I had a nice chat with Paul Sawyer at Gamesday UK. He was on good form and excited about future developments at Warlord Games.
I have no idea about Jake Thornton either.
Founding father of J.A.D.E.D. Jerks Against Directors Extraordinary Decisions.
My Project Log "This week I have mostly been painting ...."
My other log of Vintage stuff: "A Blast from the Past"
Also check out ''The Tale of Fantasy Painters" in the Warseer Painting Support Group forums.
Jake Is selling stuff on ebay

Have been using google, and searching the threads here, and coming up with nothing in regards to when and why he left.
Always liked Jake, especially his have fun, O+G tactics section he did in the old O+G army book.
His work with WD was great as well, I sort of feel WD is lacking in personality at the moment.
Just checked out Paul Sawyers Warlord Games website, as I'm looking for a WW2 ruleset, Rules of Engagement could be it.

wel jake left because he was working in the Short Order Studio trying to do some small games eg Trolls in the pantry type stuff. When GW moved away from that without launching anything he also went
I thought Jake worked on the first attempt at a MMORPG for Warhammer and moved over to Climax to be able to do this
On a similar note, whatever happened to Ian Pickstock?
I think Ian is still there as he got some mentions in WD when they redid the Guard Codex
Jake Thornton is aparently freelancing designing board games. Ian went off to Elixir Studios a computer game producer. After Elixir went bust he turned to organizing Techno parties in Nottingham under the label "Pure Filth". PF seems to have stopped doing anything, so I don´t know where he´s off to now - he might be back, who knows.

I thought Jake Thornton left to develop the Starship Troopers game. I could be wrong though.
Andy Chambers developed the Starship Troopers game.

Was hardly a loss for GW losing Jake he kind of had huge idea's for GW long before he got a place at GW HQ. He's one person i was glad to see the back of when he left my local store. Then i found out he'd move to HQ and i like a number of others all cringed and said it would end badly. He does mostly private work and i sometimes spot him out and about looking rather well so he must be doing ok.
Paul Sawyer was out and about at GD this year and i do believe that the GD UK thread even has him pictured in it.
This makes me want to buy more Warlord minatures now.
Sold off my last 40k army in order to buy an empty case to put the extra Privateer Press models I'm going to buy in.
I hope I'm part of a trend. I hope they learn.
Sadly, Jake left a long time ago and worked elsewhere in the gaming industry after being taken off WD to work on the short order stuff.
He returned to work for Fanatic after Steve Hambrook passed away.
And then he was made redundant when Fanatic got kicked into touch, effectivly he was made redundant twice.
Shame as he's a nice guy who worked hard for them, just in departments the shareholders appreciated less than the gamers.
Ian Pickstock is still there doing stuff that needs doing in admin.
You'll see his name most frequently in the photographic credits as he's an accomplished photographer (with a deep, booming, manly voice).
Weren't they all eaten by Tyranids?
Trust and fear not.
Has he left now?
Good for him. Anyone with any sense should.
