It's been a while since my last update here (I've become a father since then...much less time for painting right now!), but now I've finally finished that accursed Command squad! Don't think I'm going to paint another Space Marine unit for a while...

    Anyways, here they are:

    Group shot:

    Captain's cloak and the banner:

I'm really pleased with the flames and the overall look of the unit, but it really did take an age to finish!

Currently I'm painting 4 Eldar Guardians in Ulthwé colours. Pics will come later.

The flames look suitably impressive and it's a very nice army - well done!
Congrats on the addition(s) to your family, too.
I am urgently trying to contact any living relatives of Sam 'Jock' Wilson, KIA 10.06.44, UK army service id 2764432, from Morley, West Yorkshire, England. Served with Black Watch Regiment & No.6 Commando.

    Thanks!

    My Ulthwé Guardians:

These are the push-fit models that come 4 in a box, so they were quick to assemble. I've not done any highlighting as of yet, but maybe I'll do it later. I wanted a fast way to paint the bone parts so I went with a basecoat of Vomit brown followed by Bleached Bone and then a Gryphonne sepia wash.

    Next up is Eldrad Ulthran!

Agreed, the fire is very good. I have been practising myself recently, I'm not to that standard yet!

    Thanks!

Besides painting new miniatures I'm currently also repainting my Eldar from Alaitoc colours to Ulthwé colours. I still like the Alaitoc colour scheme (blue and yellow is nice) but I never felt that I could do it justice with my painting, hence the switch to Ulthwé.

    First up my Rangers:

Re: Covering Fire (hopefully) does some painting (Salamanders, Word Bearers, Alaitoc)

I have finally done some basecoats on Eldrad Ulthran and his two Warlock bodyguards:

Next step will be to apply Bleached bone to the Vomit brown areas.

At the same time I am in the process of repainting my other Warlocks and my two Farseers into Ulthwé colours (you can still see the old scheme on the Farseer to the left):

Recently I also found my old 3rd edition Dire Avengers (the ones with Guardian bodies and metal heads) in a box and wondered what to do with them.

Then I spied some unused metal Guardian helmets with plumes that came with the Storm Guardian kit...and so I give you the ruthless Black Guardians of Ulthwé

I have decided to use these heads and repaint the models into Ulthwé colours to make a squad of Black Guardians (I will use them as a proxy for Dire Avengers).

I really like the work you did on the Daemon Prince. Your work on those salamanders also has me tempted to go and buy some space marines.

Thanks! Glad you like my work!

Seems I'm working on several projects at the same time right now. I'm repainting (from Alaitoc to Ulthwé) five Warlocks and two Farseers as well as my Wraithlord and the Dire Avengers you see above. And some Eldar heavy weapons! At the same time I'm also painting Eldrad and two new Warlocks.

I'll see if I can get some pics up later.

Re: Covering Fire (hopefully) does some painting (Salamanders, Word Bearers, Alaitoc)

Finally some pics of my Ulthwé project as promised! Not much to see though, since they're all in a state of WIP.

Seer Council - I'm currently painting the face masks/helmets Bleached bone after finishing with the Chaos black robes.Once that is done I'll add some red details (sashes and sword grips for example).

Black Guardians (former Dire Avengers) - I've covered the blue armour with Chaos black...except for the shoes!I'll keep them blue I think. No, just kidding! I'll paint them black too, it's just a bit complicated there, since I don't want the grass to be black as well. Once that is done it's time paint the red details (tubing and sashes) and then the guns (which will be Bleached bone).

Wraithlord - Finished painting over the blue with Chaos black. Next step will be to paint the ribbed areas/joints (which are now Chainmail) red. And of course to repaint the (at the present) yellow head to bone colour.

I finished the Seer Council today! Nice! I really like the colour combination on these - black, bone and red goes very well together.

Now to finish off that Wraithlord...

They look great! The mix of colors does go very well together.

Mind sharing how you did the bone color?

Sure, it's quite simple really. I start with a basecoat of Vomit brown and then I add Bleached bone. To finish it off I apply a light wash of Gryphonne sepia.

Some small finishing touches left, but the Wraithlord is as good as finished:

Thanks for sharing the recipe and the Wraithlord also looks great. What finishing touches are left to do on him?

Been a while since my last update, but here's a WIP shot of Eldrad and two warlocks:

I recently revisited my Warp Spiders and Ulthwéified them. They had some blue details to tie in with my Alaitoc army, but I changed the blue to black and painted the base rims Charadon granite to match my Ulthwé force instead.

Your stuff is very neat i like it alot, if you just added some highlights i think you would have even better looking minis. Its time consuming but worth it.

Yes, I know I should highlight more...it's just so utterly time-consuming! And time is not something I have a lot of at the moment. My plan is to go back and add highlights, but right now I just want to bring my Ulthwé army to tabletop standard as soon as possible.

I love the idea of the spider webs on the Warp Spiders. I find nothing to criticize at the moment (just had a quick look because I am in a 'hurry') But yeah, looking good, as always.

That idea is actually stolen from the Warp Spiders paited for the GW studio army, but I think it looks good on them.

I also took out my old Fire Dragons and (just like I did with the Warp Spiders) changed blue details to black and painted the bases Charadon granite:
