I'm sure it was sold under the assumption that it's epic!, not epic scale. Note the lack of any scale pics. But I could be wrong.

Ash wastes nomads typically go for a high amount since they never sold well. Like all GW products, people won't buy it until it goes OOP, upon which everyone wants it...

They also broke the mould on the Ash Wasters and never replaced it. Even when the bits service was running you couldn't buy Ash Waste minis from GW outside about an 18 month window between the release and the time they wrecked the mould. Apparently they didn't sell well enough to go to the time and effort of remoulding from the masters.

I dobbed in the Trolltrader to GW for selling me what I'm fairly certain was a recast Bloodbowl cyborc (Seriously, he claims to have more than ten of them, that can't be right, and the metal was very brittle: the base-tab snaped when I applied pressure to it). GW have asked me to send the model in for testing and all of a sudden I find myself thinking "hmmm, I'm going to end up with no cyborc model aren't I?" and it doesn't seem like such a good idea.

I am a terrinle hypocrite and what's wrong with the hobby.

I think you did the right thing, you bought a model in good faith and it seems to have turned out to be a crock of ****. I'm going to think twice now about buying the GD female commissar that he always seems to have a few of.

I seem to remember years ago GW saying in WD that they compensate those in your position.

Best bet? buy another from Trolltrader, send one into GW, worst comes to worst you still have the 2nd one and you'll probably get a nice little reward from GW.

What I don't understand is why they have to have my model. Can't they buy their own to test? They only said they'd give me a letter to help get the money back from paypal, so I don't think the reward for being an informer is very high at all.

I don't think it's unfair for people to expect something beyond a straight refund if they're basically doing GW (Or any other manufacturer for that matter) a favour. If a company doesn't value your effort enough to send at least a small gift voucher as thanks can they really realistically expect you to make the effort in the first place?

People really need an incentive to dob recasters in.

Otherwise, why would anyone snitch for no reward* when they can finish their squat armies for cheap?

*'helping the hobby' is probably little reward for most collectors.

Problem with recaster is that most of them are in Russia or Brazil.
Only advice I can give is that you should not buy anything from Russia or brazil.... especially any unreleased or limited stuff.

I do think you should get at least a gift voucher to say thanks, otherwise as others have said, whats the point.

I do remember seeing a large lot of Ash Nomads going for something like £500.
I'm sure whoever got it is happy, but tbh I don't think the models are nice enough to warrent it.

That German sorcerer on disk however, well worth it.

People will pay well over the odds simply because it's rare.

They didn't bother remaking the Ash Wastes molds because they're awful models.

The German sorcerer is passable, but i sold mine because i prefer the normal one.
