    (Another) Space Hulk Log

Well, here we go. You may remember me from such logs as my Death Korps one - see avatar - and... well that's it really. And even that one didn't get finished (although will make a comeback at some point).

Being a Marine and Tyranid player I snapped up the Space Hulk box as soon as possible, and after letting the constructed models sit on my desk for a month, I started painting.

Unlike most of the other SH logs I've seen here (some very nice ones too!), my Marines are not being Blood Angels. I have a small Celestial Lions army with the idea of doing the entire Chapter (and those who know their background will see why that's no tall order), so decided to add these to the final force. The Stealers are being lovely and making a 1000 point 40k army up to a 1500 point army.

Without further ado, I have some pictures! I have finished half of the Genestealers and five of the Terminators. The Terminators have been converted to make them useable in 40k too, so I now have an Assault squad and a normal squad. Makes games of SH a little more tense too!

    Genestealer group shot 1:

    Terminator Assault squad:

I have some more individual shots that just need sorting out and I'll post them up soon, along with some WiP and the obligatory desk shot. Hope you enjoy, and C&C is very much welcome!

    cheers!

    Cheers Tagsta!
The chipped paint on the Marines was just Mithril Silver carefully painted on at the end. The decals were given a coat of the scratches in blue first so it looks like it's scratching through two coats of paint. They should really have some shading and highlighting, but I think they look fine as they are.

The Stealers are really easy actually! I made my Nid army when the new Citadel washes came out, so it was really an experiment in using them. The main flesh colour is Dwarf Flesh, Dwarf/Elf Flesh, then Elf Flesh. All with a light Leviathan Purple wash afterwards.

Lew good to see you're alive! Have we scared you off of the Throne? Anyways, those Termies are looking GREAT! I really like the scheme and the weather, you pull it off well.

Ding: HI! Na not scared off the Throne. I haven't really been online at all for a long while. It got to the stage where I was spending more time talking about the hobby than actually doing it, and that's just wrong. I'll pop back to the Throne at some point - got a lot to show you guys!

Gonfrask: here's a sneak peek of one from the other squad, Brother Hephaestus:

I'm working on the three Termies now that have different colours. The one above is a Techmarine for the unit. Because I want to use the Termies for 40k too, I needed a way of having only one heavy weapon, but didn't want to drop the two for Space Hulk. So was born the Heavy flamer/Storm bolter combi-weapon!
The other two in different colours are the dead Marine:

This one will be an Apothecary, thus the light on the top, the chainsaw on the powerfist, and the bottle for containing Geneseed.
And lastly, one I've made some progess on, Librarian Hermes:

Haha - Amazing. I too had decided to use the space hulk termies as something other than their intended 'standard poses' and a lot of the combos I tried are the same as yours - certain bodies fit together really well even if they are non standard!

Amazing squads, can't wait to get my stuff going, am doing some work on them tonight, might even start to paint!

Ooh I've never been call obnoxiously awesome before!

Here's a little update. The Librarian is now finished, but due to no light you won't get pictures until tomorrow probably. I decided that considering the 'Eavy Metal one got a funky picture on his shoulder pad (see here), my Librarian didn't want to miss out. After a little thinking I decided to go with a pretty obvious design: a lion with some stars. I also added a banner with the Librarian's name on it, following my idea that every Termie in the box should have his name on him.
So here you go, a picture of the pad. Sorry for the blurriness!

Well, as promised here are some pictures of the finished Librarian. Managed to take them just before it started raining and killed all my light.

Work on the dead Apothecary has begun. One more layer of white and the basic armour is done.

Would love to have a game Chris! Where/when do you meet? Gimme a couple of weeks to get the Stealers and Broodlord done and it'll be 1500 points and it'll be ON!

In update news: umm... not much I'm afriad. The Apothecary is almost done, but I have been busy with others things. Went to see the Flaming Lips in London yesterday (was great!), and have some work for my next trampoline coaching exam in a few weeks, so progress may be a little slow. Still, hopefully pics of the Apothecary within a day or so!

    Re: (Another) Space Hulk Log

Double post, but with a picture, so that's ok, right?

Master Apothecary Asclepius is here! He's not looking so good for wear though. It's quite a departure from the other Marines I think. I decided when starting the Celestial Lions army to avoid too much battle damage. The regular Marines have some chips on their shoulderpads and helmets and a little dust on their legs, and that's all. This guy is quite the opposite, so was a bit of a change in painting. All was fun though.
The idea behind it is that once the Genestealers start attacking the Battle Barge the Celestial Lions are on, the Master Apothecary collects all the fallen's geneseed (this will replace the blood chalice eventually). When the battle starts looking like it won't go so well, the Apothecary is ordered to retreat and seal himself in one of the rooms to preserve the Chapter's future. After this though the life support systems get severed and his air only lasts for so long... Eventually the strike team of Termies get to the Battle Barge and find him like this.

What do you all think? Comments and criticism are not only welcome, but actively encouraged!

I think You have done well, a body left centuries ago must be full of rust and dust, I would make the same grade of weather

Aaaand here's the next one. Brother Techmarine Hephaestus.

With this, that's the last of the Termies for now. I'm going to paint the rest of the Stealers and the Broodlord before going back to do the five more Marines.
I may make a step by step for the Stealers if anyone is interested. I think it's a pretty interesting method!
