I've made some progress on the Warseer marine, but I've found that painting white is not an easy task! I don't know how many layers I've applied to get a smooth surface.

Time for a small update. I've slowly started to work on the Salamanders command squad and captain.

The bodies have been glued to the legs and painted Snot green. Right now I'm painting the gold details, and then I will continue with the backpacks.

Not much action here lately, but I've slowly been working away at the Command squad.

The bodies are more or less finished, and the backpacks as well. I haven't done any highlights yet, but it will be done later. Some details also remain, such as those containers/flasks and the lamp on the apothecary.

Next up will be the arms...once I have figured out which weapon options to choose!

Good job mate on teh grean mahreens! I'm repainting my Dwarfs so I don't have any time for 40k. Good thing you're up to yours! Will they have ash-covered lava bases?

    Cheers

Thanks! The lava is a good idea, I'll have to think about that.

I've started to add arms to the marines (and finally decided which weapons to use).

Here we have the Apothecary with bolt pistol, veteran with storm bolter and power fist and standard bearer with bolt pistol:

Captain with combi-melta and relic blade and company champion with power weapon:

I like that rope on the captains chest. Looks ace! And that apotechary is coming along nicely! but I only think that aren't apotecharies white or something. He needs a bit of tidying up; The field soldiers need to know who's the medic here!

    Cheers

Don't worry, he'll have some white parts too! I'm planning on making the helmet and one shoulderguard white to mark him out as an apothecary.

I've not done a lot of more work on my Command squad, but I've added the missing arms to the Company champion and Apothecary:

Unfortunately I've felt the call of the Ruinous Powers lately so I got a sudden urge to paint some stuff for my Word Bearers. It all started when I found a Chaos Rhino on eBay that I bought and started to repaint in red:

One thing led to another, and now I've got a Daemon Prince calling for my attention too!

I guess I'll have to put the Command squad on hold while I deal with these Chaos usurpers!

Almost finished the Chaos Rhino! I played a game with it the other day and it didn't even blow up! Normally newly painted stuff seems to die horribly in their first game...

Red ones go faster! That's why your rhino didn't get shot because they didn't fear the horribly presented payload in it. . .

How about checking out this random cavalcade?

I'm crazy and I'm Finnish. Don't blame me, it's the polar bears!

Finished the Chaos Rhino yesterday, so it's time to start with the Daemon Prince.

After assembly (of course he will also have wings, tail and shoulder pads, but I left those off at this stage) I basecoated him with Mechrite red:

I gave him the sword arm, since I thought he looked bit silly with just two big hands and no weapon...

Slow progress on the Prince since terrain building has taken up a lot of the hobby time. I also found it difficult to decide on a colour for his skin, but I'll be going for a greyish shade (Charadon granite with Badab black):

    Still very WIP:

Here's the prince with shoulder pads, leg armour and tabard added:

    Looks a lot beefier now...

Nice Daemon Prince, hope you finish it. Your Salamanders must feel abandoned though being left headless like that.

Some more WIP shots of the Daemon Prince today! Since the last update I have finished the metal banding, painted the horns and claws and also the sword.

    Front:

    Nearly done now.

    Sword:

I was going for a molten lava look on the sword to represent it's inner power.

    Top:

I've also done the markings on the shoulders in the same way to make the armour a bit more interesting. I'm thinking that it is inscribed with glowing runes of power...sort of.

He's done! Except for the base of course. Turned out rather good I think.

Maybe I'll be able to finish that Command squad now?
