That is so true, it's an often used trick when something is rolling towards you on film, but I guess it's the shock that makes you turn tail and run directly away from it.
Snow white and the Huntsman
Saw it with my girlfriend last night, we both enjoyed it, like said before the pace was good and the action was okay for the most part bar how William was able to punch and attack with his bow and it never broke was stupid. Also near the start why does Snow White say a Christian prayer? It jst seemed odd to me and my girlfriend. Also was there a deeper meaning behind the 3 drops of blood cause it did fixate on that.
Bar those bugbears, Gd film and the dwarfs nearly stealing the show.

I don't see why she shouldn't be a Christian. It's not something that gets brought up often in fairy stories, but it's assumed, I would think. It also adds another meaning to the story, of Christianity overcoming paganism (in the person of the wicked stepmother's witchcraft).
As to the blood, it was a repeated visual motif. I don't know if there was anything deeper behind that, but it was certainly the power behind the magic in the film.
I saw two flicks at my local drive-in with teh family.
Madagascar 3
The first third is really clever and funny. During this part of the film, it is riffing on caper films. Then, after the really fun Mo-ped chase scene, it all goes downhill. The circus parts just did not have the same wit as the heist flick vibe.
However, as always, the penguins steal the show.
David Schwimmer, Jada Pinket-smith, and Ben Stiller have to be really happy this series is a hit. Paychecks for them when their careers have kind of derailed over the years.
Pass
Men in Black III
I have never really been a fan of this series. Perhaps I just don't "get it". It has never really made me laugh.
Saying that, this one deals with Agent Jay havign to go back in time to rescue Agent Kay from being erased. Typically, I can't stand time travel films, but this one went over pretty easy, and didn't worry about getting all tied up with continuity.
Overall, a light little nothing.
Pass Unless you are an obsessive MiB completist who has wathced the other two and all the cartoon episodes. Then, you will probably be compelled to see it.

Rock Of Ages
Yeah, it's a musical but for all that a surprisingly good filmRussell Brand and Tom Cruise made it for me - alongside the cheesiest of classic rock numbers that the writers could think up it seems.
Watch/Rent
“Not many of us are left. We thought we’d better have the reunion this year. Next year it could have been a séance.”
Wrath of the Titans
Have you seen the first one? Bit silly, right? Sam Worthington was awful, as were normally stalwart actors Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, weren't they? Contained pointless things like the female lead sacrificing herself only to be brought back to life later. Pretty bad blockbuster (which is saying a lot these days).
Well, its sequel is worse.
Far, far worse.
I won't go into detail, but suffice to say that throughout the 1hr 40 minute run time, very little happens.
Neeson and Fiennes are awful again, Worthington is less Australian, but still awful, the actor that plays his son is awful (and spends a good 5 minutes towards the end of the film with a bizarre grimace stuck on his face), whoever played Ares is awful, Worthington's side-kick is awful (and, inexplicably he is promoted from random thief/ sailor to battlefield commander towards the end), Rosamund Pike is bland, Bill Nighy is amusing, but a bit too much of a comedy character for such a film, everyone else is instantly forgettable.
The writing makes little sense throughout; and the whole thing is just painful. Worthington’s character switches between being a normal human, to being able to survive having his head rammed through 78 stone pillars by the God of War. If I hadn't been watching it at a friends house, I would have turned it off.
Verdict- Avoid, watch The Immortals, it's just as silly, but a infinitely more entertaining.
Mat Ward Fact #64001- Mat Ward has been described as willowy with elven features.
Wrath of the Titans
As the above poster ( whose post made me curious enough to see it) said, it is a prety terrible movie.
However while i agree with the greater spirit of the above review i would add that the Olympian family moments were fun to watch.
Burn it.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER
Fantastically absurd.
Have you seen the movie or just read the title? I cannot tell...![]()

I am very glad I watched it.
I watched it yesterday and though it was really awful.
Sure it's based on a fairy tail so the writers didn't have much to go on, but there are so many stupid things going on in that movie it just boggles the mind.
Not too thrilled about the overacting of Charlize Theron either. The Dwarves and the huntsman were about the only redeeming feature of this movie.

Biggest problem with Snow White for me was that Kristen Stewart only has one expression.
Well, I saw several movies this weekend.
Thor
You know, one of those movies that led up to the big Avengers film people have been talking about. I enjoyed it. You see a clear character arc for Thor develop, and goes from being a pig-headed spoiled brat into a much more humble character. I also enhjoye dthe fact that Loki wasn;t played up as "Bwahahahahaha" evil. He had an agenda, as was ruthless in caring it out, but it didn;t feel like he was outright "evil". Made it more.... "Shakespearean"?![]()
The biggest disappointment was how quickly Thor dealt with the Destroyer. Overall, good to see Shield doing some stuff. Asgard and Yodinheim were nice to look at. Natalie Portman doesn't act liek a piece of wood either. Overall, a nice effort by everyone involved dealing with a comic that seems like it would be very hard to pull off right.
Watch/Buy
Dr. Strange
An animated movie about Earth's Sorceror-Supreme. Unsurprisingly, it in a origin story. Is it possibel to make a Superhero flick that ISN'T an origin story? It was a bit interesting to see magic instead of "super-powers" but they generally just used it to make swords to fight with. That was kind of boring.
There was also an interesting plot point about Dr. Strange removing a wall. This scene and the discussion with the Ancient One about the nature of perception and how it can molded and used was somewhat reminiscent of The Matrix's "Do you really think that is air you are breathing?" scene.
Overall, not a bad effort, but just didn;t really engage the way I had hoped it would. The story just doesn;t hang together that well.
Watch
The Ultimate Avengers
Another animated flick. This was pretty sucky. If you want to watch animated Avengers, watch The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes instead. This just felt like it was trying too hard, and never really did anything to make it a unique and interesting entity.
Despite lot's of action, it still came across as boring. The best part was when Cap was fighting the Nazi's at the beginning. However, even the climax of this part shows too much and comes off like a cheap knock-off of better films.
Also, the animation is NOT very good, with heavy use of terrible shading and shadow effects.
Pass
Finally, I saw the latest Pixar flick....
Brave
I honestly don't see why the critics are panning it. It's a good, enjoyable flick. Even more refreshingly, the trailers don't give away the central premise of the movie! Wow.
I've seen soem critics claim that all the male characters act like idiots. I think I disagree with this. Fergus, the King; does nto act like an idiot. His actiosn are anything but idiotic. Sure, he's not a great public speaker, which makes him look dumb; but his actions show him to be a brave, loyal, and admirable guy. Plus, he has a deft touch connecting with his daughter, that her mother lacks. Finally, his attempts to help the Queen work through their daughter's issues seems relatively progressive for the time. Even if it is played for laughs.
Like I said. I don't know why it is getting panned by critics. It is just as good as Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
A film thats only saving grace was that its one of those retro pulpy films that somehow gets released by a big studio every few years. Otherwise a neat idea stretched out far too long.
