Back again for a small update after the holidays!

    Finished Vulkan today:

Next project - Classic Dark Reaper Exarch from the early nineties!

I suspect Dragon Age: Origins (got it for Christmas) will eat a lot of my time in the near future, but I'll be back!

Back with a small update today. I've done some basecoating on the Exarch. His armour will be mostly black with some bone details. Other details will be picked out in Shining gold and Chainmail. The pouches are painted in Scorched brown.

I'll move on to the finer details next...

    Thanks for the comments guys!

I haven't done a lot of painting the last couple of weeks, but here's an update on the Dark Reaper Exarch.

I have some finishing touches to add before he's done. And I have to do the base and the flail-thing (Web of Skulls?) of course! I'm going to paint the Dark Reaper rune onto his forehead, since that's what I did on the other Dark Reapers in the squad. Only problem is that I painted the other models in like...2005. I hope I haven't lost my touch! I guess we'll see how it turned out in the next update...

Finished the Dark Reaper Exarch! We're moving next week, so all the painting stuff has to be packed later today. Hopefully I'll be able to get myself a better painting area at the new house. With my own desk...yes, that would be nice. Now I just have to convince the fiancee that this is a good idea...

Well, here's the pics! The rune on the helmet turned out OK I think.

Below: The next guy in line - a classic Fire Dragon. IMHO this particular mini is one of the best sculpts GW has produced!

hi, nice models looks like you got colour placement down and pretty neatly too but you need to thin your paints more and add some more depth in the form of highlights and shading.

    Keep up the good work

Yes, the thinning bit I agree with. I'm a bit lazy I guess, so I often go for fewer, thicker coats of paint. But I will try to work on this!

Done some shading tonight (Scab red) and highlighting (Fiery orange). And also added some Chaos black on the holster and helmet.

    Thanks for the comments!

Some more pics of the Fire dragon. Painted the gun, tubing and gems since last update.

Next step will be the helmet, and of course a grey highlight on the black parts.

Finally finished the Fire Dragon! The rune on the helmet was a bit tricky, but it looks alright to me.

Time to move on to a bigger project - the 6 CSM bikes for my Word Bearers!

Here they are, lying around in their boxes waiting for some paint:

Re: Covering Fire (hopefully) does some painting (Salamanders, Word Bearers, Alaitoc)

Thanks you guys! I'm quite pleased with the finished mini. I'll see if I can do something about the gun. Suggestions? Maybe some of the bobs on it should be painted as gems? Or maybe some sharper highlights.

The rune is simply Skull white and a steady hand!

Well, I've been in the hobby since 1996 and in my experience it's all too easy to end up buying stuff here and there that sits unfinished for years...

Re: Covering Fire (hopefully) does some painting (Salamanders, Word Bearers, Alaitoc)

yeah some gems would look good and maybe a wash to give more shading possibly?

Also most wargamers i know have enough stuff to last a lifetime and yet continue buying stuff every year lol >_<
