Menoth always seem to pull it back with a stunning model, cannot wait to get one!

I like the Conquest model, but the rules are supposedly Meh!
In fact most of the Colossal Rules are Meh except maybe the Stormwall.
Lion: Hey Russ, you'll never guess what!
Russ: Yeah, I know! Magnus is a traitor! To think that he could accuse our beloved brother Horus of turning against us. Impossible! But don't worry. I have taken care of it, Horus asked me to destroyed Prospero and I have. Magnus shouldn't be bothering us again.
Lion: ... actually, I was going to say that Magnus was right. Horus has turned to Chaos, 7 other Legions have joined him and he has destroyed 3 Loyal Legions already!
    Russ:

You know, I'll agree with this. There is very little in the Protectorate range that disappoints me (outside of Kreoss2, but maybe Kreoss3 will compensate).

I do take some issue with the resultant rules, though. The Vessel of Judgement is amazing, but what the heck do I do with it? It doesn't really jive with my mindset as a player...heck, I can't even remember why I dislike the rules at the moment, I just remember I couldn't figure out how to fit it into any list that I'd want to play. I'm afraid their Colossal will be the same way...but the model reminds me enough of the Eidolon/Esper Alexander that I'll get it anyway.

Hordes gets the better deal, IMO. I can see a lot more use out of, say, the Throne of Everblight or the Celestial Fulcrum or even the Siege Animantarax (or however you spell that one), than the Wraith Engine, Vessel of Judgement, or Arcantrik Force Generator. Then again, I started this whole mess with a Hordes army, so maybe I'm just conditioned to lean towards the bestial side of the game. *shrugs*

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

It's a difficult one to call. I don't know if I'm biased for playing the faction, but I've also noticed that I'm hard pressed to play certain PoM pieces such as the Vessel of Judgement when I already have things that pretty much do the same. Okay, the VoJ is useful for the upkeep removal and the ability to boost everything, but I always fancy that a Reckoner jumps out first (I know, Reckoners are always going to jump out first). The Judicator seems a little lacklustre for not having (what I would say) interesting or different rules, there's also a slight niggle at it being SPD 4 with short ranged guns in a faction that doesn't have the likes of snipe. Contrarily, our jacks come with the best support, so it's a given that it will most likely always be able to play well, just without showing anything new. It may seem silly to be complaining about having too much to choose from, there's just a lack of excitement. Then again, as mentioned, it just steals the show with looks and perhaps that's enough.

Hordes often seems to get the better deal, more so on a creative design. I feel this is just a consequence of the two system's themes. Warmachine mostly deals with industrial nations, and so uniformity can be expected, that's not to say that there aren't areas of branching, but Hordes exhibits more varied and different aspects that are perhaps owed to the grander fantasy setting and less militarised factions... I'm probably just talking crap

Exciting few days for Warmachine players.

Vyros2 is pretty much everything I wanted. I'm sad to lose flank, but I think synergy will end up being better for the army.

Hyperion is cool looking, not sure if it's worth the points and price tag.

Archangel is an amazing model, I don't care about the rules.

I also really like the Judicator model, the 2 player battle box is starting to look more tempting...

I'm probably one of the very few, if not one and only, who saw the Woldwrath and decided to pick up Circle as my first Hordes faction? It's got that whole Wold vibe to the Nth degree and what appear to be enormous cannon in those shoulder/menhirs(sp?). Sold.

I've already got a Stormwall on order and the minute I saw the Judicator 3d pics I knew I'd be grabbing that as well. It gonna be a happy and penniless year.

It's funny that Menoth has gotten the coolest looking colossal when they tend to have the goofiest-looking warjacks. I hope future Menoth-jacks look more like mini-Judicators.

yeah kinda. its not that its bad, it just suffers from all the usual khador weaknesses (one being that we arent really a jack faction), PLUS it has no fun melee rules. its ok at range and ok in melee. its boring and vanilla.
ill still buy one tho, but not the 2 i planned on initially

Can someone post up a link to the archangel model, this has peaked my curiosity, I bought some cygnar models to paint for fun, and am after a few more.
    Warhammer 6th edition.
    Grey knights: wins:8 draws:1 losses:1.
    Blood angels: wins:2 draws:0 losses:1.

New projects: dark elves, cygnar, blood angels (brotherhood of blood)

I think they hate the Conquest more for what little it does for its points cost. But the Mountain King is so far the worst. Something about 43 damage boxes and 19 points, no regenerate, one range attack and 2 P+S19 fists.

Here's a link to pics of the Archangel. There's concept art for the Skorne Mammoth and Galleon as well.

So basically we know what all the 4 Hordes Gargantuans are, Dragon for LoE, Mountain King for Trollbloods, Wold Wrath for Circle and Mammoth for Skorne.

Slightly disappointed with the Menoth Colossal. I will probably pick one up for completions sake though.

The Trollblood and Legion gargantuans are amazing though. I'll probably start a Legion faction just because of that model. The Skorne one isn't that exciting but I'm a fan of their current warbeasts so a giant one I think will look good anyway. Don't like the Circle one.

    Now with rotation:

    Mountain King

    http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gal.../mountain-king

To look upon a mountain king is to see the primal essence of the troll: hunger, rage, and the strength of nature. Set loose upon the world, these great trolls shake the ground with their tread and sunder granite with their roars. Mountain kings, who seek to satisfy an appetite incomprehensible to lesser creatures, now walk Caen again after millennia of imprisonment below the earth. Their awakening can mean only desperation—or madness—on the part of the trollkin.

    Also:

    Hordes Two-Player Battlebox

In a World Ravaged by Warfare, Fury is Your Greatest Weapon!

From the frozen northern wastes the Legion of Everblight descends upon Immoren, defiling the land with taint and corruption. Dependent upon nature but fueled by its raw and ancient power, the druids of the Circle Orboros clash with the dragon Everblight’s forces to halt the spread of the dragon’s blight. The irrepressible Kaya the Wildborne, flanked by her trusted pack of beasts, leads the Circle’s vanguard against twisted and bloodthirsty ogrun and dragonspawn led by the deadly Lylyth, Herald of Everblight.

CONTAINS EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A TWO-PLAYER GAME.

Complete HORDES: Primal Mk II rules in a travel-sized booklet (88 pages), an introductory guide, dice, a ruler, and 20 plastic HORDES models with corresponding stat cards.

    http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gal...attlegroup-box

    •Warlock Kaya the Wildborne
    •Feral Warpwolf heavy warbeast
    •Argus light warbeast
    •Winter Argus light warbeast
    •Warpborn Skinwalker unit (5 models)

    •Warlock Lylyth, Herald of Everblight
    •Carnivean heavy warbeast
    •4 Shredder lesser warbeasts
•Blighted Ogrun Warspear unit (5 models)

Oh, I'm rather glad I haven't bothered to pick up the plastic battleboxes now - since Circle and Legion were the ones I was about to grab So here we have the Legion Battlebox and a box of Warspears against the Circle Battlebox (with one Winter Argus subbed in for one normal Argus) and a box of Skinwalkers (which are now plastic - hurrah!).

    Awesome cover art, too.

Yeah hadn't expected the Hordes starter until next year.

    Holy Crap!

I've probably said that 3 or 4 times in response to Privateer Press related content in the past week or two. It's making me really wonder about PP's games and IP.

I played Warmachine a year ago and was vaguely unimpressed. In addition, page 5 left a bad taste in my mouth.

These releases (along with No Quarter's sample content) are winning me over. I could easily learn to enjoy the relentless style of gameplay, and the only thing that is making me think twice about picking up that Hordes box when it comes available is the fact that I'll be in school for the next 3 years reading legal material until my brains leak out of my ears.

You will need a break from the study or you will go HERRING.

Is the Circle force a good starter? I've read a lot of posts that the second vanilla Argus gets subbed a lot.

This will deffo be my entry into Hordes once I get my first Malifaux crew painted up. and possibly buy new PC bits.

I think so yeah. The fact that they changed the second Argus from the battlebox into a Winter argus is awesome, it makes it so much better.

Interesting Hordes starter - 2 factions I don't own which is cool. Love the new skinwalkers.
