OJ, Bob and Rubicon's tale of 3 painters....

Hey there, bob_the_small, Rubicon and myself have finally begun our project log which will feature numerous 40k armies, from Salamanders to Eldar and Space Wolves to Cadians. Hopefully this log will show our progress as painters, modellers and gamers over the coming months.

The armies I will try to stay focussed on are:

    Salamanders
    Blood Axe orks
And a hell of a lot of Guard regiments (just couldn't stick to one could I )

Anywho, enough talking here are the pics. Enjoy!

This is my Salamander dreadnought, still WIP.

More pictures to follow in next post!

Here are the Praetorians, made using Wargames Factory British zulu firing line bodies. They are by no means perfect, but I simply don't have the money to spend £4 per Praetorian on ebay

Okay guys, here is my first post for this log, I'm sure Rubicon will post soon, he is away atm so, without further ado, here are the armies I am going to be doing:

    Eldar : Craftworld Alaitoc
    Space Wolves
    Daemons of Chaos

So, here are my converted squads of Grey Hunters with one handed bolters, these are extremely WIP and since I took the pics, I have made a few changes to the coluor scheme and I have fully paited a few more, so expect updates soonish....

A couple of pics of my Daemons( I also want to use them for fantasy, hence the square bases)

    My herald

    And my bloodletters

    An update to follow mid-week!

I like your style, its really effective. If there is anything I can suggest it would be to clean up the freehand a bit, especially the checkers. Just thin the black a little and clean it up nice

Flames are very, very hard to freehand at first. Try to not make them taper to a point as much as they should flare out and then come back together

    the praetorians are perfect

Thanks for the advice on the flames, I am struggling to get them to a TT standard at the moment, but I guess I will have to keep practising. Your log is seriously inspiring FearFrost.

That is about the ratio, alas. Really impressive painting. I was particularly impressed at the Praetorians, but it must be a massive amount of work into each mini...worth it for an entire army?

The new dreadnoughts look amazing, and your paintjob brings out the best of them.

    Yeah would love CC...

On the Praetorian front, it does take me about 2+ hours to make a simple sqquad of five. However my GS skills are definately improving with every attempt. I am not sure if I will do a full army though, as it looks as if Nick (for anyone reading this is our local GW manager) won't let me use them in store

Could you PM me the pics of the new dreads, thanks shavvy

Edit- 3 comments, come on guys really want some feedback...

Good to have you aboard Rubicon. Will you be mainly focusing on your new guard? Oh and I love the commisars shiny boots

Yes this will initially be mainly Guard, although I may dabble in other things!

You have a good eye for detail OJ. Perhaps you could thin your paints a little more when highlighting. Your weathering is nice and harsh.

By the way, the link in your sig is broken. There seems to be some extra junk inside angled brackets after the word "forums".

Lovely painting. My suggestion is to drill out the gun barrels

    Keep up the good work.

Re: OJ, Bob and Rubicon's tale of 3 painters....

    Hey again everyone.

@Maharajah, I hope for my sakes () you are referring to the paint job on the Dread, it is really thick (Bob has nagged me to death about it ) as it used to be an Ultramarine.

@TheDarkDuke I am really bad at drilling holes, I'll see if I can get Bob to do it for me...

    Blood Axe Orks

I am only 15, and I still paint with a sort of cartoon style, with these guys I wanted to keep that but with some toning down. Big thanks to El Diablo (not sure if he is still on Warseer) whose orks are the inspiration to mine. Everything here has been done quickly in order to achieve a TT standard. Anyway enough yacking here are the pics:

If there is enough interest I'll post up the Warboss later...

Okay, a quick update here :

    My work area

A finished wave serpent (you may notice that this is better than my standard, but OJ is attempting to help me with all things yellow, any easy and quick tips for painting yellow - I'm all ears)

A very WIP falcon, just the blue basecoated

And some Fire Dragons, Striking scorpions and Wolf Scouts in the pipeline

    More pictures to follow.
