Sparda's Log- Ultramarines, Orcs, and others

[Sparda]

An original name for a painting log, but I couldn't think of anything else to name it. So this is my new painting log after the other one failed, due to me leaving the hobby for about a year. Anyways, some pics of stuff I have been painting, mostly some Death Korp I'm painting for a friend and my Orcs I got off ebay. I also have some Ultramarines that I haven't taken pictures of, but those will come eventfully.

A Vostroyan that I painted for fun, I think it turned out pretty good, minus the face. I need some practice on them.


Some Orcs I painted up. I'm wondering if I should choose Orcs or Dogs of War as my Fantasy army, any advice on this would be appriciated. Overall, the Orcs are decent, but could have been better. Still WIP on the metals and the rear ranks.


A Dog of War/Empire General. I like the way the metal turned out, but I think it could still use a wash of Black ink. The head looks kind of weird from this angle...

The Death Korp I'm painting for my friend. I'm not entirelly happy about them, but he thinks they look alright.

The Death Korp still need backpacks and squad markings, the dwarfs need work on their beards and faces, and everything needs to be based.

I'm going to post most of my Ultramarines army now, they aren't nearlly as good as the one posted above. I'm hoping to collect a whole company eventually, I'm about halfway there.
So some pics-

The First squad I painted, Squad Two of the Second Company.

Squad Three, painted a week or so after Squad Two. Still needs to have the Sargent's head repainted. I covered the Plasma dude with sacred litanies or whatever to prevent his weapon from blowing up, and I like the effect.

Squad Four, more of so a mix between Four and Five, due to my inabilty to remember what squad I was working on....

And Squad Five, which I hope to finish painting by this saturday. I still need to order arms for most of them though.

My favorite model out of the bunch, here is where I want the quality of painting to be for them all. But I'm not going to bother restripping them all again.

I have no clue what to do with this guy. I was just messing around with different shades of blue. He turned out pretty nice, but the yellow strioe ruins it IMO.
I have a dread and two Rhinos i'm going to post tomorrow, and thats all I have painted unless you guys want to see some 1/72 US Infantry.

They look good, the first Ultra at the top is especially good, nice highlighting. The DOW knight, does need a bit more wash to give it depth, looks a bit samey at the mo!

But a solid start, keep going

Anyways, thank you and Eltanko for the comments. My Camera ran out of batteries, and I didn't start on the squad. But I do have pics of the Rhinos and some terrain I've been making for WFB.-

I got the trench coats and the leather done on some Death Korp, I'm hoping to get these guys finished by the end of August. After this squad I have another Firing squad and a Stormtrooper sguad, along with basing and such.

I really enjoyed painting these guys, los of detail and a cool subject. I really wish GW would make an Arabyan list.

I decided to start a Dogs of War army instead of Orcs, but I'm not paying $55 for 12 pikemen. after looking online a bit I found the Old Glory range and am wondering how the quality is. I found some pictures of painted ones, but still not sure if I should buy them. Any advice from people who have? $30 for 30 guys seems like a great deal, compared to Foundry's, Perry's and GW's relative high pricing.

My Schedule for the next month is two DKOK and either 3 Orcs or 2 State Troops per day. Hopefully this will get the Death Korp and the Orcs finished by the end of the month. Last night I painted some Empire troops in a Talabheim scheme.

My Ultramarines and Warhammer guys after a battle. My Ultramarines got decimated by artillery but the command squad took out 4 squads by themselves. I'm giving them a promotion!

In Fantasy I played the orcs in some 500 point games. I one 2, but lost two. But, overall it was a great day as we introduced two more guys to the hobby.

Some updates!
Ultramarines-

I picked up some old blisters at my local gaming store at %60 off. Nothing for Orcs, DOW, or SM, but some Empire-

I haven't updated in a while due to football and a non wargaming related project. A 1/700 Scale model of the USS Lexington. This one looks better then my aircraft .

Crappy pic, but thats what you get for taking pictures in a basement.
What I've finished and don't have pics for-

2 Librarians, one in Terminator armor

And then after that theirs some Handgunners and a canon. And I need to get arms for the Ultramarines. But the only thing I really have to finish is the Death Korp, I've had those guys since the start of summer and my friend is looking forward to gaming with them soon.

Tactical Marines-

A redo of squad 4, I decided to add a squad marking to the kneecap to make it easier to pick out the different squads.-

I'm going to try to sell the Empire guys to my friend, and if that deal goes through then I'll be getting Bfsp, where I can probally sell the dwarfs to another friend. After that any advice? As in army composition for Orcs and Goblins. I'm kind of stumped on what's effective or not, pretty much all I've heard is that the Orcs are much better in this edition and regular Goblins suck. Again, any advice welcomed!
