So pics kind of took some of the shading out, but what can you do? Proud of the tank though, and these guys look really good on the gaming table. I'm not sure which system to use, but am leaning towards Blitzkrieg Commander.

Back again! This time with some, guess what, more Black Orcs! Yeah!
These are the new ones. These five are WIP, with just the metal done. Armor needs one more Highlight.
Here they are in their unit.
I apologize for the pictures. I think I'm getting better painting these guys but I admit that some of the guys need another go over with the red to ad a bit more strong of a color, but I'm lazy and you only notice it up close.the new ones will be getting that extra layer though. Got these and 4 more and then I am done with black orcs. After that I'm either saying this army to be done or buying Mantic for rank and file, depending on where I'm at in a half a year.

And know to put the random in random project logs.
1/16 DML German infantryman. Need to buy some filler for this guys neck! Insert joke about pepsi can too.
1/1200 USS Enterprise. You may think it lacks detail but shes smaller than a 1/700 Tico and only a hair longer than a Perry.
Pike test model.
Warlord 30 years war pike and shot. I like these models but I really hate assembling them. They have no instructions and the kit is intended for certain sets of arms to go on certain bodies, so its a hassle to go through and find the right matches. But saying that they are very nice figures. The handgunners would go very well with an Empire army as long as you don't mind the heroic v. truescale. The difference between the two is not much of a bother as to me it does not jump out to you when you paint them unless you are right on top of them or have small units. I want to double duty these guys and use them in both historical and warhammer. Well, until next time! C&C welcome on the Pike!

what are the pikes made of, I can imagine the pikes bending and beaking al the time!Especially when they are plastic... is tha

Yeah, they are plastic. The set came with 4 brass pikes but I'm just going to use those for the metal pikemen that came with the set. I don't think the plastic will bend because it is a pretty hard plastic but I am worried about them breaking. Worst comes to worst I'll just replace them with some Perry ones!
Some orcs!
Not terribly new but this is what I'm going after for these guys. they will also get their cloths repainted to fit in as a unit as I don't like the different colors anymore.
And back to warlord's pikes.
WIP command group.
The other half of the box set.
I don't even know why I bought these guys. Some Saxon Thegns from Gripping beast. I originally meant to order Wargames Factory saxons but due to them shipping the wrong set I got these guys instead. I'm not complaining. 44 guys for 16 bucks is a great deal.
I really need C & C on the shields. I tried giving them a brown wash to make them look more worn but I'm not sure what I think of it yet. And another question is should I have the same shield design or mix them up? Thanks in advance!
Got the German guy finished.
This guy should get a sling made out of paper but that detail is for another day. The markings on his neck also need to get fixed. Painting white is a bitch, especially on something like that. For him I tried out a lot of things I heard online, like adding some red to the cheeks, nose and lips and adding some purple under they eyes.

that is some really nice painting on that German figure where is it from
Pike and shot regiment, complete except base rims/flags-
Pike alone-
Shot-

And because we all love a triple post, some more pictures!
Firelocks-
Cavalry-
I decided to scrap the unit mentality with the Saxons and went for a more historical individual look and I really like the result.
Overall I am really happy with how the Pike and Shot turned out. The unit looks good individually and as a group. The basing is simple and in my opinion looks good. The Saxons I am still pretty happy with but the unit suffers from my laziness. I put them together with little regard to how they rank up and I left some of the parts from the sprue on the shields. They still look good from table top level, so that's good. If you hadn't figured it out I ordered the Warlord army box, so look for more cavalry and pike here!
In other news I'm going to be trying out Mantic's figures. I have wanted to pick some up for a while and finally put in an order with the Warstore. I got a little bit of everything because they were cheap and I heard if you aren't sold on the sculpts that they look better in person.
nice work on your historical stuff!
The black orcs look mighty fine too! Red is FASTER!![]()
Back from the dead! Again!
First part of my semi-massive update is a little diorama I've been working on. what I need to do here is add some more grass on the areas you can still see the Styrofoam and where the grass is flaking off. Needs about 2 0r 3 trees to complete the landscape. The tank is pretty much in the place I want it. My idea behind this is having a squad of Americans marching behind the tank with some Germans waiting in ambush. Any other ideas of what I could do with this are appreciated. I'm stuck in the 15mm-20mm scale. I'm planning to just use 1/72 plastics.
Wargames factory Greek. I heard a lot about wargames factory and a lot of it is probably by people who never bought the figures. I am willing to admit that some of the poses look a bit wonky but you have to make sure that your assembling them as they are meant to be, You cant go crazy with creating a bunch of poses. I also think the pose quality is kind of low. A regiment of these guys would make a unit look like a group of rabble, but for 16 bucks these problems can be tolerated. I bought the Greeks, Romans, German warband and Saxon Fyrd. The figures are decent but well priced. These Greeks are by far the best of the bunch. The only thing I really don't like is the way they set up the hands, lack of bases and time it takes to assemble the models. That is really what lets plastic down. It's not so bad with games workshop were you don't have as many models but I think I'll be buying more metals from now on.
WGF Roman, these poses aren't awful but I wish you could make the whole unit in the same pose.
WGF Saxon Fyrd. You can see the poor poses here. By the way if your making these figures

And for what I'm sure most of you want to see, Fantasy! Ok not GW but still some solid models. The only thing I hate about mantic is the amount of armor they put on their models.
A figure I painted for my little sister, Reaper grey maiden.

And I lied a bit. Expect some If my order from GW comes in before new year I bought the tyranid hunters, an orc shaman and that new graveyard of mor. Strangely when you have an income GW doesn't seem like your paying an arm and a leg, just an arm.

That's a lot of different figs from different places in one page!
I really appreciate the reviews you give to the figs. Personal project logs like yours do offer another perspective other than the professional ones. It's always nice to hear what people think of the various miniatures out there.
I think one of the problems with historical minis is that there are just so many of them! For me it was tough to get into historicals so I want to give as much insight on as many figures I can manage. I'm glad you appreciate my humble opinion!
So I'm getting a few figures through the mail now. Got more coming tommorrow. I wont be able to touch many of these because I'm going to FNM with my brother and two sisters and then I'm headed back down south, leaving my legions to sit on he shelf, eagerly waiting my return.
Crusader minis, wow am I impressed. Bought them off of Old Glorys site before they stopped stocking the range and I'm going to be buying a lot more. I got enough for a Norman army(Plus some of the plastic Knights from the warstore.) 2 units of spears and one each of dismounted knights and crossbowmen.
Everything a man needs, Normans, Magic Cards and a rip it!
And I also the Adventurers Crusader makes. Love these models.

Nice to see more historicals in the random section. Thanks for the reviews too. Have a good new year.

The game looks really cool! But how come there's a mix of figs and formations? What rules were you using?
