These look really really good. Since they are scouts/skirmishers you have an opportunity to make a creative matching smirmish movement tray... that 1/2" between models can be a a great place to add more trees and other details.

Amazing scouts! This log Has been one I really look forward to seeing updated. Your wood elves and conversions are downright inspiring!

Re: Guardians of the Shadowglades ~ Wood Elves

@Niereman - Thanks, steal away, I was inspired by quite a few plogs myself when making this unit.

@Ender Shadowkin - Cheers. Yeah, it'd be a great way to try add some more atmosphere to the army. I have a couple of skirmisher unit trays made up using the plastic kit and sprue to split it up but haven't yet decorated either of them, haven't really had any major inspiration or them yet. Even my regular movement trays are plain old grey at the moment. I've never made up a movement tray before so I'm not too sure how to go about it yet. Getting some practice in on the dragon's base, but there's a lot more space on that and I've only had to design it around one model.

Are you done for the time being with your wood elves or are you going to add more stuff at a later date?
I need to comment on your Chaos Dwarf log btw, those juggernaut/minotaur conversions look great.

@Ludaman - Thanks, always nice to hear. This has probably been one of my more productive periods recently. I decided that if I wasn't going to paint anything in Spain then I should at least finish off some conversions. Now I'm just disappointed I didn't bring the treeman with me because I haven't got anything left to work on.

Thanks for asking! Wood elves will always be my #1 Warhammer crush, I just don't have much to work on though. I've got some half painted wardancers and wild riders, but not to motivated as I'm unlikely to field them. Also , I'm committed to gaming with the chaos dwarves so I need to finish them...feel free to chime in on that plog I could use some constructive criticism here and there

@lilloser2010 - Thank you, although as a collection it is still on the small side, got a lot more painting to go yet.
Love following your dark elves, it is really inspirational, particularly in terms of conversions, I've never seen so much love go into a core unit. Seeing stuff like that
on warseer really shows what's possible in the hobby, helps me to try and push the boat out with converting units

@Ender Shadowkin - Thanks for posting the link. Unfortunately there wasn't an image when I followed it. Do you have to be a member to see the images?
I can see how it'd be hard to find the motivation if you won't use them much. Shame you won't be adding much soon. I hope to build a tree centerpiece like yours one day
for a piece of themed scenery. Also, have you had much success with your wild riders in the army? How do you use them?

ok lets see if I can upload it directly here...never tried uploading directly using my phone, looks like it popped up at the bottom

I have had fun with the wild riders, but they are definetly a little tricky. I used mine in my last list intandem with the dragon to combo charge things. That way he could not get trapped into a challenge, so they were super useful in that list.

They are also supper fast and with the vanguard move you can get 30" away for where you delployed them first turn. Which can play some fun mind games with your opponent , Man drawback (besides cost) are that They are just t3 and fragile so you have to pick your fights.

Re: Guardians of the Shadowglades ~ Wood Elves

Thanks Ender, that's a major help, really impressive basing. Nice colour scheme too.
Looks like he used flock, will have to consider adding that to my basing and movement trays.
I will have to consider adding logs and stuff to the bases of my waywatcher as well, up till now I had only really planned on
painting the models as they are, but this could bring some much needed variation.

Thanks for the tactics, with the games I've played with the wild riders they've had mixed impact. Maybe I can combine them with a transformed Beastweaver
to the same effect. I plan to buff the unit up to ten too and have a stag noble accompany them.

It'll probably be a couple of months before I update anything here, have to wait till I get back to England before I can paint some more,
I've run out of things to convert here. Having said that, I might add some wrapping to the bows of the scouts, not sure.

    Cheers,
    Elfboy

Well, so much for not updating...
I'm started to get excited about the prospect of painting when I get back home, and to try and tide me by until I get back I've been finishing off some sketches,
which I use to try out and record ideas for conversions. I've taken a photo of a sketch for my treeman conversion, I've started to develop a clearer idea of how
I want it to come out. This is more or less how I want the finished article to look, although if you have any suggestions they'll be very welcome.

You can compare it to the photo of the WIP on page 14 to see how it'll hopefully come together.

i havn't been here much recently as you said you were going away but when i came on a couple of weeks ago i was blown away by the progress you've made on these amazing models i think yu deserve a little round of applause *clap clap clap clap clap* and pat yourself on the back these are amazing

but i still think you should make warhawks they would be amazing i would like to say that the paint scheme on the GG is phenomenal the dark and the highlights gosh so brilliant well done

congratulations how big are the units are you deploying the glade guard in (personally i go for 5x2 cos theyre maneuvarable but still fire efficent)

    well done!

Remarkably, the first thing I noticed from the sketch is the fact that you speak Spanish.

@slirgy - Thanks,*pat pat*, and in a bout of egoism I even joined you in an applause as well . Truth be told though, overall I am pleased with how the sculpting came out, it's been a un learning process. I won't keep it going with making warhawks though, despite the act I want to include some. I've still got plenty to paint and the treeman and more wild riders to sculpt, plus I want to wait until some more wood elf plastics are released (whenever that may be) so that I have a wider range of parts to work with, I've used the glade guard and glade riders kits a lot already. And if they release plastic warhawk riders, all the better!
I've been using glade guard in two regiments of 10 and one of sixteen with the flaming banner, although I want to test out a horde of 30 flanked by eternal guard and a treeman. I was hoping that the twenty stand and shoot shots would deter enemies from charging them, plus 30 attacks isn't to bad if they do get into combat. The units on their flanks would be able to intercept attackers if needs be. I thought it sounded tactically sound although put into action I might discover that it's mere foolishness.

@Lord Dan - I was in what we call "Spanish mode", once I realised I'd started writing the notes in Spanish I thought I might as well continue! Unfortunately it doesn't always come out my mouth quite the same as it comes out of a pen...

That's a great sketch! I wish I could draw like that. Looks really good so far. It blends very well with the current GW Wood Elf design aesthetic .

Well, I go away for a while and you jump 10 pages! Really nice work all round. The wild rider musician is my favourite, I think. Those brass etch leaves work really well. I'm looking forward to seeing how you paint them up. Have you thought about how you're going to do the tattoos yet? Sketches. More. Please!

The spellsinger is nice - one of the best models from the range. I should probably get around to painting mine

I like the eagle feathers. Are you going for a realistic look? What are you using as a reference?

Have to say I'm not so keen on the limegreen on the glade guard. I always thought that bright yellow on the army book looked a bit odd, I don't think it really fits with the tone of your army. If you're set on it, try doing it with turquoise object source lighting ? If you're just looking for a spot colour, try a dark red-brown. Just don't overdo it, or use bright red or you'll have them looking like Christmas trees!

Hope you and Spain are well.

Re: Guardians of the Shadowglades ~ Wood Elves

@Kroq9Gar - Glad to be an inspiration.

@Ender Shadowkin - Thanks, I wanted to incorporate design elements found on the dryads such as the loincloth (or housewife apron as it is less affectionately known), back branches etc as I love those aesthetic details, but to make them more rugged, plus less refined so that it doesn't just look like a giant male dryad. But yeah, I am hoping it will come out looking like it belonged to the current GW range... fanboy that I am

@MichaelJames - Cheers or the kind words. By the way those naginata worked a treat on the wild riders, thanks or the recommendation. Not sure about the tattoos yet, the horses will definitely have some markings. If I do tattoos on the riders they will be like my wardancers', but I want some markings on the masks too so I don't know if skin tattoos will be too much. Guess I'll find out when I get around to it.
The eagle is based on photos of golden eagles, and I'm trying to keep it pretty realistic but with some exaggeration. I've since changed the 200 watt glowing yellow-green to the same colour as the fletching on the rest of the glade guard. That yellow wasn't really working, although I'm still tempted to include it in the army somehow, I like the magical quality it has on the army book cover.
And Spain is great thanks, I'm sweating like a englishman out here!

@Fanny Crowbar - Thanks, your avatar takes me back a bit, as kids cartoons go it was pretty depressing, I remember a kestrel eating her own friend once!

I've just flicked through this start to finish, it's a brilliant log! Also the improvement from start to most recent is immense, your sculpting especially stands out, it fits the wood elf style perfectly, I can't wait to see the riders and GG painted up
