I'm finally done with Eldrad and the two Warlocks:

The rune on Eldrad's cloak was tricky, but it turned out OK in the end.

Finished repainting two heavy weapons platforms:

And now for something completely different:

I will paint my Tyranids in the colours of hive fleet Behemoth, and I plan to use this Zoanthrope to test my scheme.

Re: Covering Fire (hopefully) does some painting (Salamanders, Word Bearers, Alaitoc)

Today I have some pics of the finished Zoanthrope!

I also decided to test my scheme on a Genestealer...

    ...and on a Termagant.

Group shot of the first Tyranids to join hive fleet Behemoth:

    Scheme:

Skin: Base with Mechrite red > Paint with Blood red > wash with Devlan mud > drybrush with Blood red > wash with Baal red
Carapace: Chaos black > highlight with Hawk turquoise
Claws and guns: Adeptus battlegrey > wash with Badab black twice
Teeth: Base with Khemri brown > wash with Devlan mud > paint the teeth with Bleached bone
    Eyes: Golden yellow
Tongues: Warlock purple > gloss varnish
Zoanthrope brain: Tentacle pink > wash with Baal red > gloss varnish

I also have a second Zoanthrope lined up for painting, but this time in resin (or Finecast as they insist on calling it). This is actually my first resin mini, but sofar I haven't found any major defects on it. It is leaning slightly backwards, but some hot water will probably allow me to bend it into position.

Wow! Finally done with the Tyrant Guard:

Quite tricky models to paint since it was hard to reach everywhere with the brush. But I really like how they turned out. Especially the carapaces!

    On to the Lictor then.

Looking good, although maybe the claws and grey bits in general wouuld benefit from another highlight?

Yes, they would probably look better with more highlighting. I'll take a look at them again.

    Finished the Lictor as well:

I think the Trygon Prime will be next. Looking forward to the challenge of painting such a large beast!

Looking forward to the monstrous critter. Lictor is good-looking too. What are you planning, base-wise?

Glad you like him! I'm not sure about the bases since I have a grassy jungle board and a snow-covered board. It's tricky to make a base that fits both terrain boards. But I was thinking something brownish perhaps...

I'm currently painting the turquoise bits on the carapace.

Getting a distinct TRON-esque vibe here, but your scheme will obviously remedy that, when you do the chipped-like look of the rest. Looking forward to seeing it done!

    The Trygon Prime is finished:

Quite the beast to paint, especially the damn scales on the tail! There were so many of them!

I've started work on the Tervigon and the Hormagaunts, but since I don't really feel like painting another large beast the Gaunts may get priority here.

Great finish, it's a really imposing beast. Concerning bases, either match one of yor boards, or go with a general muddy feel?

Re: Covering Fire (hopefully) does some painting (Salamanders, Word Bearers, Alaitoc)

I took a break from painting Tyranids over Christmas and instead finished repainting my old Dire Avengers that I showed a few posts back.

Enter the Black Guardians of Ulthwé:

My next project will be three Eldar Support Weapons:

I have to say that these were very well sculpted and cast - hardly no mould lines at all!

Just finished the Hormagaunts! After doing these I have decided never to paint more than 10 models at a time. More than that is just too many!

I'm happy with how they turned out though.

Now to finish off the Support Weapons. The crew is in place, but I've still got to do the guns.

    Done with the Support Weapons!

I'll go back and add some more details later (something is needed to break up all that black), but I haven't decided on said details yet.

I'm going to focus on the Tervigon now, and I have made some small progress. I have painted the eyes, teeth and tongues (on the Tervigon and the two Termagants popping out!) and the carapace on the Termagants and on the Tervigon's head. Next up is doing the turquoise bits on those carapaces.

Re: Covering Fire (hopefully) does some painting (Salamanders, Word Bearers, Alaitoc)

Got a bit fed up with the turquoise highlighting on the Tervigon carapace, so I decided to take short break and go green! I painted up a Slugga boy from Assault on Black Reach for my Death Skulls warband (still got some blue warpaint to add though):

This was a refreshing change of pace from all the red and...turquoise highlighting *shudder*. Anyways, back to the Tervigon.

Not that far to go now. I just need to shade and highlight the claws, finish off the egg sack and glue all the bits together!
