Absolutely amazing log. Reminds me why I should spend more time browsing the various project log subforums. The whole project just oozes more and more character with every new and unique section you add. Very nice work.

Hi guys, thanks for the continued interest!

I'm afraid that I am somewhat skint at the moment, which means I've not had much money to buy new bits to finish new sections, hence the delay!

I have some pics of the board in use at my local GW that I will hunt out and add, as well as some of the detail work on the interior done on some sections.

whats great about it is that you can make one room or corridor at a time, and finish it completely, before you get materials to make another! so there is progression and time to save up while working!, im in love with this project ..and skint as well! so no corridor castle/ship for me just yet

Edit: any thoughts on what rooms you might add in the future?

Did you ever figure out the toilet deal? If you've seen the movie The Rock, they have an excellent scene where the Seals come up in the prison bathroom. I don't think that on a ship that they would have gravity fed fixtures, but who knows. I imagine a bank of sinks in the middle, troughs along one wall, squatters like in the old Eastern Bloc rest areas along another. It would be an open playing area with the bank of sinks acting as cover.

But that was several pages back. Maybe that idea has been dropped.

    Great looking stuff thus far.
Only thing I see that (to me) needs altering is the dead marine.
For one he looks far too shiny and his right hand is currently gripping just a bolter handle, complete with the trigger guard, swapping his hand out and weathering him shouldn't really be that much work

Please can you tell me where you got the piping & valves from?

Which bits you looking for and where in the UK are you? I might donate you some bits. Worth it to see this latest room completed.

Bumped into this thread quite accidentally but I have to say Nedius without any amount of hyperbole, you are an inspiration.
I've spent a little bit of time flicking through your site as a friend of mine found it and is using it as a reference for his own set of 3D Space-Hulk tiles.
Pictures of these constructions do them little justice as the handful he's made so far (or at least had done when I last visited him a wee bit before Christmas), fair blew my socks off.

A suggestion for quickly making books could be - do you need to make every book completely?

I was thinking if you could cut round plastic tube in half and glue them side to side it would appear like a row of books? You could then just maybe add some small strips at various places to make them appear bound differently? Just a suggestion.

    Nedius...

Stumbled across this thread recently and I just have to throw some major kudos your way. It's rare to come across a modelling blog or thread that consistantly inspires, but this is one such thread. The project is clearly a labour of love for you, and the subtle level of detail is commendable.
It reminds me of a modern take on what good old Heroquest tried to do, with the library in particular harking back to the 'furnished dungeon' idea, and although this makes it an awesome setting for 40k games, it's clearly a Space Hulk player's dream...and as many others have suggested, would even make a beautiful setting for a 28mm scale inquisitor or ffg role-play game...

Congratulations on the recent nuptials, and while I and many others eagerly await the next installment don't feel pressured - model as the notion takes you, as I'd hate to see this project burn out before you have every Space Hulk tile represented!

Finally a massive thank you for taking the time and effort to share this with your fellow modellers...like I said, it's been an inspiration, and as such I hope to undertake a similar project soon - but your explanations and guides on what has (or hasn't!) worked for you are greatly appreciated. Please keep the 'how to' and step-by-step pics coming, if even just on your own blog...for instance - how the heck did you manage to build those wonderfully gothic shelves? What thickness plasticard was involved? And what was used to make the shrunken pistol's 'plinth'?

    Good luck!

Thanks guys - I know this has been quiet for many months, but I have set aside a few days end of next week to dedicate just to the board - some painting, some building. I promise to provide photos afterwards!

Re: Nedius' 3D Space Hulk / Anphelion Base

Well, I have finally got round to doing more work on the set!

However, I was far too efficient and tidied up after myself a bit too thoroughly...

I had made seven 'new' tiles for the set - small one square sections to represent entry points, using the circular hole floor tiles from the shrine of the aquilla set. But I then tidied them all away, so you'll have to wait for pics of those.

All is not lost; I did leave one section out - the off-set four way junction room.

Not, in itself, that intresting... What is a bit more interesting are the two servitor stations that will be located in it! Here's the nearly completed first one.

If you'd like to have a go yourself, here are the bits for the second awaiting construction:

More images can be seen here:

Thanks for all the recent interest that got me back into it. Will get entry point pics when I can.
