haha, we all have this problem. For me, the secret to keeping up, is never to build anything that isn't on deck to be painted. But I often stall out on a mini when I get to painting the bolters, and backpacks.
DK- base your models before priming and painting, and paint the sand. You'll be surprised how it improves the outlook of a mini. Elmer's white glue is fine, but if you don't prime and paint the sand, it will slowly flake away as there is nothing over top of it to keep it in. Priming you bases, with your mini, seals in most of the texture from the sand. Painting it gives it the same quality look as your minis... it all fits together because it's all the same quality of colour. And it takes all of 30 seconds to dry brush the base with a couple of tones of colour. The new paint system really should lend itself to this process. Just choose you base colour style, get 2 or 3 tones that you can drybrush on, and your flying.
