Through cunning, raw power, political acumen, and tactical genius, Lord Arbiter Hexeris has furthered his own schemes while simultaneously strengthening the Skorne Empire. The lord arbiters occult knowledge goes well beyond the lore of the skorne, and no enemy arcanist is safe from his vampiric thirst for mystical secrets. To oppose him in battle is to be sapped of arcane power as he steals and transforms the energies of his foes.
This blister contains one metal multi part model, with plastic base and 2 Stat Cards. Model supplied unpainted, assembly is required

What a boring sculpt of Hexeris. It's almost the same as the original, but entirely without its character. Uninspired indeed...

Can't say I'm impressed with anything pertaining to the recent Hordes release. Come on PP - you can do better!

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

Ugh...from looking at the pose, I wouldn't have thought that was Hexeris (zooming in, the face and weapon are recognizable). It has no hints of his scheming, daresay courtly, ways like his original sculpt. I know characters change a bit when they go epic, but jeez...the pose is just wrong.

With the exception of Maelok, everything's been a bit underwhelming (okay...I like Kallus, too, but more because of the fact he's a custom-built male than because of how he looks). I haven't had a "Must buy!" urge from Privateer all year...their model choices are a big part of that.

    I mean, what's next, Epic Vayl's model falcon-punching a Tharn Bloodtracker?

I just really hope that the epic Vayl model doesn't have the water-inflated footballs that the Domination adverts have. She is one of my favorite characters in the setting and that 'art' didn't do her justice at all.

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

    Ugh.

Detail is too chunky - the horns/tusks on his back are ridiculous and the ornament above his head is as bizarrely thick as the spear-hafts ont he original Deneghra and Asphyxious. His face is wrong...I'm not sure what it is, but it doesn't remind me of Hexeris at all.

The pose is terrible for the description - he looks like a fighter instead of some sort of conniving magister.

Scratch that - he doesn't look like a fighter. He looks like he's unleashing a face-melting guitar riff.

Hordes seems to be slipping in model quality (Warmachine is still pretty solid, though)...what the hell is going on at PP? I'm really worried about Epic Vayl now - and I dread to see what's going to become of the new warbeasts and battle engines (will they all look as vacuum-formed as the resin portion of the Wraith Engine? ugh).

Sorry for the grumble - I was really looking forward to new Hexeris and this is disappointing.

For the most part, I actually do like him. Or at least, his armour. The face is a bit wrong, though- its not so much that he's playing guitar, its that he's holding the weapon and looking at it as if to say 'Holy crap! Where did this come from?' He seems genuinely surprised to be holding Gulgata. Which to be fair, I can understand, as many epics get shiny new weapons.

Looks like a lizard or maybe an armadillo more than a cat.

Definitely a four-legged beastie with a howdah and some sort of Venator weapon. Honestly not a bad Battle Engine for the Skorne.

Also looks like there's a new Warpwolf model on the back with Grayle - character or a resin/plastic kit?

Also, the Thrones still freak me out...

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

Interesting. Can't make out many details, but I like the general look of that warpwolf better than the current one.

Kinda sad that the Skorne war engine isn't the artillery beast from the Witchfire trilogy. And the 'melee' pod is a bit weird- even with those spears there isn't enough reach to engage folks on the ground.

I approve of the living battle engines, however. Circle one is going to be interesting as well. What little I've seen of the trollblood one just seems boring though.

I'd argue the point... but there are only a handful of models in the entire faction that I find interesting.

The only one that hasn't been boring has been Circle so far, the Battle Engines overall have been a huge let down.

Re: Forces of Warmachine: Books and New Models

the troll battle engine is just a gun carriage with trolls but i think its cool if a little off the wall. The problem you get when adding huge machine into the fluff is why have i not seen it before if its that big?
otherwise i think they are cool if not as uber as we expected.

Considering most of the troll casters look like derivatives of "Boss Nass" from Phantom Menace I can see that being a hard sell to anyone.

Funnily enough, the model I do like from the trolls is Hoarluk Doomshaper -- yet he is apparently a 'sub-par' warlock (thus saeith the Internet so it must be true).
