Another advantage is they have very experienced sculptors who have had years of experience with plastic and can envision and make complicated kits like the Coven Throne.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. GW is not a industry leader in plastic manufacturing. There new big hyped baneblade molds had slide core's which they made a huge deal about.... has been used by almost every other plastic model producer since the late 70's early 80'. Don't fool yourself or drink the kool-aid kids, the only thing GW is the pioneer of is the 'churn and burn' method of sales in the TTWG industry.

One of the very, very few rumors I have about GW: they have/will soon have a production facility in Oz.

But will that reduce price? Or raise prices to support building the factory?

I thought I saw that Games Workshop said they wouldn't raise the prices on their battleforces, yet a year and twenty dollars later, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Not to mention that there is talk about a price rise in January.

This hobby seems to keep getting harder and harder to stick to. No wonder parents shuffle their kids out the door when they hear the prices.

Having lived in Australia, I feel extremely bad for people who are living there that buy Games Workshop products. I used to live there quite a while and am still wondering why there is a massive price difference when the currencies are equivalent to each other (1:0.98).

    Example: Chaos Space Marine Battleforce - Australia = 180 / United States = 110

I think you get my point.

Don't feel bad because we pay more for GW, feel bad because we pay more for everything.

    A few examples:

Ralph Lauren Shirt: $60USD RRP, $130AUD RRP
    Nikon Coolpix S6200: $150USD RRP, $312AUD RRP
    Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, $1-1.50USDRRP, $2.60AUD RRP
    Fortnum & Masons 125g tea, 5GBP RRP, $25AUD RRP
Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, $40USD (not sure if thatis RRP), $80-100 AUD RRP

These are all prices from my local stores and prices from stores visited in L.A. in October (or form the F&M website). No doubt there is considerable variations accross both countries.

So GW isn't doing anything every other retail company isn't doing, doesn't make it right, doesn't make GW any worse than everyone else.

All of which you could buy at the cheaper price using a foreign website, GW have put a stop to this for their products

No, they stopped international GW websites from selling to Australia.

I say frag the GW blockade, use international ebay sellers for GW bits you can't avoid, and buy cheaper miniatures from rivals and convert them up!.

Re: Games Workshop Pricing Feedback Thread

That's what I said, all the other products you could buy cheap from outside Australia but GW you can't

Re: Games Workshop Pricing Feedback Thread

That isn't quite true, Dicebucket and the Warstore at least are still able to ship internationally. GW stopped British sellers from selling to the antipodes, they didn't seem to revise the US terms of trade.

The (global) price rise last january was due to an increase in UK Value Added Tax, from 17.5% to 20% (so a 2.2% increase on the RRP). In fact, they very kindly upped their prices to the next multiple of 50 pence so there would be no "untidy" prices, and then increased their international prices by the same percentage, even though VAT is not chargeable on exports.

This year they have no excuse for a January price rise, unless you consider the fact that UK inflation has been hovering around 5% since the summer (instead of the Bank of England's Target of 3%), and if the economy stays the way it is, inflation might actually fall in line with the GW price rise!

Humm, in another fourm some one from aussieland was saying that the packaging says made in Aus. Someone else shot him down saying that they package the stuff in aus but not manufacture it.

I understand the aussie position. In Canada we get the 'screw you canada' tax also. look at the american prices then the canadian ones then consider these prices where set when the dollar was .65 cents to the american one. Now we are at paroidy so what do they do? Do they lower the canadian prices, nope they raise the american ones. Typical GW move.

I'm yet to use him/them, but I know a few guys who have. Compare to aus prices and watch your jaw drop.

Wow. I can pick up all the armour I need for my Krieg Army for probably half the price of what it would cost me buying from GW in Aus. Fantastic. Now, all I have to do it wait for my next pay day..... Come on January 5th!

I've ordered from Dicebucket in the past month without any hassle so unless they are ignoring new terms of trade they can still ship internationally.

    Thanks for the eBay link.

I ordered from them. Everything was perfect. Though it was Warmachine stuff I ordered rather than GW.
Remember to take the time to enjoy your hobby. If GW isn't doing it anymore for you, look elsewhere. There are lots of great miniature games out there now.

The gwPLC trade embargo does not effect products from other companies. I can't think of any other games company that has implemented such a policy against their customers.

I too had heard that they had implemented the trade embargo in the US but there had been a delay between it & the Europe/rest of the world one.

Yeah, it really is a strange practice. Priavteer stuff is cheaper in the US than in Europe, but they don't go around trying to tell their trade clients to whom they can sell and to whom they can't.

Either way, that eBay seller is solid. The seller is also one the guys who make the Chain Attack podcast. Definitely a by gamers-for gamers operation.

I'm awfully tempted to get into warmachine. I want to play a game with low model count that's more balanced an I am thing of going through this guy.
