Thanks! The paint scheme is rather simple... First I apply a layer of black undercoat, followed by a layer of Burnt Umber (a colour much like Scorched Brown) and finally a dry brush of Bestial Brown.
Check out my Mordheim scenery! NOW! I mean... Please... Only if you want to of course...

Castles can be fun. THAT said...why not just put a wall around the town? Murder holes, boiling water, arrows ALL kinds of surprise goodies built in of course.

Epic gaming board! Those gallows are really cool, and the tree is amazing, reminds of the lord of the rings tree

Now, if I could only get my hands on some Boreas clone mix so that I could grow my own Boreas to build me a table like this...

I had a few ideas to share, but I'm frightened that you'll go crazy and do them all... well, here goes.

To add to the canals you might want a ruined jetty that could be modularly added to a section of the canal. Alternatively, you could do row boats (for smugglers, and ne'erdowells), or maybe lost children on a raft (any of these could be objectives or hazards). Canal monsters would be cool also.

Stray animals, like rats, mice, owls, dogs, pigeons, hawks, cats, and bats added on to buildings or other terrain pieces (perhaps even on their own) would make the city have a more realistic feel, as stray animals will move into any place humans abandon (likewise with weeds and grasses in the cracks of stones and buildings)

Stray humans is also an idea. Orphaned children, shanty tents with vagrants, corpses, and hidden criminals might spice the place up even more. (I like the idea of a cat burglar on the roof)

You could do a walled/fenced off park with trees and gardens.

You could do a crater with a meteor in it, to add to the ruined-ness of the city.

All the buildings are amazing, very strongly tied together by theme. An unusual building, like a brewery, distillery, shrine, school, temple, or church could give you very strong contrast while maintaining your style.

In regards to Stirland, Wurtbad is renowned for its natural hot springs, which may lead to bath houses, and houses of ill repute (since people are getting used to shedding clothes anyway)

Anyway, I hope some of these ideas inspire you as you have totally inspired me.

Just wondering what's happened to this thread? Has Boreas stopped?! That cannot be.

When the night gets cold and dark, and all hope seems to have faded from the world, I think of Boreas' Mordheim terrain and I'm no longer afraid.

    Please return to us.

Re: My own little corner of Mordheim...

Thanks for the feedback guys! Rest assured, Mordheim will not be forgotten and neither will I ever stop making terrain... The project has taken a back seat in favor of my Stirlanders (check them out, hit the link in my sig) but I might return to Mordheim sooner than I anticipated...

While browsing this forum I stumbled upon these beauties (in this thread) and I immediately decided I needed a new Warband! Sure, I have more than enough Empire mini's to choose from but I couldn't get these out of my head.

I lifted the best pics from his website... Enjoy!

You should really check out this WEBSITE for a lot of more cool pictures! The models are still pre-order and I hope the casting commends asap! I've got my name down for a set of these!

Best of all, he also offers a complete range of rather cute Halflings!

Well, I'm excited. It also occurred to me that I wasn't subscribed here, as well, so I thought I'd drop in and melt my brain from all the awesomeness one more time. Great stuff here, my Dutch friend!

Re: My own little corner of Mordheim...

    Thanks for the continued support!

I do have an update for you, albeit not a fully Mordheim one...

Some of you might know I have quite a sizable (well over 160 parts) modular dungeon, mostly for use with WFRP and Mordheim, made from Hirst blocks... I started building the dungeon years ago and have added to it ever since. Lately, most of my time has been absorbed by my Mordheim board and my Stirlanders and the dungeon project has been almost dormant...

However, this got me all motivated again... New molds from Hirst! Seeing multiple other logs featuring Hirst stuff always get's me all excited... I already ordered a set of these molds and even got a confirmation that my order is already on it's way... Yay!

Sooooooo, long story short: I've cleared my table and put out all the pieces on display... It shocked me that so little was painted (why that should be a surprise should be a shock on itself) at least to a good standard and I decided to set myself a challenge (and a big one too)!

All the pieces, ranging from very small to very, very big with mutliple levels... Painting plaster is a lot of work, it's quite hard to get an even coat of paint...

The only piece painted to an acceptable standard... This will most likely be repainted, too...

So here's the challenge: I am going to paint my whole dungeon (or at least 150 pieces) before the end of this year... Crazy? Probably... Stupid? Hell yes.. Possible? Maybe... Luckily I won't be doing it all alone, FBI has offered to help me (or has he)... Why only 150 pieces and not the whole set? There are multiple pieces that aren't as well built as I would like and they might get scrapped if I can't get them painted right... I will also include plenty of doors and furniture (most of which still needs to be painted, too). Add to that I have plenty ideas for more pieces, I have a lot of work to do: stuff to paint, plaster blocks to cast, pieces to build...

    Challenge accepted?

Here's a shot of only a part of the dungeon while in use for a game of Warhammer Skirmish... I amost have enough to fill my whole table...

Thanks for watching! More updates coming soon! As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please let me know what you think, and, if you're feeling adventurous, feel free to rate my thread (141 votes and counting)...

Re: My own little corner of Mordheim...

If I may give a suggestion, you should focus on trying to get more pronounced contrasts. When you look at the pieces "as is", they're actually quite well painted already (I sound so "holier than thou" saying that, sorry ), but when you look at them from afar, they give quite the monochrome feeling. You should try and darken areas where you picture shadows, and put highlights on the edges where you figure local lights would shine. That would make it all so much livelier. Well, my two cents.
