Ah, thats true. Though the 'spear' attack on the Uhlans is the butt of the lance, which is screwy. But the protectorate does have swords on their lancers. Destors have the lance rule, but the gun for the gunfighter attacks is actually part of the lance as well.

    ...wat.

The Pauldrons on Vlad and particularly eVlad are so big that they can't possibly be helping. Cinderblock hammer syndrome is everywhere. Note that "cinderblock hammer syndrome" refers to any weapon that is far too large to be practical (hammer heads the size of a cinderblock are just the poster-child for this). The number of models that can't fit a hand around their weapon is staggering. Weighted chains are almost always perfectly straight, whether at rest in the air or being swung around (take a piece of string with a a weight on the end and move it around a bit, you'll see that it stays pretty straight at all times). The net is not fine, it's an embarrassment to the craft of sculpting. A Chainmail bikini hardly qualifies as armor, let alone steam-powered mechanikal *warcaster* armor. The armor of a MoW/Bastion/Cataphract *cannot* fit a human-sized and human-shaped creature with all its joints in the right place, let alone follow the diagram in the Khador book.

Privateer models are cartoonish, very much so. If 40k is "Batman: the Animated Series" cartoonish then WarmaHordes is more like "Street Sharks" cartoonish or "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" cartoonish (one internets to the first guy to find Beebop and Rock Steady). On a good day 40k at lies tries to *pretend* that physics exists. With Privateer the train stops in Sillytown and never gets chuggin' again.

Having said that, I play this game and enjoy the look of many of the models. They just don't make any sense... and that's okay.

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

Again a wizard did it. Seriously. In the Iron Kingdoms those oversized weapon are mechanica, magicaly enhanced to be lighter & stronger than what is possible. Awarcaster could be runing around bare balls naked with just a steam engine strapped to their back because in the fluff their main source of protection is their magicaly powered force field. Besides the 4th law of fantasy settings states that the less of an area female armour covers then the more effective that armour will be.

But even if that wasn't the case this is a fantasy game. Who cares if whats shown isn't possible in real life. Its make believe. Reality is often shunted aside in the name of being interesting, cool or funny in most entertainment media (or Fox News). The ship physics in Star Wars or hand guns propelling their targets 10 feet trough the air in action movies.

Who cares if a model is physical possible in real life if it looks cool?

As for eVlads shoulder pads you odviously missed the eighties, at one point his shoulders pads would have been considered weedy & conservitive.

The addendum to that law is "If you're a female in the employ of Cryx and you're facing off against Victoria Haley, it doesn't matter what you're wearing. You will get curb-stomped."

Eh. To me they look equally cartoonish, and in much the same way. Its never even occured to me that 40k even knows what physics is, let alone pretends that it exists.

    Sphynx, Daemon, Banshee

    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...rjacks/banshee

Recently unleashed upon the enemies of the Retribution, House Vyre’s myrmidons were developed with distinct capabilities all their own. The Banshee emits a high-pitched wail that prevents enemy spellcasters from using their magic, while its shrieking cannon hurls enemies aside with raw sonic power. A powerful assault myrmidon, the Daemon smashes foes with its rune fists or blasts them with concentrated arcane energy from its vortex cannon. The Sphinx rends its enemies with twin force claws or uses its runespear cannon to shatter an enemy’s mystical defenses, making it more vulnerable to magical attacks.

    Yes!

From the bottom of my mage hating heart, yes!

Those are models from my dreams.

Very nice models, my only complaint is that the mounts for the shoulder cannons are a bit chubby, they don't fit with the sleek imagery of the rest of the Retribution.
Other than that I'm very happy, can't wait to get my hands on these!
    - But I don't want to go among mad people.

    - You can't help that, we're all mad here...

The Vyre stuff is supposed to look a bit thicker/solid, compared to the House Shyeel 'midons. I quite liked the translation from fluff to table top here.

I really like the Vyrmidons, though they won't be replacing my favourite Shymidon, the Phoenix.
But the Banshee certainly will find a place in many a larger army.

By the looks of it, there is only the head, hands and shoulder cannon to switch around so magnetisation should be easy enough.

Lion: Hey Russ, you'll never guess what!
Russ: Yeah, I know! Magnus is a traitor! To think that he could accuse our beloved brother Horus of turning against us. Impossible! But don't worry. I have taken care of it, Horus asked me to destroyed Prospero and I have. Magnus shouldn't be bothering us again.
Lion: ... actually, I was going to say that Magnus was right. Horus has turned to Chaos, 7 other Legions have joined him and he has destroyed 3 Loyal Legions already!

Not a huge fan, but I've never been a huge fan of the retribution jacks. Might be the coloursheme, or it's the break with the rest of the world in terms of style and looks.

Anyway, grats to all the RoS players

Nice! The Daemon isn't that good, but the Sphinx and Banshee looks great. Vyros and Ossyan will be most pleased. Added to shopping list.

But God, the official colourscheme looks awful! It also looks a bit rushed on these, if you ask me. The glow effects lack diffusion, and the gold detailing looks plain bad.

Now we're only waiting for Hypnos!

    Rocinante

    http://privateerpress.com/warmachine...acks/rocinante

Rocinante has served as the faithful companion for warcasters of the Damiano family for over a hundred years, and its gleaming armor is festooned with gilt scrollwork bearing such ancient family mottos as "Blood Shines Gold." In battle, the towering warjack hacks down foes with its massive battle blade or blasts them to pieces with its great cannon.
