    Punkfish's Blood Angels and Guard

    Hello all,

after much bullying by Meganutz, I've decided to start a plog detailing my efforts at expanding my Blood Angels 5th Company.

I've been collecting this army since '92 and although there are some original figures still there, I've continually been upgrading my army.

I generally paint to tabletop standard but will sometimes experiment with the more elite units in my army.

    Fluff
This is the background for the army up to and including the Medusa IV campaign a couple of years back. Since this was written, I've added new units and squads but the core of the army is still there.

    HQ
    Captain Adeon

    Epistolary Furion

    Chaplain Ionius

    Sanguinary Priest Bellephron

    5th Company Squads

Tactical Squad Cleon (Company Honour Guard)
    Tactical Squad Palemon
    Tactical Squad Tranio
    Tactical Squad Braccio
    Tactical Squad Cloten
    Tactical Squad Lysander
    Assault Squad Menelius
    Assault Squad Micah
    Devastator Squad Corbo
    Devastator Squad Erastus

    Attached elements

    Terminator Assault Squad Lucion
    Terminator Squad Bellion
    Veteran Squad Enosh

    Scout Squad Proteus
    Sniper Scout Squad Rafen

    Dreadnought Tranio
    Dreadnought Gideon
    Dreadnought Alactus (Furioso Variant)

    Armoury
    Three Techmarines - 9 Servitors
    Whirlwind - Sanguine Vengeance
    Vindicator - Wrath of Sanguinus
    Baal Predator - Sanguine Fury
    Predator Destructor - Tycho's Revenge
    Predator Annihilator - Sanguine Lance
    Landraider - Deliverance

Whirlwind Suppression Force - Baal's Fury
Vindicator Linebreaker Squadron - Hammer of Blood

    Background
The Blood Angels 5th Company has recently finished a period of resupply and replenishment after participating in fierce fighting in the Sabbat Worlds Cluster. Brother Captain Adeon has only recently been elevated to his position after his predecessor was slain by an Iron Warriors Warsmith during the Company's defence of a strategically vital Hive.

The 5th Company has received reports that the same Warsmith has been sighted around the Medusa Sector. On hearing this news, Captain Adeon has mustered his company and set course for Medusa.

Anyhow, without further ado, here's my army in it's glory (pic taken in Jan 09),

    Some assault terminators

    Some normal Terminators

    Here's my WIP of Dante

    And some finished pics

Any comments very welcome, thanks for your time

Well I could say it's about time, but after seeing Dante I'll add that it's been well worth the wait... that's a very nice rendition and quite an imposing army!

That Dante looks amazing - kudo's to you. As a fellow BA player I can't wait to start on my model, but I am dreading the gold armour a bit too.

I love the non-metallic take on Dante's armour, looks very good.

    Re: Punkfish's BA 5th Company

    Thanks for the input guys,

@superdupermatt - the armour wasn't that hard to do in the end. Base coat of vomit brown, then followed by washes of Ogryn flesh, Devlan mud and Badab black in the recesses. I then highlighted with various mixes of vomit brown and skull white before using pure skull white as a final highlight. Then to blend it all together, use a gryphonne sepia wash. My only gripe is that I didn't graduate the highlighting enough but i'll know better for last time.

@ElTanko, I notice you're from Bristol, which GW store do you go to there?

While I'm at it, here are some other pics of my WIP Furioso Dread

Your Dante looks great, reminds me of the paintjob from the 2nd edition Codex: Angels of Death.

    Re: Punkfish's BA 5th Company

@Eltanko - I rarely get to game too. Broadmead is my local GW although I've not been there on games night.

I'm thinking that with the Furioso, I might try adding painted battle damage to it. I'll let you know how it all goes

    Re: Punkfish's BA 5th Company

Hi guys, here's some more pics of the Furioso. I'll be adding the battle damage next week as I've got four days off to really hit the painting.

A pic of the Furioso and two of his friends....

Here's some pictures of my recently finished Devastator Squad too. This squad rounded my army up to a full battle companies worth.

Any comments welcome. Thanks for looking guys

The Devastators look great, the blue helmets are really well done. The black arm of the sergeant is something I have not seen before, is there a story behind that?

    Re: Punkfish's BA 5th Company

@Eltanko - it's a bit of homemade background inspired by the GW Terminator schemes a few years ago, those with the black left arm/gauntlet. I see it as marking out my veterans and it's a reminder that anyone can fall to the black rage and that they as veterans run the greatest risk of falling.

It also looks good from a scheme point of view as they are more recognisable on the tabletop/battlefield.

@Nagash66 -here's a close up of the Devastator Sergeant, I'll get some more close-ups when I'm back in Bristol.

    Thanks guys

Ok, here's the Furioso with some battle damaged added. I'm going to add the Chapter and company markings tomorrow when the light is better.

The red has been washed out slightly by my camera flash but hopefully you get the idea

Looks really good pal. Love the damage...gives it a real sense of heavy usage, befitting a company relic!!

    Re: Punkfish's BA 5th Company

    Thanks for the comments guys.

After a weekend disrupted by lots of MW2 action, I've managed to sit down and paint a few bits and pieces.

Here's my Whirlwind. I've mostly finished the weathering although I've ordered some FW weathering thingys to try out.

    As always, any comments welcomed.

As for my next project, well, I'm torn between painting up a Vanguard Vet squad, the four Masters of the Chapter or a Land Raider Crusader. What would people like to see?
