A rarely updatet log from a lazy dane

Now is the time. The endless excuses ends tonight, right here right now!

Hopefully this place will envolve into a log where all the great users from warseer will help encuraging me to get some painting done.

I currently have around 4 imperial army projecs going on but no fully paintet army and with all the great logs i have seen on this site with people making gorgeus armys in no time i better get to work.

First the mandatory workspace picture (since i dont have a pet(well i have one but she is doing the dishes))

well im pretty messy around my desk so i had to take 2 pictures

Yeah yeah i know. I could have stod up from the chair and taken 2 steps backwards but thats just so easy for you to say!!

Anyways. After Space Hulk came out i have gotten in the mood for making a blood angel army, maybe a first company list aswell becuse of the SH models.
    This is my test mini.

I have no intentions on making a great looking army like the other stuff we see in here. I would just like to get a decent tabletop force that is fully paintet. The test mini is paintet using Army painter undercoat spray and gw washes. I made a few highlighs on the armor but i think ill rather go without since i think the washes allready adds mutch to the model and it will save me loads of time. Also it can be added later if i feel like it and aint busy rebasing and finishing my other sm army or working on my ig army (somewhere my brain tells me i have gw stocks, BUY BUY BUY)

After seeing the pictures i have seen the obvius FAILS!!! on the test mini (is his eye popping out?)

Thank you all for reading hope some of you will post a comment and keep my motivation up.

Ohh yeah... sorry for bad pictures and gramma.

that base looks good, tad hard to see from pics. only thing i could think to make it "pop" more would be the colour of its shoulder's

    thx for the kind words.

No there are no highlights on the black. At first i wanted to do some but i changed my mind. I think it might be the picture that make some of my colors look a lil think i hope to have some non-test marines rady at the end of the week.

Aha, the great evil of model photography! What looks absolutely fine to the eye turns out to be a massive error on the model - I feel your pain here and wish you good luck with your log.

What did you use to prime them red, seems to be a good red base. Did you use the GW spray gun and blood red? Nice to see another Angels player, Im sure we will see a surge over the next little while.

Re: A rarely updatet log from a lazy dane

Im having a bad photoshoot day for with i blame todays violent media (more mw2?)
But noone the less ill bring you a picture of my first termie.

I have noticed quete a few mistakes on the photo and its not easy to see the shading done with the washes. Im still not sure if i should highlight the armor and bolter or not but i guess i can allways do that later on.
Now i just need to find out how to make a decent 1000pts deathwing list (yes recomendations from you people are expectet!!)

I will try to post a better pic when i have also fixed the bugs ive made on this.

    @tcraigden
Due to lazyness i have primed the models using army painters pure red spray. Its a little trickier than GW's but i think it works just fine when you take a little extra time when priming your minis.

I would like to hear your comments on this and if anyone know anything abouth who's the captain of the BA 1st company i would really like that info. Anything from name, armament and background story would be awesome. So faar i havent been able to find anything and i dont even think gw has made any info on this dude.
I have been able to find the dude thats included in all the space hulk stuff but they should have replaced him by now right?

*EDIT: found out abouth the 1st company captain. I should read my Space Hulk manual better. /point me /laught /rookie.

Re: A rarely updatet log from a lazy dane

I was anceus to show that i have worked a little on my minis during the holiday so i took a crappy ticture at 3:30 in the morning. I will try to take a better one when i can get some decent lightning or figure out if my camera got any ninja-mini-picture taking modes.

Im mostly using these to try out the ap red primer and gw washes and il properly hide the figs in the buttom of my fig case whenever the new ba minis come out. Until that ill make the other 5 members of this tactical squad and then im off to paint around 15 termies i have ready.... and 4 br termies for my other sm army that just need the finishing toutches.

    thx for reading.

Re: A rarely updatet log from a lazy dane

I think i have finally mastered the fine art of phototaking a lil better. So now you can better see my slobby painting :P

Anyway, got 4 very wip br termies for my vanilla marine army 'The fist of Dorn'.

These still need ALOT of work. The scenic bases are a new feature on my marines and i need to change all the bases on my other minis. Ill make some before pictures so you can see how my old bases looked later on. Ive made them from some textured plasticcard but the minipusher who sold them to me told me that the company who made them shut down. I planned on using the proces to rework some of the slobbyness oin my figures and take the quality a lil up.

Keep readin and ill keep working

Re: A rarely updatet log from a lazy dane

So.... A guy walk down to his basement to prime a rhino and a spiderweb falls down on the wet tank. WTF ESAD SPIDERMAN!!!

    Anyway...
Got some well deserved(no i dont believe that either) time of and spend a lil time painting some more blood angels.

Heres the tank that got infestet by a spiderweb. Ill have to see if i can save it with brushstrokes whenever the primer is dry.

Also worked a lil on the 2nd combat squad for my first tactical squad.

Then also i discovered a huuuuge error on the first combat squad. Got no idea why the picture is rotatet and failed when i tryed to fix it :S

The sergents shoulderpad is red with black trims and it should ofc have been the other way around.
Also im still in doubt on what color the chesteagle should be. Due to the great bible...

.. they got golden chest eagles so i might wanna give that a try.

Also im still not sure if red primer is the way to go. When you get a lil practice and can stay patient with ap sprays then they seem fine. But im not patient at all and ive fallen in love with using gesso as a primer so ill have to try making a few more test of doing BA's on a black undercoat. Ilikebmx got a great log with BA's on black primer but the one i tryed failed misserably.

Aaaanyway, got some time left until the new figs are comming out and ill properly put the ones ive made lowest in the pile of battle ready minatures anyway so i might change painting method in a while.

Thx for reading and not mocking me of any of all my typo's (engrish as a 2nd language)

Great looking Blood Angel's. Are those shoulder pads from the GW bits packs?

    Glad you like them .
Yes it is gw metal ones. The current ba ones are old mold and to be honest they are horrible. They fir horribly and takes a lot of work to make usable by either cutting in the marine shoulder or by filing the inside of the shoulder pad.
And if i manage to take a good picture they are a little smaller than plastic shoulder pads. So it looks kinda wrong.
Thank god plastic BA's are on their way

Great work. I am a big fan of AP primers. Easy and direct approach to a solid looking army, yours. I´d go for yellow chest eagles, old 2nd edition fashion.

I seem to have some problems with mine. But think im just to used to gw's primers and should try to be more patient.
