Need help with Imperial Fist Painting

I just started back into 40k after a long break and decided to do an Imperial Fist army since I had always wanted one. Unfortunately I've already gone through a whole squad trying to get them to look right. With no luck. I was hoping some kind soul (maybe even another Imperial Fist player) could lend a hand and some pointers.

    Help!

    and thanks in advance!

I don't play Imperial Fists, but I have painted a few.

Iæm guessing it's the yellow colour you have problems with? I it is, try this: Spray the model white. Then paint it with yellow ink. Then brybrush it with golden yellow. Then highlight with bad moon yellow.

That should give you a nice, even yellow colour.

(and if it isn't the yellow you where having problems with, what is it? )

Edit: Oh, and welcome to portent, by the way

@Marsekay: Thems some fantastic looking IF termies you got there!

@Lord of Skulls: If you want a rough and ready paintjob, spray your troopers white, give two coats of watered downGolden Yellow, a wash of Chestnuk Ink, a standard coat of Golden Yellow, and a standard coat of Sunburst yellow. Sounds like a lot, but it actually isn't (well, not for me anyway). I don't have any pics as I sold all my IF's ages ago. Jus make sure you do the bolter casings red and the trim on the shoulder pads black and not red!!!

Re: Need help with Imperial Fist Painting

Well i go about things a dofferent way to most people.

    Prime white.

2 coats watered down golden yellow. maybe 3. (with a tank brush, takes like 5 seconds haha)

Paint anything not yellow black. then drybrush any metals.

"black" line everything even around black areas, like the crux on a termie or the chest eagle on a marine in Orange ink (which isnt sold anymore, so i suggest mixing it or watering down an orange)

Paint the chest eagles and trim however you like, i use red.

Then to highlight the yellow add a little skull white and a lot of water and layer in 3 or 4 steps. each adding more skull white. i finish with a very close white.(watering down the highlight layers lots helps them to bland better. and you can cheat by making 4 layers look like 8 by overlapping just the edges of each layer if you get me.

Simple simple. None of this " i undercoat black then spend a week painting 50 layers of brown (which i think looks dirty) to yellow. then chesnut wash (yuk more brown)

The orange ink makes them look golden yellow. and in my opinion much better.

    Any questions then shout.
