Love the pod- really nice conversion with the whips and all the other little touches like the infestation markers. The chicken gaunt is very creepy too..

Oh, this looks really good. Love the landing spore, but one thing that might improve it is if you slice of a bit of the "egg", parallel to the ground, so it looks like its has buried itself abit. It looks abit strange now imo.

Yeh i know what you mean, i put aload of poly filler on the base and rammed the egg into it to try and get that effect, I think ill cut the next one i make like you've suggested though

Hormagaunts are finished



Decided to paint my carnifex after finishing those, its wierd how painting a big nid can be quite a different experience to painting the little ones


Go go caramel carni, just after carapace basecoat







A few things to finish like the base and the tongue but thats about it. I'm really liking plain modelling sand on the base upainted even though it seems sooo lazy, EDIT: after some words from the missus regarding the bases i will infact be painting them lol, she is a golden daemon finalist after all lol

Can anyone suggest a good colour for the bases? Was thinking id just go with an urban scheme

Definitely, I think grey will avoid detracting from the model itself.
I'm either using jungle or urban for my Nids, cos I've got desert for my IG.

If you go urban, paint the rims in brown to keep some colour. I quite like the sand colour actually as it adds a third complementary colour to your two tone scheme.

slight update, still on my honeymoon in new york, sad to say i even went o a gw here on sat and bought a hive guard lol. I've also bought a heapof stuff of ebay so ill get some pics up when i get back
