O&G has too many models - I'm switching to TOMB KINGS

    Hey all,

Well, as the name implies, I started painting an O&G army and quickly got tired of painting green and staring at all the primered models before me. As a result I elected to switch to something a little less daunting; TOMB KINGS!

I have included some pictures of my O&G up to where I threw in the towel. As this was my first attempt at painting I have included some of my early models for the heck of it.

Painting takes me forever and I lose motivation quick...I am hoping this plog will give me that final push to get this army done so I can move on to the next one.

I don't have the obligatory workstation picture yet, but I will try to get one and post it soon.

Please feel free to provide feedback; I look forward to any comments, suggestions, ridicule, etc...

    Enjoy

One of my first Orc Boys

    Pump Wagon Casualties up Close...

Well, other than a few NG which I still have yet to take pictures of, thisis right about the time I got seriously burnt out on painting green. I assembled around 100 night goblins and after painting 30 or so I realized this wasn't going to happen. I decided it was time for a change...little did I know 100 or so skeletons wouldn't be much better....

So, as the title implies I made a switch to tomb kings. Here are some WIP of larger models. I tried some alternate color schemes white/green, purple/black, but ultimately I just can't seem to kick how much I like the typical GW red/turquoise colors. As a result I decided to rip off the GW template.

20 Bowmen WIP - After rading some tactica I will likely change this to two units of 10 ea

Those orcs sure look awesome though, especially that pump wagon. I hope you just put them aside for a while, and not sold them. That would be a shame.

Thanks! I thought about trying to sell the pump wagon, but now that they are 2 for 1 I think I will hang on to it. Someday I will go back to O&G but its not going to be until I learn some good speed painting techniques or decide to not to be so OCD over the paint job haha!

    More tomb kings....

One of my first skeletons. I like using micro point pens for lining in, but when I tried it under the cheek bones here the point on thepen is still not fine enough...hence, the racoon-like face. I plan on touching this up when I add some highlights.

For my TK I used a white undercoat followed by a wash of gryphonne(sp) sepia..in hindsight I should have used devlan mud instead, but its a little too late now...

20 Warriors WIP - Need highlights and some detail work, but coming along.

Alternate angle - I really like the nice lining in achieved on the shields using the micro point ink pen. Maybe a little too much for some, but I like it.

    And a little closer

Here is my other unit of 20 warriors. I don't plan on using any tomb guard in this army so core skeletons ftw!

More progress on the tomb scorpions

I was trying to do some sort of greenish tint on the carapace to represent poison, but I don't like how it turned out. I plan on just drybrushing over this with bleached bone to give it a dusty look.

Scorpion one "complete" until I find something I don't like...

Found an O&G that got missed.

Okay sorry for the distraction, back to TK. A little more progress on the bowmen. Sorry for the bad pictures.

Ah, glad to see your PLOG attempt did work. And good thing too, because there's really something to see here! I paint slow, too, but it appears we are rewarded with a stunning-looking army in turn.

It's a shame you stopped your O&G, because they look awezum! Definitely keep them. When you need a bit of a diversion after some time with your all-Skeleton army (Booooooooring! That's my main gripe with TK. I'm fed up with bones right now, and hey, I paint VC), your Orcs may be a good idea. If you don't want so many models, do a small 1000 pts elite force with lotsa Black Orcs and other expensive stuff.

The TK are also great however, I like your bases, espeyially the Tomb Scorpion. It looks really menacing. It encourages me to take my time with my army and invest into some awesome base composition.

Things like these always make me want to post pics of my own stuff, but with my cheap camera, the closeups are blurry as hell...
