Hi and welcome to another one of spikedog's magnetisation tutorials!
So far in the series: Chimera - Valkyrie - Rhino/Predator
This time we have magnetised Imperial Guard troops. These are pretty easy to do but give some great results and make your army much more fun to play as you can have a different set-up with each unit each time you battle!
First start off by taking the arm of the weapon that you would like to magnetise and drilling a small guide hole in the centre where the magnet will sit. I use a 1mm drill bit for this as it is very easy to cut into the plastic and yet I can position it easily:
Next up I use a larger 5mm drill bit to widen the previous hole to the size of the magnet I am going to use:
Finally a little drop of super glue in the hole and push the magnet in:
Of course now you have to do the same thing to the torsos of your guardsmen (or women in this case). Follow the exact same method as above and you will get something like this:
Make sure you check the polarities of your magnets before gluing them in though!
Now rinse and repeat with more models and various different arms and weapons and as long as you keep the polarities the same in each you will be able to swap the arms around to make different combinations and even different troops altogether!
I have done about 20 or so of these so far that you can soon follow in my log if this interests you.
Any questions or comments please feel free to ask.
