I would apply that to all of the epic Warlocks, they're all horrible as far as I'm concerned. All of the new epics are either comparable to the originals or only slight improvements, nothing epic about any of them.

Pretty much the result of a policy change after Legends. They toned down the epic scuplts to keep the prices down, which is why the scenic bases went away, and the models themselves are a little less over the top.

It's not just the over-the-topness that I miss, these models aren't even variations of the original, they're almost exactly the same, only slightly better (or worse in Hexeris' case).

On another note, the cannon on the Troll battle engine alone is crazy, Trolls aren't supposed to get nice things.

You must really hate every Khador epic ever, then

It doesn't seem like a ton of epics actually change that much, though, outside of the pose and minor clothing/equipment changes. Epic Stryker is pretty much just Striker on a fancy base. Epic Haley is just Haley with a swirly cloak. Epic Caine is Caine aiming his guns differently. Epic Asphyxious is mostly just a new weapon. The Testament is just the High Reclaimer with a modified weapon and his hood off. A lot of it is in the posing and weapon - not everyone can be Thagrosh or Severius.

Hexeris - updated back decoration/shoulder pads; slicy-er Gulgata
Baldur - stone-based armor; hood off
Vayl - new armor & helmet; triplicated weapon
Bloodsong - somewhat fancier hammer; non-sucking pose

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

Khador is awful for epics, haha.

It's mostly the weapons I suppose, Stryker got a much more impressive sword, Kreoss got bigger armor and a new weapon, even Vlad gets a better pose (and less Bee Gees pelvic thrusting). Almost none of the Hordes Epics feel this way, and if they really did have a policy change as suggested above, that's a real shame, some of the best models PP has done are epics (eCaine, eSeverius, etc.)

Some of your guesses are very, very wrong. Strength and POW are almost certainly reversed. If not, then I never want to see an earthborn on the table ever again. Seriously though, P on melee weapons almost never gets that high, usually tops at 8 on puny casters.

Point cost is absurdly wrong. 9 or 10 is likely. 24 is more than twice the cost of the most expensive engine so far. Almost twice as much as the most expensive models in the game.

FA will be 2, like every other battle engine.

I like it. I may actually get it, even though I hadn't planned on picking up any battle engines.
Lion: Hey Russ, you'll never guess what!
Russ: Yeah, I know! Magnus is a traitor! To think that he could accuse our beloved brother Horus of turning against us. Impossible! But don't worry. I have taken care of it, Horus asked me to destroyed Prospero and I have. Magnus shouldn't be bothering us again.
Lion: ... actually, I was going to say that Magnus was right. Horus has turned to Chaos, 7 other Legions have joined him and he has destroyed 3 Loyal Legions already!

Indeed - Privateer just made a great Chaos Warshrine (if people don't mind it flowing off the base in WHFB ).

I'm really hoping that thing works well with either Vayl, as she'd be my first choice to have such a creation in the army (Saeryn and Bethayne probably tie for second choice).

    Hey, that's actually very good!

Had my doubts PP could pull off such a weird concept - but it seems like they succeeded admirably. The Sorceress ain't that hot, but not straight out bad. She can be replaced anyway.

Tied with the Fulcrum and the Storm Strider for best War Engine yet IMHO. Unfortunately, if the TB and Skorne ones don't turn out very much different from what we have seen, the "yet" part may very well be struck!

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

Lots of stuff today - Menite Solo, Mercenary plastics, and the Boneswarm moving to Warmahordes.

    Nicia, Tear of Vengeance

    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...r-of-vengeance

The widow of a proud Menite soldier, Nicia hopes only that by the time she meets her own inevitable, bloody death she will have killed enough unbelievers to join her husband at Menoth’s side. This peerless Daughter of the Flame strides through battle with lethal grace and speed, each movement gauged to bring her within striking distance. Even as she cuts through one foe, she fells another with cannon fire, wheeling her blade around for another kill. Few enemies have witnessed Nicia's murderous devotions and lived.

    Mercenary Heavy Warjacks

    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...warjacks/rover
    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...warjacks/nomad
    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine.../warjacks/mule

Mercenary warjacks are often drawn from discontinued chassis once produced by kingdom armies. The Mule, a former Cygnaran warjack, wields a massive battle mace and an innovative steam-powered cannon packing enough explosive punch to scatter enemies like leaves. The Nomad, once a Cygnaran mainstay, has been battering enemy ’jacks with its battle blade for 150 years. The Rover was built specifically for mercenary use, and its battleaxe and shield-mounted cannon have turned the tide of many a battle. Mercenaries maintain these battle-tested machines and find them fully capable of standing toe-to-toe against any fresh from the assembly line.

This box set contains three color stat cards and one multi-part heavy warjack plastic model (PIP 41085). Included are all the components to assemble one of three heavy warjack variants: Mule, Nomad, or Rover. A player may field any number of these heavy warjacks with a Mercenary warcaster.

    Boneswarm

    http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gal...asts/boneswarm

The boneswarm is an undulating mass of osseous debris given horrid life and animation by lingering necromantic energies in places where many have died. Gatorman bokors have learned to control these horrors, directing them to envelop foes in a mass of biting, toothy skulls. The bones of its slain victims are incorporated into the boneswarm itself, allowing it to heal damage and grow stronger and more resilient.

But wheres the plastic mangler? D: Honestly, they could have gotten it into the same kit with minimal effort. Do you think we'll be stuck with the old metal one, or will we get an upgrade kit alongside the inevitable Rocinante upgrade.

As for Nicia, thats a really nice sculpt. It isn't overly dramatic or outstanding, but it looks very clean, and just... nice!

The boneswarm is pretty ronseal though. It is what it says on the tin. A swarm of bones. Not bad, at all, but nothing outstanding compared to the other preveiws!
