Kabal of the Crimson Woes (MrChaos Dark Eldar Blog of Doom!)

I had always wanted to start a Dark Eldar army, for me the plastic models are pretty ok. Seeing that Dark Eldar 'may' arrive in 2010 I am preparing for the hopefully incoming release.

I wanted to try my hands on some conversion, so I went ahead and made a female Dracon Lord with the two-handed Punisher weapon.




Now lies a problem, I'm having trouble thinking up of a color scheme. Some suggestions are greatly welcomed.

Well, black, purple and red are classice choices. How about doing something along those lines (+metallics) for the main model, and then do something else with the scaled cloak, like maybe ice blue and white (think ice world)?

Or you could always paint them black and bright yellow, queen bee style. I'm listening to W.A.S.P. right now, so that might be it... (crappy pun, I know, but I couldn't resist )

The punisher could probably do with being a little bit shorter and straighter as its currently bent at the part where it connects with the hand, it right now looks like a spear and I think it would just be a lot more focused and easier to transport if you shortened it a little.

Allright here's the completed Archon. I've painted her with a mix of turquoise, purple and red colors.

Here is the main color scheme for my Dark Eldar army.
-The hair for all the Dark Eldars will be red
-Skin will be a mix of grey and dwarf flesh
-Cloth and tabards will be purple
-Armor will be black with a highlight of turquoise

Wow. That's a really cool mini. The painting is spot on. What's next? You should definitively do some Incubi, those models are simply timeless and would look great even alongside new models possibly released in the future...

I've always liked the Dark Eldar, just never liked the minis.

What was that head you used?

A run down of the bitz I used to convert the Archon.

-The head is from the Wood Elf Glade Guard
-Arms and weapon from the Dark Elf Cold One Knights
-Cloak from the Dark Elf Black Ark Corsairs
-Body and legs from Dark Eldar Warriors

I chance upon Doghouse's impressive conversion blogs and his conversion on a Wych using the plastic deamonettes catches my eye. I'll be stealing that idea if you don't mind.

Here are the Dark Eldar Warriors. I will be fielding 40 of them so I am keeping the painting simple.

Gee they look like supervillian henchmens with bio weapons of doom!

The turquoise is a special mix I made. Colors added to the mixing pot are:
-Chaos Black
-Regal Blue
-Goblin Green

Awesome conversion and awesome painting, the color scheme looks great and I really like the black.

I didn't fancy the the official Wyches. Being metal and all plus, they are a bit heavy on the wallet.

So taking inspiration from Doghouse's Dark Eldar Wyches conversion here's my try on a Wych Succubus with Agoniser.

I'll have to put the Wyches on hold until my shipment of DE stuff arrive as I have ran out of Dark Eldar legs.

A tip, in the second ed codex, they only have CC and pistols, no fancy wych weapons =/

Love the dynamic of the models, but a bit more Hair would look cooler IMO

You mean on the next codex? Well I can always count the wyches as using splinter pistols and CCW.

I'm hoping there will be plastic Wyches on the next DE update.
