Well, ended up ordering the Chaos stuff from the starter box on Ebay. Won't arrive till around the 18th. Seriously thinking about selling the ghoul/daemons once the last one is painted. Not sure how much they will sell for, but I want to get my hands on a Soulgrinder, without dipping into the funds I put back for the CSM rework.

Well, buying the new starer is obviously the best thing you can do with your money. I know I'm getting a set for sure. And btw don't sell your ghouls man!

Those ghouls can always be played as plaguebearers. They fit that roll pretty well, they are too well painted to be sold.

Re: DK's Black Legion (still mostly grey)

I don't think I will sell them, gonna need them for a while anyway, since I have to build up my Daemon allies. I've been thinking I really want a Bloodthirster, perhaps even Skarbrand the Exiled (I think that is correct). I started work on the last ghoul, hope to at least have him done before my DV stuff arrives. I really need to add some Tzeentchy units to my force, anyone heard any rumors about new 1kSons stuff?

Last ghoul/daemon is painted, just gotta varnish and base. FINALLY. Might actually get most of the last Oblit done before my DV stuff arrives.

Thanks a lot guys, kinda sad now that they are done. Really enjoyed painting them. Group shot as requested, BtR.

If I ever manage to take a good photo, I'll dance a jig.

Re: DK's Black Legion (still mostly grey)

Well, just about finished painting the body of my last Oblit. Um, things could get tricky. I, for some reason (probably senility) forgot to drill holes in the arm pegs so I could pin the arms on. Being almost fully painted, one slip of the pin vise could be a disaster. The arms are almost impossible to glue on without pinning though, so I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed (not while drilling, of course) and just hope for the best. At least I left the pegs and a small area around them without paint for gluing, so if I'm careful... dang it, I could possibly break him off the base with too much pressure, arrrgghhh. I really don't want to touch the paint either. Curses.

Ah, thankfully I got all the holes drilled without a hitch. Well, my billfold is about to get a lot lighter...how about you guys? Raptors: Yes Please! Warpsmith: Yes Please! Hardback dex: Crap, alright GW, I'll bite. Daemon Engines: Still on the fence. Aspiring Champion: Yes Please! Heldrake: It's growing on me. Very slowly.

Well, I just need to see if I can still play my DG plague marines...if you have to take a nurgle lord to unlock them, then fine, if you have to ALWAYS PLAY typhus I'll cry...a lot. Want just the codex for the time being...

I really like the gouhls by the way.

Thanks. I liked having cult troops as troops, not elites. That never made sense to me, the average joes from another force were elites in another? Plus, we don't need more elites choices. Heck, it would be real hard to convince me not to take at least a few Chosen and Termies on any mission. But the real advantage I had over most loyal armies lay with the cult troops. I never spammed them, always took half my troops as nilla squads. Actually, I was disappointed in my one zerk squad more often than not (stupid sacred numbers, why do I still do that?), but my two plague marine squads were brilliant in most battles. Looks as though I'll have to find new ways of fighting my most hated enemy, my best pal's Dark Angels. Not having cult troops as troops is gonna make that a lot harder. I'm sure they'll be other devious ways to kill the Emperor's lapdogs though. Perhaps a flood of Cultists will confuse him for a few games and allow me to win, lol.

    *EDIT*
GREAT. Just great. I finally receive my DV stuff from Ebay after three weeks waiting, the pegs on the Hellbrute are broken, there are stress marks everywhere, my lightning claws are actually bent into little balls, a Cultist backpack is broken, etc. etc. Shipped in a bubble envelope. Now I gotta get a refund, pay for the return shipping, and go with plan B, buy the entire set from GW and sell the DA stuff. Yay! Assuming I can even get a set from GW.

Well, imagine this: A few elite chaos space marines with a Dark Apostle guide a huge pile of cultist to represent the corrupted citizens of a world. Add there a Imperial Guard allied detachment to represent the less numerous but more proffesional PDF corrupted forces. You have numbers, good firepower with the posibility of a Hydra platoon squad thanks to the Imperial Guard. Huge numbers, good firepower, good armour, efficient anti-air force and resilient units in close combat (30 man cultist squad with the icon of vengeance so fearless). And there you have a fluffy army to represent the downfall of a planet

Re: DK's Black Legion (still mostly grey)

The addition of Cultists will really bolster my style of play. I'm a balls to the wall attack player, I like to move and keep pressure on the enemy. Currently, this is costly because I normally take quite a few casualties before closing the gap with my stabby units (besides an Oblit squad and plasma spam Chosen squad, most everything I have is geared for assault). So with Cultists I have cheap meat shields to help protect my slower-moving squads like the Oblits and Termies. Add some Daemon allies (probably Plaguebearers and Nurglings, although I'm rather tempted by Pink Horrors. I also plan on a Bloodthirster, mwahaha!) to wreak destruction and sow confusion early on, my Black Legion is gonna get a lot more formidable soon. Attack, attack, attack! I very rarely play against anything besides my best pal's dug-in, shooty Dark Angels (which I must admit are always a tough nut to crack) so I doubt I could match his long range firepower. Cultists and Daemons are gonna make him a lot less comfortable when he tries to hole up and throw Plasma Cannon and Sniper Rifle fire at my chaos boys. He likes to do that a lot, and laughs a little too gleefully when they hit their mark, lol. Also, just gotta paint the arms on my last Oblit, pics forthcoming, soon hopefully.

WAY, the last oblit. Glad to read that. I think that after finishing the 3 rhinos and the sargent and 7 man DG squad I have, I'll try to build a renegade army. furthermore, I'll need a camera to finally create a tread here...

So, how many points is the Black Legion right now? Just curious...

4k exactly. Everything built except a Land Raider I've got to finish. Besides 2 LRs, a Vindy, 4 Rhinos, 15 Raptors (getting rebuilt with some of the new ones added) and 8 zerkers (also hoping to rebuild with a new box) everything painted. Oh, got a metal termie lord to finish up painting too. After the zerkers and Raptors are painted, I'm probably gonna pick up an airbrush for the vehicles. I'm not counting the DV stuff, as it has to be returned because it was damaged. Hopefully the ebay seller will send replacements in better shape soon. Eventually I hope to add around 2k of Daemons. I've been thinking of starting a LatD force too. I figure I need to stop CSM at around 5k, since I've never played a battle larger than 4k. After that, add the Daemons and LatD. I say Lost and the Damned, because I remember reading somewhere that they are traitor Imperial Guard loyal to Black Legion. Who knows how big they will grow, I really like the idea of tons of traitor Guardsmen, and converted Guard tanks. Think I may pick up a box of these soon:
