    =I= Scale Ultramarine WIP

I'm going just south of the 59'th paralell on Monday (that's pretty far north), so I figured I'd share some of my bigger projects I've got on the go.

I've developed a bizzare fetish for the large-scale models recently. I just finished a Death Co. marine a while back http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20895 and I also won a 120mm Marine off e-bay a few days ago.

This is an =I= scale Ultramarine built from Brother Artemis from the =I= range. I repositioned the leg and GS'd it. I have to do the arms and head yet, but I'll have to wait a few weeks before I can do that. His helmet won't be in for a while anyway. I can't stand the idea of marines not wearing their helmets. I plan on making him very "Space Mariney" He's going to be blazing away at the hip, while vaulting some barricades, and a sword in the other hand. What do you think? Anything I can improve?

Also: I need some help fixing the arms to the body. The arms fit in such a way that pinning is nigh on impossible. Is there some kind of trick to glue them on using other methods? I kind of recall using a blob of GS, but I can't remember the process.

    Looks interesting.

But why cant you pin the arms? So long as neither part is too small (and they arent at all) you can drill into them and it doesnt matter if therer is any suitable surface for glueing - you can just plug and gaps with a bit of green stuff.

My Marine Project now finally with 1750pts completed... and I'm going to put this force to bed for the time being.
My next project Khornate Gorewing - a converted all terminator Khornate warband!
Other things I have messed about with a little are Adeptus Mechanicus and a foray in to WFB with Night Goblins that are a lot harder than you'd think for an obsessive compulsive converter!
    Lastly, my Photobucket Gallery

the way i nornally glue when i can't pin (normally just unavailable) is to use a bit of GS on both parts, not enough to cover the whole join though. then, put super glue on one of the joins (in this case an arm) and press and hold

the glue holds it until the GS dries, and is actually quite solid (i've had raveners fall of a table with no damage)

    hope it helps

Looking good so far, the legs seem a bit slim, but that's a problem with the base model, not your stuff.

The gluing technique works well because GS stick to GS better than anything, and glue next (wet then dry) before metal, so gluing to metal is better than GSing to metal, and GSing to glue is better than GSing to metal, therefore the technique works.

I tried them all out on some spare arms, that method worked best, but I would it helped only a little bit on particularly small areas.

Okay, just to get this straight, it works like this:

    ARM:Superglue:Greenstuff:Greenstuff:Superglue:TORS O

Stick the whole mass together, and allow GS to dry.

    Am I correct?

You could be. Personally I put a small "ring" of GS on one of the parts and fill the little "pool" in the middle with a drop of superglue, which seems to work well enough.

basically, the green stuff [i]can not[i] cover the whole join

yodhrin's suggestion is most likely the easiest way of typing it

but going your way i might suggest:

    arm:GS:superglue:GS:torso

though, it might not be the best way

Looks good mate, though correct me if I am wrong, the upside down omega is on the wrong arm, it should be on his left army, not right.

I use what the locals call "The Mikey Method" It's pretty simple, and suprisingly effective. "Add LOTS of superglue"

I was a non-believer at first, but it's amazing how durable you can make things with it.

but then you sometimes lose detail from super-glue overload

trust me, when it goes wrong, it ain't pretty

You have to be sensible about it.
