I'm actually hoping they have killer rules. They look ridiculous (in a good way), but they'll become a real laughing-stock if their rules are crappy.

    +1

Perhaps they are not awful minis as such. But then again, when seen in the context that they will appear in an army of corrupted draconic horrors, they are absolutely dreadful! IMHO comic relief (even if unintended) just does not work in Legion. These will under no circumstances appear in my army, even if their rules are hotter than e-Thags!

Generally speaking, I'm really unimpressed with the new Legion releases this time around. A few good ones, some allright and a few bad ones. None of them stir that wow! feeling like some of the others have (ie. Gunnbjorn, Cassius, Rasheth). Bethayne better be really, really good!!

    Nuala the Huntress

    http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gal...a-the-huntress

Tharn bloodtrackers are savage killers who become even more bloodthirsty and formidable when led into battle by their legendary hero, Nuala the Huntress. Pushed into a veritable frenzy under Nuala’s command, each bloodtracker moves with increased speed and agility, gutting her prey with one hand while pitching sharpened javelins with the other.

Well...she's made of win. Why can't Circle's warlocks look this cool?

Speaking of that - hey Circle players, who works well with Tharn Bloodtrackers? Damn, she's a pretty piece.

    Nuala's cool! Really nice one.

Is it me or is Circle getting some really cool minis this time? But allright, the faction having to live with the Gorax and the Tharn Shaman deserves it

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

Well, yeah, Cassius is also made of win, while Kromac isn't bad for a ManBearMoose - but compare Nuala to Baldur or Morvahna or even epic Kaya, and Nuala seems to kick them in the face with her raw awesomeness.

Anyway, I will admit that Legion is getting the short end of the stick with releases lately - the coolest thing we've gotten is the Stinger, and that was just a chassis upgrade. To be fair, we already have a ton of cool stuff (we definitely won out of the Metamorphosis releases), but a lot of the new Legion stuff is just "okay" as opposed to "awesome" in appearance.

As to who's "winning" - it's a toss-up. Skorne have had lots of cool stuff, while Trollbloods have been a bit lackluster outside of Gunnbjorn thus far. Circle gets sweet stuff like Nuala and Cassius, but then suffers from things like the Druid Wilder and the uninspired Reeves UA.

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

yep i think i'll ooozzzzzzzsssssss cool well it was a tos up between reeves and ua or blood trackers for my next unit after i get round to doing my skinwalkers guess who's won that vote then

i love cassius he's an awsome sculpt and ekruger i like mohsar but he dosn't screem cool and kromac's a 50/50 depending or what mood i'm in thats why he's not painted but poor old baulder needs a serious resculpt same as ekaya i just see that deformed right hand and it puts me off shame really .But morvanna and pkaya cant stand them dont care if the rules are good

legion are a bit hit and miss for me i like a lot off the stuff but this time round not so sure stingers are ok dont mind the marters or the nep but the heavies dont make the cut and the grots are sorry just comic i hope beths a good sculpt i wonder if she will come in three parts

this time i think its circle, skorne, legion and trolls minions are hit and miss for new minis

Nargacuga over at the Privateer Press forums has blessed us with the solution to the Grotesque chin problems.

The idea was to paint them like carapace...though I think it would also work as beards (and Garryth says elves have facial hair, so it's fair game! )

New models Troll wise we got the Bomber (which is a great fun model with terrific rules), and the Scouts (Pigs and Banjo playing Pygs - how is this not a good thing?). Janissa looks like she could be a very fun model (and her rules are amazing). I think Trolls did pretty damn well model wise this book.

Wow, those Gargoyles are the worst sculpts i've ever seen, the bodies, wings and heads look like they're from different kits that have been thrown together. The Tharn is nice, but it seems like PPs recent sculpts have been a bit dodgy, the Wrastler looks like a mexican wrestler crocodile, if I ever did the Blackwater list i'd order the Crocodile Gator models.

I like the Bruce Campbell wannabes but the Nuala lady wins the day. eTharg and those Bruceys will be pretty cool as a theme.

Nuala is an awesome mini- Great detail, proporsions are just right, brill pose. Not got anything bad to say about it.

Grotesques- Seems like most people hate them coz they have big Gargoyal-like chins. Yeah, so.....? They're not called "pretties" are they? They're meant to instill fear into the enemies and what does that better than somthing thats as ugly as a church ornament and can close the distance between you and it before you get the chance to notch an arrow to your bow string?
    Ugly they may be!
Not the greatest sculpt released this time round!
    But strangly I like them.
Its a flying unit FGS! Whats not to like?

And never forget that a model can be converted a bit to suit your Aesthetic requirments should you so desire to spend a small ammount of time to do so.
For example: Kaya's club hand can be cut off and be replaced with a more anatomically precise one.

Sacrilege I know but I think I have found the models to use as my Chaos Furies in my Warhammer Daemon Army, those Grotesques will do the job nicely.

I know someone referred to them as Bruceys – but my first thought wasn’t Mr Campbell! What I saw was a unit of blighted Forsyths!

'Nyss to see to you, to see you Nyss'

Originally fairly neutral on Nuala to be honest - although now that I have had a look at the 360 I have changed my mind somewhat. Like it except for the horns on the head.

I have to agree with Keravin on most accounts. The Bomber is awesome, and I think the Swamp Troll is great too. The Skinners on the hand - I'l agree with basher. The Skinners are not bad minis, but again it's the context with the rest of the army that puts me off. Sorry, but Davy Crocket and Drunken Scotsmen do not mix very well IMHO! But overall I'd say this is one of the better rounds of TB releases. If memory serves correct, Meta was much worse for the Trolls...

Yeah, they are ugly. But it's in the wrong way. If the sculpt screamed deformed and grotesque in a scary way, I'd agree. The problem is that they are ugly in a comical way. Fear is not exactly what the Grotesque sculpt seem to inspire. A good example of sculpt which are indefinitely better in this aspect would be the Incubi or even the Spell Martyrs.

The grotesques just look goofy IMO. Maybe the models look better IRL.

For some reason, one of my first thoughts in looking at the hands and pose of the first model was "40K Chaos Possessed" -- and I don't mean the new GOOD models. I mean the unmentionable 3rd/4th edition 40K metal ones.
