Dark Elves! Warriors of Chaos! Orcs & Goblins!

So i got into Warhammer FB about a year ago. My brother kept nagging so i tried it. Played a match with the goblins from the BFSP box. Second game was against my brothers Daemons. Had loads of fun, and finally managed to defeat him. Was hooked after that match.

About a year later, i have three rather large armies. The only problem is i am really slow at painting. I´m hoping this project log will help me in that area. Feel free to criticize as much as you want, just keep in mind that not a single model is completed.

    Dark Elves
Initially i was going for a Star Trek influenced theme, believe it or not. The Dominion warships from Deep space nine. A stealthy look with dark colors & blue skin. Then i came across ekxw's thread and found his awesome High-Elves. It's scary how you can change your mind so quickly. Good thing most models only need "minor" adjustments...

I like how you do their skin so even tough you change their clothing to red I hope you stick with their pale blue skin.

blue flesh, a little difficult to paint as a flesh, may be sume flesh color + blue could do the hightlights, on the flesh.

also do the trick of washing the gold with scorched brown + water, and latter black + water that will do the job, of making more realistic the metals.

for the purple i suggest to use a darker colour to make shadows on the robes, cause that's a to light color, just base colour, shadows and hightlights.

also think in mixing some dark purple with the skin colour to make the lips lower part, that will give them a different look

i will keep and eye on this thread

Thanks for posting. I'm afraid the blue skin will be no more, I'll go with normal skin tone, I think it fits the color scheme better. I was looking forward painting the Supreme sorceress blue & the energy around her in a fire scheme. Maybe some day...

ekxw: If i understand correctly you don't use washes? i'm wondering if diluted Scorched Brown/Black give the same result as Devlan Mud & Badab Black.

These are from when i unpacked my recently bought WoC. Got em for just 100$, which is a bargain considering many are painted in tabletop quality. Also came with bits for another 5 Knights, 4 warriors & 20 Marauders.

Will probably convert some of the Warriors into Chosen.

Here are my Black Orcs. About halfway done, might throw on another wash of Badab Black. Tell me what you think.

nice miniatures, they are a solid gaming level. The only advice and encouragement i would give is to add some more depth and soften the highlights. There are lots of ways to do this have a search around there are plently of tutorials.

Updated the thread to include thumbnails instead, I realized that large pictures don't work too well.

I take it you mean the WoC? I didn't paint those. The highlight is rather strong, but with so many models to paint softening highlights is at the very bottom of my list.

Still, if you know of any good tutorial please post a link.

the metal looks great but need more shadows just some washes with black +watter.

    the gold needs some hihgthlights.

i think i would only paint some part of gold cause that way it will look better, cause the miniature dosent have a elevation on the armor plates.

uhmm i dosent know how to say this but just paint in gold the more elevated parts of the armor like the shoulder parts adn the lower ones

Thanks for your input. The metal is dark enough, it is just the cameras flash making things look brighter.

You are right that there is too much gold, i will see if i can find the right balance.
