Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

    About time...

    Lich Lord Venethrax

    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...lord-venethrax

Tasked with the researching of draconic lore, Lich Lord Venethrax is supremely well-suited to root out and destroy the Dragonfather’s dark progeny. Venethrax has dedicated his immortal existence to Toruk’s final war and is prepared to consume every blighted creature in charnel flames and blood. His mighty halberd, Wyrmbane, has dismembered countless draconic creations, and the lich lord’s very presence corrodes the world around him. That he now steps forth from Cryx is a dire portent, for it heralds the coming of war between the dragons.

With all that green, it just looks like a Bane Knight had sex with a Woldwarden and this is the resultant bastard child

Honestly not that bad, but perhaps a bit RAWR for my taste. Those are some funky exhaust pipes, too.

I think I want to see him in the flesh, so to speak - his price implies a medium base, however, so that's pretty damn impressive if he is.

    Hehheh!

Cool mini IMO. Not what I expected, but I actually think it's for the better. It's nice to see a Cryx Warcaster which is a bit more beefy. They kind of lack that (barring uber RAWR Terminus of course )

I don't like the cryx models much, but I have to say he is mighty fine. Lich Lord Venethrax is now on the list I want to buy among the cryx models, and thats a short list.

Not bad really. The Cryx model is certainly interesting, though the paint job is a little too green all over for me.

The pose is a little to similar to the Tyranid Broodlord model for my tastes, but other than that looks like a solid sculpt.

He's got too much glow... Exchanging some of the glowing necrotite fires for blank metal plates might help a bit.

    Drake MacBain

    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine.../drake-macbain

Some mercenaries fight for a lost home, for revenge, for adventure. Drake MacBain fights for coin. No mission too dangerous, no battlefield too bloody, he'll work for any of the warring nations of the Iron Kingdoms without moral qualm. MacBain fights with the gritty determination of the hired professional and will let nothing stop him from the completion of his contracts. He is the consummate mercenary and has the tools to finish any job.

His hands seem a bit on the large side...might just be at first glance. Other than that, he's rough and tumble - as expected from a Mercenary Warcaster.

Brutish, rough and no-nonsense - I like him

To me the pose looked more natural from the side views. Mid swing is quite cool

The only problem is his weirdly squated legs - he really should have medium sized base instead of small one.

    The colors, Duke! The colors!

This name is too long to type out (though it would have been shorter than typing this sentence).

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

    http://privateerpress.com/formula-p3...raider-captain

Raider captains are some of the most notorious pirates to sail the black waves of Meredius. Each of them commands a crew of Satyxis and other inhuman monsters kept in line only by barbaric punishments and the promise of pillage and bloodshed. Guided by whim and murderous inclination, their vessels are the Scourge of the Broken Coast. Once the inertia of violence has taken a Raider Captain, she becomes caught up in the slaughter, leaping from victim to victim as the floor runs slick with blood and the air grows heavy with the screams of the dying.

    1. That link seems wrong - I'll likely have to change it when they put it in the right spot.
    2. Must be a solo that works with the Satyxis - like how the Warchief works with the Blighted Ogrun in Legion.

judging by the exemplar errant solo in the new no quarter i would say your second point is very likely. i am not sure how much interaction she will have with the unit(remember the master gunner/trencher cannon debacle) but hopefully she has some notable utility to compete with that new siren in cryx armies.

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

    Damn dwarves

    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...rtillery-corps

    Horgenhold Artillery Corps

The clan lords of Rhul viewed the advent of artillery among the human nations of the Iron Kingdoms with amusement. The Rhulic Moot has traditionally taken a dim view of mercenary operations, but in recent years the profits certain clan lords have gained is difficult to dismiss. Certain provisions were made to allow Rhulic mercenaries abroad to equip themselves with siege cannons and other weapons of war. Their powerful mortars are extremely destructive and can be fired indirectly, giving the Rhulic army an intimidating ability to control the battlefield.

Is the gunner a girl or is that just fancy hair? I can't really tell. These are pretty cool as far as Rhulic models go. Searforge will not be starved for options.

That does, in fact, look to be a female Dwarf.

Unless Horgenhold Rhulfolk likes to wear metal bras in general, that have to be girlie dwarf

Anyway, cool minis! Those Searforge players are really getting spoiled. I don't think there has been a single bad mini among the recent releases.

The Satyxis is a bit hard to see from that photo. I really need a 3D shot to judge that one. IMHO, the artwork is very meh

Yes, I was putting it up quickly before I went out to a late birthday lunch with the coworkers and didn't notice the bronze bra

I really like it...and Horgenhold is the one that will work for the Protectorate, isn't it? Hmm...
