I've gone with plasma and meltaguns, with BS4 and the orders it seemed the best place, plus it has enough firepower at 12" to ruin marines light tanks, or even heavy tanks with the meltaguns.

Ah I meant Company command, for platoon flamers all the way, rush up flame (with the chimera helping as well) to take objectives.

I have a list based on 2 30 man merged platoons. Rather than shoehorn in vets or a second command squad (would have cost me something else as I was short points already), I just gave the platoon command squad 3 meltaguns and popped them in rhinos to act in the role of melta vets. They aren't quite as good, but when supporting my other anti-tank elements, they can get the job done (and are only 60 pts + vox + chimera twice over to cover that niche).
I normally keep my platoon command squad with four meltaguns in my vendetta. Because of terrain and having a mech list navigating tanks to good positions is very important but we dont always put our chimeras in the best spot everytime. I use the squad as a aplha strike force against tanks that my chimeltas cant reach because of terrain or my opponent playing very well. The valkyrie allows me to avoid terrain and move next to a tank and disembark and fire at it, however I usually will issue bring it down on the squad which makes up for the bs3. Because of the chimera we have a 24 inch order range, it is usually more then enough to keep up with valkyries and their cargo.
However, I wouldnt use platoon command squad with meltaguns as one of my main anti-tank option unless I know i can issue the order on them, especially in smaller games where 40pts is alot. I think my advice will start to be better as I am now playing smaller games.

Phil Kelly is Tzeentch!
If you want to write an article specifically about Planetstrike then that could be great, but bear in mind that sprinkling Planetstrike ideas in amongst other articles probably won't be tremendously useful. It would be like someone giving advice on Storm Troopers and then randomly adding in tips for Storm Troopers in Cities of Death. The PDF covers basic tactics and overviews for new players, so in my view trying to cover the various 40k expansion rules as well would need dedicated articles rather than a few paragraphs tacked on to a specific unit article.
If both Micha and CKO would like to write an article on a similar topic, I would appreciate it if you could organise among yourselves whether or not you genuinely have enough new material for two additional articles on top of the existing one, making sure you don't cover the same things. I don't want to be feeling deja vu when it comes to editing.

Im starting to prep for a tourney next month and was wondering if ya'll would give your opinions on this list I wrote up for it.
Here
I know this probably belongs in a wishlist thread somewhere, but I really hope in the next codex many years down the line they release some sort of Jeep/HUMV and perhaps another transport similar to an Ork Trukk.
You could call the Jeep a Wyvern, make it AV10 all around, open topped, arm it with a twinlinked Heavy Stubber, make is fast, can be squadroned in units of up to three, and it could cost around 35-45pts. Maybe even give it an autocannon upgrade or hell make it have two heavy stubbers instead of twinlinked ones.
The trucks could be called Mules, AV10 all around, open topped, caryy 12 models, and cost around 30pts and have the option to take a heavy stubber.
Well, this is just my bored musings while I sit at my desk at work with nothing else to do.
For us, there is no spring, just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.
Jeeps should have a transport capacity of... One
Also: option for taking a missile launcher would be awesome.
Hello gents of the Imperial guard tactica....some questions!!!!!!!
I have been toying with a mech guard list, and have been dismayed at the quick death that often greets my deployed vets as their vendettas appear from the sides of the board.
In a quest to find something that can get out of the Vendetta, shoot and actually survive some return fire, i hit upon sisters of battle. 110pts gets you ten (and you can go up to 12!) at BS4 with a 3+ save.
And, as far as I can tell, they can take orders! Result.
So far, i've been toying with an 11 lady squad, flamer and heavy flamer to take full advantage of faith points/rending bolters, popping out to shield other vendetta-born squads and to take the brunt of assaults. As well as this, "fire on my target" to force re-rolls of cover saves makes them no so-terrible at taking out low save troops.
Just thought Id see what the consensus was!

Technically they can receive orders by strict RAW, but it's kinda sketchy to me.
that said, putting sisters in a Valk or vendetta is a great idea and gives you a rather survivable unit to hit an opponent from a flank with.

Sketchy to say the least i take the line of play them to how they are in each Codex citing the rule precident that DH & WH Codices set with allies to there forces. As i put down in another thread though about time us older gamers in BRB need a section that includes rules like Allies and such.
Well, the codex says any friendly infantry unit within the officers order range.
They could have put friendly guard unit....but didn't! However, I would be happy to play that as a non-goer; I was more interested in anyone else's experiments with flying nuns!!!!!
NR
Any friendly non-vehicle unit within command range may be issued orders. It's a little weird, but not ambiguous.
