Red and white sound also good, i tested blue and red but they always looked like a fire brigade.
Back to red and white, red should be no problem with washes but white.....maybe i will test it at the cloth with a light blue wash.

Grey and green works well and looks different.
Fair play, I've always loved the washes. But this is something else! Hats off to you sir, I'm mightily impressed.
The downside is that my next project is very likely to be white and black space marines, which doesn't seem too likely to benefit much from this. Grumble...
Anyone have any success with bone, using the citadel washes??
Also taking tips for orc flesh
A nice easy bone color using washes is cover the bone with a basecoat of denib stone, followed by a devlin mud wash. Put a layer of bleached bone on top leaving the darker color in the crevices. Highlight with a mix of half white and half bleached bone. Easy.

Any time.
Does anyone actually use Baal red the way it is intended to be used? As in mechrite red -> blood red -> orange highlight -> baal red wash to tie the colors together? I find that it does almost nothing at all. What are your experiences, guys?
Edit - Toddums, the recipe is for a model that was primed white. Using black primer makes the bone a bit darker, but the same recipe should still work.

Hmm, looks like I will be painting some empire state troops instead of the savage orcs like I planned.
I want to do purple and khaki, just like on the back of the box (not sure which city state this is).
Any tips?
Just sephia for khaki and leviathon for purple?
Using greyscaling of course
Crap, just realized im out of badab black, any good substitute? Watered down chaos black?
You would have to use a ton of water for it to work, and even then the results can be iffy. You should probably just buy more badab black. Also, the moderators of Warseer don't like it when people post multiple times in a row, they want you to use the yellow edit button if you have more to say.

black ink and a little bit of future floor wax (basicly clear acrylic).
I would love to see some of these methods used on the new dark eldar range.
I was thinking of ways to do the cult of the red grief or perhaps a bone coloured dark eldar army... what do you all think?

Big thanks to big squig and everyone else here that helped with advice, and just posting pics for inspiration. Just finished this a few days ago, working on another unit today.

Really impressive. Will try this for sure.
Hi there all, I was just wondering if anyone has tried an all-washing technique on ogres? I am thinking of jumping on the bellowing band wagon in October and want a quick and easy way to paint them... If anyone has anything to offer, it would be a huge help
Cheers

Love this idea, even quicker than my speed painting method!
I use a simliar washing technique on my krieg models. it works really well.
Just giving this was h malarky a go with my new empire army. Below are pics of Gunther Von Vherdicht of Ostermark.
This is 90% done with washes, and the rest is very thinned paint (except the yellow)
Enjoy

very impressive vargo!
People have no excuse for not painting
It's simplicity itself, thisguy took a couple of hours all in, and that's only becasue i was taking my time and getting used to how it worked. Rank and file should take no time at all really (thank god!).
