Ok, so I've been working on these guys for a while now, it's a platoon based army instead of a "stormtrooper" or now "veteran grenadier" army as my DKoK was.
So anyway, here is the 9th Haalvak Legion, a mechanized Infantry regiment from Haalvak. Their homeworld has, over the past several hundred years, greatly industrialized itself. Formerly they used to supply the Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy in the days before the Age of Apostasy with elite shock drop troops for securing planetary landing zones and ship to ship boarding operations as much of the population lived in space and was constantly fighting Eldar pirates and Ork marauders. The men & women of Haalvak have much experience fighting the Eldar that goes back to the days before the Great Crusade. During the Age of Apostasy most of the Haalvak regiments were gathered by Lord Admiral Harkoth for a crusade against the alien Saffri in the eastern fringe. This endeavor eventually led to the Saffri's extermination despite aid from the Eldar, but upon the crusade's return to Imperial space the Eldar had devised a scheme to destroy the fleet as they believed it would one day be used against the craftworld Kail-Lal. As such, both Vandire's and the loyalist commands turned on Harkoth's fleet, which fled into deep space, and after several monumental engagements and Kail-Lal's farseers seeing events out of order, did indeed result in the destruction of the craftworld by the marauding renegade fleet and the boarding actions of the massed Haalvak infantry. Later these forces would eventually be forced further into hiding and eventually turn to the powers of Chaos for survival and are now known as Harkoth's Reavers, hunted by both Imperial forces and the vengeful Eldar as they join the traitor Legions in the Long War to repay their former comrades for their betrayal. (Harkoth's Reavers will be a future Valkyrie and Infantry heavy IG army and are the focus of my BFG Chaos fleet, while Kail-Lal is the focus of my still unpainted Eldar army)
As a result, Haalvak troops were only employed generally in the local area of Haalvak as their loyalty was henceforth suspect until the middle of the 41st millenium. As Haalvak proper became more and more industrialized and the population moved from the space station to the planet, Haalvaks troops gained a greater industrial base and are now almost all mechanized regiments. With this, they have also seen greater assignments to more numerous and distant warzones, although they still generally operate to support the Imperial Navy and secure dropzones or destroy anti-orbital defenses. While Haalvak still does field drop troops, most regiments are instead mechanized armor regiments with significant Imperial Navy support assets.
Anyway, enough background, here's the Company Commander with the Platoon commanders and a random lasgun guy, with one of Mort's "Mortian Battle tanks"
Vendettas! I've got two painted so far and one still waiting to dry after priming.
