Yeah that seems to work extremely well. I have a Tau Battleforce collecting dust in the closet. I think I'm going to give them a go using this technique. Thanks Squig.

Great Job Forlorn, your guardsmen looks great.
I just did the new advisers, check em out.
Was I doing somehind wrong with the green wash? It certainly didn't coat very well. Any advice?
For the green, I have a pot of roughly 50/50 thraka/devlan mix. (Could be 40/60 or 60/40 but I want's really paying attention)
Then I just did two clean coats. The first coat was too thin, but the second cleaned it up.
By a clean coat you mean.... straight green or another layer of the mix? I'd rather use the wash than paint catachan on all the parts requiring green.
Squig I notice you have a kroot model posted up there. Do you by chance have any Tau that you've washed up? I imagine it would be extremely similar to how a guard model turns out with the armor plates. Just curious how the wash would lay on the helmets.

Wow that's amazing!! I don't suppose you have any eldar examples do you? I want to see how it looks on something with lots of round armour plates
This is a great idea and technique..
Thanks for passing on the titorial.. I shall certainly be experimenting with this,
Best wishes,
Carl
I think I may have to give this a go myself, your results certainly are inspiring. Thanks for the tutorial.
While not exactly the same technique I have used 2 coats of the washes over a foundation colour to get great (and fast) results on my marines:
These are for my Mantis Warriors. After these I may just do the same for an army of Blood Angels.

@daemomkin..
What wash did you use over your marines?
They look great..

cthorpe: As I said previuosly knarloc green foundation and 2 coats of thraka green. The 3 models in the pic above are the 3 stages of the process: foundation, 1 wash, 2 wash. I was genuinely surprised at the effect the 2nd wash had on the models, really deepend the colour and pooled where the previous wash left just a trace.
The only problem is the occasional pool where I don't want one (right marine, right leg) but the solution is easy, simply repaint foundation over the area and do it again.

Hey, sorry, I've been painting, just not posting. I'll try to be better...
Anyways, behold! The Troll King!
The skin is a ogryn flesh / leviathan purple mix.
And a wraith.
This might be one of the coolest minis I've ever seen, but it didn't come out how I wanted it to.
None the less, here it is.
How many layers is the ogryn / leviathan on the Troll King? Do you mix them before you put it on the mini?
does this technique only work with the new washes or will it work with the old inks? And what about watered down paint?
