Well, the shipping to Belgium was $80 ... that thing is not very heavy, it's in resin ... I'd bet the plinth is heavier than the model

These trophies are awarded to GW staffers who complete ten years of service to the company.

I know it's a collectors edition, but 4 times the retail price after just one month?

Sad, but in the ballpark. This one is the highest one I've seen successfully sell. That was within a few days of release too. Hate to say it, but expect to see prices on this go up for a while.

The saddest thing is that in 4 years the winning bidder will probably do the same thing again, probably putting this one back on ebay to try and raise funds for it, and wonder why they only get £10-20 at most...

Yeah, it will definitely drop in value, but that value will be very dependent on when they sell and who they try to sell to. Take a look at what the 4th & 5th collector's editions are going for in good condition lately. More than 6 months ago they were at an all-time low, but at one point last month they were back up in the $100-150 (US) range. It looks like the frenzy around an edition change is the perfect time to get them out there for the marks... err, I mean enthusiasts looking to have a "complete set."

The one constant I have seen is that anything using the phrase "pro-painted" usually isn't.

Are there genuine professional painters selling items on ebay and elsewhere? You bet. But they are in the constant minority, maybe 1% of the listings. I'm pretty convinced that the folks listing things as "pro-painted" haven't a clue as to what that really means.

And "rare" usually means "Only 35 other sellers have this on BiN for less!", if not "Available at any Games Workshop Store!".

I suppose by definition, if they are making money and declaring it as a source of income from painting miniatures and selling them on they are in the technical sense, quality aside 'professional painters'. But that said I very much doubt any of them are. :P

Well, then they'd qualify to pay taxes on their income from it too... and I doubt even on of them is stepping up to that plate!

I have bought some models that are just wow! And they fit for the title pro painted.

I got inquisitor coteaz painted in detail and his cape were so nicely painted with patterns in good layering that my friends are in envy. Worth the money and will be joining my Dkok army as an ally.

It was a freebie in white dwarf a few years ago. I still have mine in a box somewhere.

Possibly the Gale Force Nine stuff as they lost the licence and things like the dice sets can go for decent money on ebay.

Unless that link is leading me someplace else, I'm not seeing any GF9 stuff on that auction. The tokens included are the standard PP tokens you can get anywhere.

EDIT: It also didn't go for that much...so that must be the wrong link? I'm seeing a token set, a full unit of Karax, a Razor Worm, 3 Ancestral Guardians, and something I can't place.

I'd say that lot should go for $100 or so - might have gone cheap due to the lack of cards for the AGs (and the relatively cruddy picture).
