    Decadent Host of Inevitable Excess

The Decadent Host is my Slaanesh tourney army - finally complete and ready for table. The Changling I've posted in another thread is the first expansion to bring it from 2250 (shown here) to a 2500 point list (It will involve a block of horrors as well, of course).

I managed to snap these table shots today before company comes over for Christmas eve, but I'll have to get close up unit pics after the holiday when I can get the rig out and shoot them properly. Apologies for the only passable-quality images.

So Santa brought me a new box of Stormvermin and a Doom Wheel. I think the next project may very well be Skaven after all...

Today's efforts are for a display board - need to size and cut the plywood this afternoon while I still have light outside.

Lovely army and nice display board! I don't think I've seen one as a work in progress at the planning stage. Makes it seem easier to do than it seems.

Looking forward to the completed base!

Re: Decadent Host of Inevitable Excess

Thank you! This is my second display board - the first I put together for my High Elves over a weekend as it was a requirement for the tournament I was going to and it's a lot larger and heavier than it needed to be. They're actually really pretty easy to do and you can get the large sheets of the blue foam from hardware stores relatively cheap.

The most important part in my experience is just knowing where you want things to be when you display them. I set my figs out on my table, get a sense for the size of the board, cut and glue the foam to it and then set the army up on the foam and trace their locations. Where I am here is after making sure I was satisfied with the deployment as it were, I started cutting into the negative space and I've filled the channels with Black Lava filler. I'll spray the whole thing black tomorrow and start to painting.

At the moment, my flashy bits are the altar (which is not attached so I can also use it as a terrain feature and make it easier to transport the board) and the front right corner I'm going to model a scollwork banner in sculpy for the army title. I may also do some freehand painting in the center as I'll have a bunch of negative space if only the 2250 is displayed; I needed to leave room for the additional unit of horrors when I go to 2500 for the GW store tourney starting in Feb.

I definitely encourage people to give making these things a try - they look great with a finished army deployed and ready for display! Given that I had the extra foam on hand from my High Elf board and the wood underneath was sitting around in my shed, the total cost for this project was exactly $0.
