I have seen this before, either the painter uses brush on primer or transparent primer. Pretty rare though.
I also just noticed the hooves and claws, it's actually a Hippogriff, not a Griffon

I especially like how it's labeled as "Nob with Klaw and Big Shoota" only to later have it mentioned that the Shoota is missing.
