Given the momentous occasion (and because I can't be bothered to hunt through 500 pages), I just thought I'd ask: has the Tactica Imperium PDF been updated since it was initially put up for download?

Am I correct in thinking we're the only Tactica that has an awesome PDF like this?

The Eldar have one... but it must be said ours is rather out of date.

You accuse me of being a Madman.
What right do you have to judge what is sane and what is not?
Maybe not a full re-write, but perhaps an add-on to it. A sort of "As 5th edition winds towards it's end, here are the things we learned along the way since the writing of the tactica."
Well we can't let those damned pointy-ears beat us at this game, can we? It' just not cricket. I vote for a minor refresh, if there's the appetite to write one; followed by a major overhaul once 6th arrives.
I'd happily write an article, but I've rarely played in a competitive environment, so my advice would probably not be worth it.

It would be a lot of effort, and I think 6th is probably the best time for that - I was merely asking if it ever had been updated, as I haven't been about much since it was written and put up for download originally.

I was thinking of trying to sneak my converted Basilisk into my army. I already field 3 Leman Russ tanks, so it is not like I lack significant firepower, but there's something about the model I just like. I know that rules-wise the Manticore would be a better bet, particularly with a view to using the artillery as emergency anti-tank.
I am thinking that I might squadron together two of the Leman Russes (so field 1x Russ, 2x Russ, Basilisk). Squadrons have inherent disadvantages, such as firing at one target and damage carrying over, but it should look intimidating to the enemy. With that in mind, do you think that by fielding a Demolisher/Executioner as my other (lone) Russ?
I'm hoping that it would force my opponents to decide between the Basilisk at the back of the board, or the slightly further forward Russ Squadron, or the approaching Demolisher/Executioner (and Infantry advance/screen).
Do you think that this might just be a viable way to get away with limited Squadron use (particularly if I opt for Camo Netting on the Basilisk), or is it going to be handing my opponent easy points?

Two basic Russ for 300 points isn't too bad, so long as one of them is always in cover and they are suitably protected from assault. Definately wouldn't put camouflage on the Basilisk though.
EDIT: Also would never advance the Executioner. It has 36" range for a reason, and it shouldn't be confused with an assault tank.

A formation of three sentinals (some crazy walking device for my admech).
there's no way to make these a sensible choice is there? (bearing in mind i am also fielding a squadron of basilisks, servitor penal legions, a chimera full of Ogryn and a yet to be named babysitter and a russKnight)
Ideas I will one day get around to (finishing)

Keep them cheap, give them multilasers and an autocannon, Outflank them, and hit the enemy's unprotected flank/rear with a hail of S6/7 shots. If you're very lucky they might survive a turn to do it again.![]()
Or just use armored ones with plasmacannons. Effective and very admechy.
+1 for outflanking with autocannons.
Works for me.

I've gotta say, getting a turn two/three outflank with a 3 Sentinel squadron, all of them with Autocannon is quite scary to do to someone. Their transports are almost at your lines/out in the open, their other armour is moving up and worrying about all your nasty stuff up front. And then you drop 6 str7 ap4 shots on something. Watch in amusement as your enemy turns several hundred points of mid to high strength weaponry on your pesky little 120pt Sentinel squadron, and ignores your multiple Leman Russes and Chimerae sitting right in front of him.
I've had many of my opponents make this mistake only to be punished by my 3 Leman Russ and Chimerae who are now unmolested/less shot at than usual.
Even better, take Creed, use free scout move to move a Leman Russ Squadron 6" up. Laugh as enemy shoots at those 3 tanks, and NOTHING ELSE all game simply because they are the closest thing to him. Or outflank said Russ Squadron. Turn 3, enemy is almost in your lines, all appears lost and bayonets are ordered fixed, when over the crest of a hill you see 3 Leman Russ bearing down behind your enemy's army.
Cue epic music and ITS A TRAP! comments. Both valid tactics, and boy do I love actually using tactics to beat my enemies in 40k. So many other armies only have one/three viable tactics and army lists. Guard have choices without number.
