    Re: Dannage's Imperial Forgeworld!

Finally, things begin to move once more for li'l ol Dannage!

To bring you up to speed, things went flat when I moved into my partners house. I found and have hired a workshop for a fairly decent rate and my hobby is moving into that unit. On the negative side, it means I don't have the hobby to hand, on the plus side, it gives me a veritable crap load of space to set up both my Imperial dioramas and have room for storage, a gaming table and a little work table, whoo hoo!

I haven't been in to see the space at the moment, but I've been given some rough dimensions and it's an impressive 16' x 24'.

I decided to try and throw together an idea of what I'm going to do with the space, which I include for your viewing pleasure. The circular thing that looks like a dartboard on the wall is, in fact, going to be my dartboard, which I got for christmas last year and have never been able to put up anywhere!

    Hurrah for space!

So, yeah, it's not really a proper forgeworld, just in case any of you read the thread title and thought I was building one of those! But I will have more Imperial stuff than anything else. Here's a brief overview of the plans for those tables.

The Gaming table will obviously just have some basic and removable scenery on it, and I'll no doubt get some of those battleboards to enable me to play games with other people, without needing to book anything at a store. This will be useful mainly for preventing me the embarrassment of having lots of public watching me take all my models off the table every two seconds.

The workstation will be for painting and modelling and any specific projects (Such as the Siege of Terra Project which will be started once the workshop is ready)

The Imperial Guard display will feature my beloved Leviathan, making it's own road through the middle of a wrecked cityscape, with plenty of Volpone Guardsmen flanking her and fanning out throughout the city. Gives me plenty of chances to use all the ruined city terrain from both GW, FW and make some of my own!

The Astartes table will be the coup de grace, as I will finally be able to make the insanely complicated Fortress (Though I missed seeing the fang at gamesday I'm thrilled to see a feature on it due in next months WD!) The scenery for the fortress and outlying fortifications and old medieval village will be an immense labour of love, but one worthy of deploying the completed chapter onto. (....If I ever find someone to sculpt me those shoulder pads!)

Otherwise, a dart board for unwinding, and plenty of shelving units to support other random models, and bits of scenery for the gaming table.

The display and gaming tables will have storage underneath them, and the workstation will probably house a small stereo or something to keep me sane during the long dark cold winter nights.

    Hello fella

*Sighs* Yeah, I thought you were going to be building a Forgeworld, I admit it...

Siege of Terra?! Oh yes, I think I might just send some operatives over to keep an eye on you, sounds interesting!

If you can make such a cool Leviathan then I am confident that you can build... Oh at least an outhouse to the Imperial palace anyway

    Apologies for the Thread Necromancy...

    But I had to post.

First-Huzzah! Your own hobby space (I like to call it a Nerditorium, or a Geeknasium). A wise financial decision. Around my place, space is stupid expensive.

Second-For Shame! All that space and only a 4x8 gaming table! How will you engage in absurdly large Apocalypse games?

Myself, I gotta have 6x8 minimum or I feel claustrophobic.

    Good luck with the endevor.

    Re: Dannage's Imperial Forgeworld!

Heh heh... So, how was christmas and new year for everyone? Hope you all got what you wanted. Despite my christmas list having about 80 GW products on it, just got some wounded space marines, a techmarine and a couple of vouchers... I did, however get lots of other toys so I can't complain!

In any case, the woman who was formerly occupying my workshop has now moved out, so I'm moving in. Here she is!

She needs a lot of work done, mainly on the ceiling (This used to be an industrial fridge, hence the large set of fans on the ceiling!) to get rid of rust, so I need to treat all that first, before sealing the whole thing in, so it's going to be some months before I get my tables in... *sigh*

Oh well, gives me something to work on during those long winter nights, when my partner is out with friends anyway...

Ooohh I love threads like this, consider me subscribed sir. Looking forward to seeing it through to completion

I would die for a space like that, admittedly if I had space like that a home cinema would come first lol

Do you have any FW respirator cadian heads spare? If so PM me. I'm in need of 5.

Also looking for any mk6 "death womble" helmets pm me if you have any spare.

    Re: Dannage's Imperial Forgeworld!

Heh, if it makes you feel better, remember I -am- paying monthly for this space. Since I work with the owners daughter though, I am getting a healthy discount from normal retail price, so I can't complain.

I've bought treatment stuff for the ceiling now, so next week, I make a start on rubbing down the rusty ceiling!... I'm going to end up spending most of the next 3 months turning the space itself into a neat little (warm) workshop!

    Very nice looking space Dannage.

I suggest not having the dart board on the door though- that can lead to some very nasty accidents. The opposite wall looks like it has space for the darts.

Subscribed, this is an out of the ordinary but sorely necessary topic for hobby enthusiasts.

Also, lucky you for having your own hobby space! *thumbsup!*

The dart board isn't on the door! The door is next to those shelves. The dartboard was going to be mounted on a separate board though, to protect the walls! Haven't had any time to work on this thing at all, as was away after christmas visiting family, but tuesday I'll hopefully get up there and make a start on the rust treatment!

By the way geep, I love that Sig!

    Re: Dannage's Imperial Forgeworld!

Well, In case there are people out there wondering why on earth nothing has been posted when I was clearly very good at keeping my Leviathan thread updated regularly, it's mainly because of issues with the unit. There were some leaks in the roof, and you people know just how bad water would mix with any gaming table or foamboard model! I was thinking for awhile that I'd have to get another unit, but the guys who own it have promised to not only take the huge freezer fans off, but also put proper air ventilation in there and a brand new ceiling.

I'm getting quite nervous about Siege of Terra, since I can't begin my modelling project and I've only got until May. alarm bells are ringing in the back of my head.

Updates as and when the room becomes watertight!

    Re: Dannage's Imperial Forgeworld!

Well, They put me a new ceiling in. They still have to install some vents to keep the air circulating. There's a lot of sawdust on the floor at the moment, just to soak up all the moisture that was there.

I didn't have a broom with me when I went up there today (they phoned to say I could get back in) but I managed to lay one of my three damp proof sheets down, and some of my boards. I need to trim the end ones down to size.

    Re: Dannage's Imperial Forgeworld!

    Looks good so far.

I hope they do a good job with ventilation- I used to live in a room below a freezer (industrial style), and the humidity/ condensation issues were a real pain.

On the other hand, as the oxygen levels in the room decrease the games will seem a lot more realistic...

By the way geep, I love that Sig!

    Re: Dannage's Imperial Forgeworld!

No, I've not been dead. I've actually been forced to work in secret, for the Tempus Fugitives' latest campaign weekend, which has just finished, so now my work can finally go public, huzzah!

The mandate was fairly simple: Since some gamers would finish earlier than others, and whilst everyone is playing army versus army battles, the Horus Heresy ended with a climactic battle on Horus Battlebarge. Build an atmospheric terrain piece which will allow players to take a single character out of those that teleported up (Ollis Pious, Rogal Dorn, Sanguinnius, The Emperor etc) and face them off in a special rules game against Horus himself.

The most dificult thing for me was that because it was a secret project I couldn't share it with anyone, so couldn't get feedback on whether I was going the right way or not, and secondly I also ran out of time very quickly. It wasn't 'as finished' as I would have liked, but it was finished enough to be released the weekend just gone.

Proper sets of piccies up tonight, but in the meantime, here's a teaser!
