A Tale of Two Gamers - Deathwing and Salamanders

    Ahoy hoy!

Quite a few of you will know me by now due to my numerous abortative logs here on the old Warseer so now I'm trying something different. Like many gamers I suffer from hobby tourettes and often find myself getting bored of an army before its even approaching a gaming state and so I've decided to do a joint blog with the-skylord.

As we're both at Uni together we're able to motivate each other with empty threats and pokes in eyes if work isn't done on the armies. The plan is to get two 1850pt armies made up in the next few months. I'll be working on a Salamanders army, which shockingly enough will not be including He'stan, and the-skylord will be doing a Deathwing army led by Cpt. 'Useless' Belial himself.

These will be primarily modelling projects as the-skylord already has a decent sized Death Guard army and I'm more a modeller than a painter or gamer. I can't paint for **** so I'll be dipping my army but the-skylord will be painting his, because he's a show off like that.

Currently the-skylord is waiting on his order from Wayland Games so he can start on his army and I'm working my way through cleaning up a Black Reach set, so there'll be pictures up soon as you all know what naked plastic Black Reach Marines look like.

    Dual-blog, I choose you!

    Hi, the-skylord here.

So this will be my second log. This time showing the making of an army instead of just completed pictures. So I'm doing Deathwing when they arrive. Whilst I'm painting unlike the other who dips, I'm still doing a quick painting scheme that uses the washes.

So, more from me when my models arrive.

Ok, so here is my test model for my Deathwing army. The idea is to have a quick way to paint them but to get them to look good for table-top quality.

And here is Cpt. Useless, this model was not made by me. Full credit for building it goes to Mega Nutz.

Should be interesting to watch as it progresses.

@the-skylord: Add a couple highlights to the terminator and he'll be looking great.

@salvindogath: That bag contains lots of Dark Angel bits for the terminators and the LRC's. That Captain model is Belial. He was made by Mega Nutz

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Re: A Tale of Two Gamers - Deathwing and Salamanders

We are back, or at least I am back! With uni work all finished, damn esssays and presentations, and with the holidays approaching I can at last return my hand to the task of building my Deathwing army.

At present there is no photos but that should hopefully change in the next few days. However, you all probably know what grey terminators look like! (Now imagine that some of them have DA parts on them!). For the first time ever I'm magnitising the heavy weapon terminators, so they can switch between the assult cannon and the heavy flamer.

Having realised that there was no way I was going to do free hand symbols on all the shoulder pads, I have taken the plunge and bought Forgeworld ones. They are great! Thats about all, hopefully next time there will be photos.

    Cheers for that though Pete!

Heading back up to Aberdeen tomorrow, where all my models are, so there should be some photo's on the horizon!

@Saul Tarvitz: Where's your models? Have you got round to spraying them?

Re: A Tale of Two Gamers - Deathwing and Salamanders

Not yet no, its far too bloody cold for that up here! Besides I thought we'd agreed to build all our stuff at the same time?

Having said that though I think I've woken up with tonsilitis this morning, which should put the brakes on building just yet.

Re: A Tale of Two Gamers - Deathwing and Salamanders

As it turns out it doesn't seem to be tonsilits, but merely a sore throat that yesterday presented with interesting swelling. The huge amounts of paracetomol I consumed yesterday through drinking Beechams certainly helped.

Should hopefully get a fair bit cleaned up today if not assembled.
