    Witch Hunters Army

    Hi!

Im venturing into warhammer 40k after a long time in fantasy. (ive put the skaven sculpting project on ice for the moment but some progress has been made)
I will play a Witch Hunters force with an Inquisitor Lord at the head of the army cuz i love the inquisition in warhammer 40.000 and i was super inspired by a blog by a dude called Migsula over at dakkadakka.com. I was choosing between Witch Hunters and Orks cuz theres alot of conversion opportunities in both armies. But i ruled against Orks cuz there are fewer Ordo Hereticus players out there that i know of.

    Theme:
I will play a radical force with the motto "purge fire with fire". The Inquisitor is radical because he employs almost everyone who is willing to fight for the emperor or for the inquisitor himself! So he has a few mutants he has gathered over the years of purging and hunting.

Heres what ive done so far: A retinue for the Radical Witch Hunter Mordeci (c is pronounced as k).This is what ive managed to scrape togther with the bits in my bits box, I dont have the Inquisitor yet but i will pick him up tomorrow.

The Retinue is still Work In Progress!

    Retinue

Heres the first Chirugeon, he is based on a mini from the Battle for Macragge box. the gun is made from a bolt pistol and some spear bits and a tiny piece of steel wire for the needle edge.

This Acolyte is based on the Mordheim Necromancer with some Empire Knight Middenheimers great hammer and the base of the staff is a lance from the regular knight sprue. the top, head and the collar is from the Empire Wizard Kit.

The familiars head is from the old skeleton sprue while the bionic eye is from a laser sight that came in the Imperial Guard heavy weapons team. i made the power cables from florist wire.

This sage/acolyte is composed of an old Chaos sorceror body and the head is from the Mordheim Necromancer and the hood is green stuff.

This Crusader is a robot of some sort that my Inquisitor found in an ancient shrine or something. its made of chaos space marine parts and empire knight arms. the shield is made from a chaos vehicle thingy, while the sword is made from plasticard. Again, the powercable is made from Florist wire.

    Continue in next post.

    Re: Witch Hunters Army

This is the second Crusader in the retinue, hes composed of Empire Knight Parts and an inquisitor that ive cut in half (gasp! blasphemy!) the supression shield is a Tomb Kings shield that ive flipped upside down and filed away the detail, and made new detail with plasticard. the hand is from a Chaos Space marine.

This will be my penitent. its far from done cuz i will exchange his torso for one of the new Ghoul Torso's to make him look less like a Tyranid and more like a Mutant. i will keep the arms and legs though.

heres my last Chirugeon, its based on an old metal Ghoul model that ive chopped off the arms of. The legs is Zombie legs and the apron is made from green stuff.

Heres the colorsheme for my Sisters and army in general, Black/dark metal, Bronze and a little Red. (I used an Army Painter function over at Bolterandchainsword.com http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/i...s&do=show&id=1 )

    hope you like it.

Everything's looking awesome so far. Inquisitors and their retinues are one of my favourite parts of the hobby, because there are so few models for them, and almost everyone shows how creative they can be. Yours is certainly no exception!

I particularly enjoy that Crusader robot. Very cool idea and very cool execution.

I have to agree on Crusader robot part.. very cool and unique. Close behind it is the Ghoul Chirugeon, so far he looks like a Zombie butcher, XD

    Re: Witch Hunters Army

@Weaver:thank you very much and i totaly agree with you about the inquisitor part! They are so charactful and inspirational its pretty easy to come up with stuff for them. =)

@Zaku41k: Thanx alot! im quite pleased with how the robot crusader came out actually. And the ghoul chirugeun is also one of my personal faves right now.

Heres the order i picked up today! none of it is Witch Hunter stuff except the one sister of battle! i will ofcourse use it all for the inquisition except the daemonettes wich i will probably make into an esher gang for Necromunda!
The ork Battlewagon will be De-Orky-fied and be my Inquisitors personal ride. it was bigger than i expected so perhaps i should use it as a chimera instead of a rhino, wich was the plan from the beginning.
The ghouls will be mixed with imperial guard and brettonia models to make some sinister Allied Imperial Guards and Zealots.
Also you can see ive bought the winged vampire lord. i will make him my inquisitor, i have already begun filing and sawing the mini so he is well underway of becoming Inquisitor Mordeci.

I totaly redid the Penitent, though im not very happy with this one, the pose is kinda strange, i thought the ghouls wouldve been bigger. perhaps i could try a ghast body on the genestealer legs instead and use some Green Stuff.

Heres some progress on the Chirugeon/torturer henchman. i used some of the new ghoul plastic arms and a kroot gun that i cut of the muzzle on, and gave it a crosshair made from plasticard. the gun butt is made from plasticard and Green stuff. i also gave him some more two more fingers to make him look a little more like a human. though he has an extra finger on his right hand but thats not visible from the front, but bah, what the heck! its probably his only mutation anyways. the thing on the base is from an old broken watch.

My plan is that every single mini in the army will have some sort of ruin/rubble on the base cuz it makes the whole model look even better in my opinion!

Nice ideas and model, I will keep an eye on this thread. Mostly looking for ideas to steal :P (See mi signature and you will understand).

The new gouls and the empire plastic range have been a favour to the witch hunter players (and of course, all the Imperial player who look for that gothic and old-look style in theirs models)

@gonfrask: thanx alot! ive seen your log before and i must say i admire your painting skills!

heres some early wips of my Inquisitor. i will greenstuff some things to his face and make a link cable between his shouldermounted gun and head and some more stuff as well.

And here's his personal ride. im not sure if im keeping the gunholes or if im gonna fill them up. what do you think? its still early wip. i will add some more plasticard and fill the gaps with green stuff.

and on a little sidenote, heres two early wip shots of my gothic Esher gang for Necromunda:

The gang leader's name will be Lolita, thats all ive decided yet. i will probably name them all. :P

    Re: Witch Hunters Army

those Escher gangers are brilliant! I love all the wonderful conversions that have come out of the daemonette plastics, but these are probably my favourite so far. I may have to steal

the de-orkifying vehicles is pretty sweet too. a few gothic arches here and flying buttresses there and it'll be a ride fit for any inquisitor.

Keep it up! Can't wait to see more

Love the idea of using Daemonettes as escher gangers.
Nice idea to use a battlewagon as an Inq's vehicle. It may benefit from some brass etchings from FW though.

Keep up the work my man

Cool models so far, but what I'm wondering is will we be seeing more of those Escher gangers?

great work, cool the escher conversions are really cool starts I like the tutoo style dress, your mutants are very impressive. I like the increase of mutie converions these days, the ghouls seem to be playing a huge part in that area. Nice to see your a fan of migs' inquisitor, I really want to make on my self.

These are brilliant, especially the Escher. The wagon is also a great idea.

    Re: Witch Hunters Army

@Weaver:Thanx alot and steal away! i will probably add some iconography or try some freehand work on it as well (scaary!)

    @Maharajah: Thanks alot!

@gonzosbignose: haha! that desperate are we? trying to date Hive Scum! =P

@daemonkin: Brass Etching from FW? it sure would if i had the money to spare. i guess i will have to do with plasticard and cardboard. =)

@Astraeos: yes you will see more escher gangers! perhaps i should rename the topic to Witch Hunters army/Necromunda Gang ?

@tcraigen: thanx alot man, and yeah the Ghouls are great for conversions and turning into mutants for 40k.about Migsulas Inquisitor: i seriously sat for two hours straight and just looked like this: when i watched his =][=munda log. i just had to have one for myself!
I really didnt like the model beforehand but when i saw what he did to it i was just awestruck.

    @Zaku41k: Hehe, thanx i suppose. =P

@Mabus:Thank you for those kind words.

now im done fixing all the gaps on it. next stage will probably be to add inquisitorial symbols and maybe one or two Purity Seals.

Ive also worked some more on my escher gangers as well. i have begun on a new one and worked some on the others as well. Perhaps i should begin a separate Log for the Eshers?

The mini skirts and boots on those Escher girls are so cool! I can't wait to see them painted!
I overlooked Mordeci (by accident) but I have to say nice work so far! especially on removing that bat wing arm.

    Re: Witch Hunters Army

    @Astraeos: thanx alot!
With a Jewler Saw anything is possible! it was pretty easy to remove the wing arm with one of those.

Done lots more work on my Eschers! from Left to right: Leader, Ganger/Juve, and heavy. the Leaders sword is made from a dark elf spear, the autopistol is a shaved down boltpistol and the clip is plasticard, the trenchcoat is made from two skaven Night Runner cloaks. the gangers Autopistol is made the same way as the leader's, though her right arm is one of the old daemonette arms. The heavy's hat is from a 30mm german officer from some miniature that is at least ten years old, i dont know anything more than that. the gun is from the Ork battlewagon and the hands are chaos space marine hands. i will sculpt them into heavy gloves to make it look less goofy. but i think she turned out pretty badass.

Like your ideas a lot. Whats the plan for the "Chimera" ? Are you doing a front Bumper or refiting the one from the Kit ?

    Re: Witch Hunters Army

I love these, the coat conversion looks great, The heavies arms look wonderful I love the feel of them being bulked up bionics to manage the weight. They all look very good, only suggestion I have is maybe shortening the neck on the heavy and giveing her a little bit or a lean or hunch to the model to fit with the model's forward lean it already has, it just feels to up right to me(when seeing it from the side).
