Is bigger always better? YES! So I made an even bigger statue from some plastic bits, mainly from the Empire General kit...

Let me know what you think...

I know, not really spectacular, but it suits my needs... More statues coming!

    Re: Mordheim structures

What use is a Mordheim city board without a warband to fight with?

So, without further ado, I present to you...

Liebert's Looters (Stirlanders using Reiklander rules without blackpowder)...

My captain, flanked by his two champions...

My two Youngbloods and my Halfling...

    My five Marksmen..

    Swordsmen...

And, last but not least, my two warriors...

At the moment I'm working of a background for my warband... I will update you as soon as I have some more.

Let me know what you think! I mean, please let me know what you think...

    Bigger is not better.

The statue won't make a lot of sense if it has such a huge standard. First off it is impossible to make such a statue, I think, and second off, if it's Mordheim you're building, it would've long been destroyed.

Love the look of the warband though. All those new Empire sets really force me to start an army, they look so good! And you have given your warband a true Marienburg feel!!

I think I might have to agree with Daniel36 about the standard on the statue. The blocking is wonderful but being Mordheim it should be a bit damaged in places.

The warband is looking cool and I like the idea of the block bases. Err do you think your captain is trying to make up for something...he does seem a bit suggestive...

You don't play Orks, do you? Bigger is Better!

I know it's a big statue but I do like it... Nothing says Empire to me then a few nice and shiny statues. I will try and figure out a way to make him look more damaged though...

Well, I couldn't give him a Porsche to compensate...

The warband is not quite finished though... Im not satisfied with my Swordsmen, the look to plain...

    Re: Mordheim structures

This afternoon I built the first of many bridges to connect the four sections of the city. As you can see, this bridge looks a lot like it's larger cousin (somewhere on the first page).

    You shall not pass!!!

The reason I'm building bridges using wood is quite simple... The table I purchased is bases on centimeters, the plaster block I use are all based on inches... Most of you will know that both of these don't mix well. I use the wooden bridges to overcome the difference that would be very problematic if only plaster is to be used... Furthermore, I think they look good...

C & C is as welcome as always...

    Agreed, the bridge looks great.

Do you have a plan of how the table will look once it is finished or do you improvise?
And how much plaster have you used up so far?

I'm currently waiting for an additional Hirst Arts moulds to complement the two I already have and then I'll start on some Mordheim terrain as well.

The original plan was to build four flat sections, but as you can see I've added some raised areas as well. The trees are another feature I've come up with during building.

As for the buildings, I have some rough idea's (mostly stolen from other threads around here) which will evolve as I start building them.

And how much plaster have you used up so far?
That must be somewhere near 10 kg... The end is nowhere in sight, today another bag of 25 kg will be delivered at my house.

Just make sure you post some pics here on Warseer! I'm sure we would all like to see more... Which molds are you using?

So far I have the Dragon's Inn Mold #51 and the Fieldstone Wall Mold #70.
    Currently waiting for these:
    Gothic Dungeon Builder #45
    6" Round Fieldstone Mold #73
    Round Connector Pieces Mold #164
Floor Tiles Various Sizes Mold #201
    Fieldstone Slab Mold #261

And I'm just shopping around for a 25kg bag of plaster as well.

Pictures are likely to appear in my log around mid August.

    Re: Mordheim structures

Those Hirst Arts molds are just fantastic... I have mine for about five years now, and they still are in great condition.

After two days of casting plaster, the result can be seen below... A huge pile of plaster blocks ready to be sorted.

Fffffrgmble *foams* That is a lot of stuff!! Amazing though, you're really doing a good job here.

Any plans on the painting of the buildings? Or are you going to wait until it's all built?

    Re: Mordheim structures

After a few hours of building, this is the result...

The second section of the board is mostly finished. It still needs stairs and a floor on the raised level, but other than that, it's done!

As you can see, both sections are very alike in style. The other half of the table will be done in a similar manner... Two sections, probabely both with a raised level.

So, please leave a comment, let me know what you think.

Painting it will be a group effort... I won't be painting that all by myself! As soon as the entire board is finished, we will play test the table to see if there are any modifications to be made. Afer that we will spend a few nights painting... If I can sucker my friends to join me, that is...

    Re: Mordheim structures

    First paint!

When you want something done right, you have to do it yourself... So I figured I should start painting myself. Faster than I expected , this only took me an hour or two. I'm not quite satisfied with the details yet, but the color looks good.

As basecoat I used a mix of black and something called soft grey. This gives me a shade of dark grey with just a hint of something brown. I dry brushed this with the soft grey for an almost beige finish... For the arches and corner stones I used another highlight of bleached bone to really make them stand out.

The pictures do the actual work little justice, but here are two anyway...

The painting look good so far and I really like the slight beige colour you have going there. Any plans to dirty the place up a bit in the painting?

    Re: Mordheim structures

Another building more or less done... This one will be fixed directly onto the board. I made a special base on one of the raised sections, using the exact dimensions of the building. It really towers over the table, giving any marksmen inside a spectacular view... To counter this, as we don't want missile weapons to dominate our games, I will just keep building more high structures.

As you can see the base fitst the building...

Together with the other buildings I have done, it really starts to look like a city...
