The Badab War(a gaming group project)

The gaming group i play with have started to get ready a campain set in the Badab Wars, we have 3 traiter players and 2/3 loyal players

we well be using the BoLS new Badab booklet, which has new stuff for the armys as well as rules for boarding actions.
So we will be posting our armys here for all you to enjoy, first we will be getting 350 points done for the boarding actions and then the army it self

aslo i'll be posting pics of the map and a few other things im doing for it

so with out going into a rambling rant about how great the new supplement is

here is my Astral Claws tester as well as Huron him self

i tryed a orange armour colour but to be honest they he looked to Tony the tiger for my taste, so i went with a more brown/yellow, using dessert yellow, still not sure on the strips, aslo im working on a new tester for black armour with orange strips, more like the rogue trader pics.

here is Huron him self, he has a axe and power fist as the rules say, he will get painted once i sort out which colour to use

Re: The Badab War(a gaming group project)

Ok spent the morning working on a new tester for the Astral Claws, found out orange can be a pain to paint lol

    so here it is

hope you like, still things like the pipes and vents on the armour to be done but i can do that once i start the first squad

added a pic of the two testers next to each other, might be easy to look at them then

    all C&C welcome

Hey, I'm really liking both testers there, they both look really good, though I'm more inclined to like the first one. The idea of doing the badad campaign in your gaming club is reall cool, I hope it goes well. The badad booklet itself led me to starting a star phantoms army.
    Keep up the good work,

Re: The Badab War(a gaming group project)

i do like the first tester, but i dont like the strips, and to be honest not sure how to do them on that colour, there is a nice camo patter for the howling griffions, which is close to that tester but has clusters of brown spots,

after all it the Badab War, which was a war that the marines use camo the most

    but thanks

I'm jealous that you are able to embark on a Badab War project. As for your testers, I probably second the first one. I like the stripes on the second but not the black so much, whereas the first one is more plain but much more 'complete' IMO?

Awesome! I'm thrilled to see the ripple effects that this campaign book is creating around the world. Good luck to you and the group, and keep us posted. FWIW, I prefer the orange color. The other looks a little too much like Lamenters yellow with tiger stripes.
11,400 pts of Nids, and I'm supposed to deploy where? Pics here.

They're Grrrrrrrrreat (sorry, Tony the Tiger pun)
They look really good though, very different from the normal plain colour schemes!
I can only imagine how annoying orange is to paint, but it does look very nice in contrast to the black.

yeah, the black is a little much, but remember the pipes on the chest as well as the air vents havent been painted, so that would break it up alot, i am thinking of doing the head orange with the strips as well to break the black up just as much

i like dessert yellow as a colour just never found a reason to us it , as for the strips not sure on it, they were my first try which sort of got better on the second, the only reason i didnt go dull orange was id like to have tanks, and a lot of tanks that are bright orange with tiger strips would drive any sane man to do silly things.

i new some one would say that lol you had to be the first hehe
yeah i love how the BoLS book as so many diffrent schemes in it for the chapters, i just wish GW would under stand that just cause marines are elite super soldiers doesnt mean that they wouldnt us camo, but thats like hard work for them to do prob one reason they dropped it in 2nd, oh

going to have to have a good think as to what way to paint these, as i have my 350 points built and sprayed ready to go, arrr cant make up my mind lol

Oh! Mantis Warriors! They're looking good! Always considered painting up a force of them so I'm enjoying your efforts.

Hmm, it may be worth a try just to see what it's like, but I still think the overall desert yellow camo is a better armour colour, if a little more bland. It also fits more with trh traditional Astral Claws scheme.

Re: The Badab War(a gaming group project)

well after a long hard slog of paiinting tester after tester i have now come up with scheme

in the badab supplement, there is a pic of the astral claws armour painted like this.. so ive started my first unite, i have to say there very easy and quick to do and nice on the eye

i know some will say that thay didnt paint there armour like this untill the end of the war, which is try but it looks good, also i have 60 chaos marines that i could use but will not as id rather paint them up as word bearers or night lords

a loyalist looking army painted as red corsairs can be used as C:SM or as C:CSM

pics will come some time to day, i should be finished the whole unit very soon, well once the wash drys *shacks fist*

Go with desert yellow bud. Easier on the eyes and doesn't make you want to say 'They're Grrrreat!'.

Got some more stuff coming this week and now I can print off some decals for my Mantis Warriors.

I have asked a small fat hairy ex-manager down on Thursday - he has a painted marine army that could well be useful in the campaign.
