the price of Space Marine casualties is $41!! 3 dead marines cost the same as 5 live marines??? Thats mental!

That's the Failcast effect: Massively raising the price for the same minis in an inferior material.
